We all know that planting trees is good for the Earth. Trees help keep our air clean by taking in carbon dioxide. (1) So, planting more trees seems like a simple solution. The more trees, the cooler our Earth will be, is it right (2)
Scientists have found something surprising: planting trees in the wrong places can sometimes make the Earth warmer instead of cooler. (3) This is because dark green trees take in heat from the sun. In cold, snowy places, white snow and ice are very important. They reflect sunlight back into space like a mirror, which helps keep those areas cool. If we plant dark trees there, the ground becomes darker, takes in more heat, and the cooling effect gets weaker.
(4) The key is to be smart about where we plant them. According to scientists, the best places for new trees are warm, wet areas like rain forests. In these places, trees can take in a lot of carbon dioxide without causing the ground to take in much more heat.
Planting trees is a hopeful act for the future of our planet. Thanks to scientists, we now have better tools, like global maps, to guide this work. (5) Today, many countries and organizations have planted billions of trees to fight climate change.

Pang Zhongwang was born in a small village in Hebei Province in 1999. His family faced great difficulties — his father suffered from mental illness, and his mother was disabled and had to stay in a wheelchair. Life was hard, but young Pang never complained.
At the age of seven, Pang was found to have a heart problem and needed an operation. The surgery saved his life but left his poor family in deep debt. To help out, Pang started collecting scrap materials after school. He walked along the roads, picking up waste and selling it for money. He did this for years, while still managing to keep up with his schoolwork.
Pang’s mother taught him to be optimistic. “Look forward,” she would often say with a smile. Her words stayed with him. No matter how hard life got, Pang believed that education could change his future.
In 2017, Pang scored 684 out of 750 in the national college entrance exam (gaokao) and was admitted to Tsinghua University, one of China’s best universities. His story moved many people. So far, China has successfully sent a large number of satellites and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving their names.
Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China’s first man-made satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang’e I. More interestingly, the moon rover was named after the Jade Rabbit, who is the partner of Chang’e in the story. These old stories carry people’s best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true.
Kua Fu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kua Fu is going with the scientists to “visit” the sun, because we have a space project called Kua Fu Mission.
Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China’s first quantum (量子) science satellite was named Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground.
From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology.
38.In China, space scientists get ideas from __________ when naming satellites.① old stories ② traditional projects ③ ancient famous people ④ popular inventions
A. ①② B. ②④ C. ①③ D. ③④

On the night of February 16, 2026, viewers around the world were amazed by a special group of performers at China’s annual Spring Festival Gala. These performers didn’t sing or dance in the usual way — they were humanoid robots, and they stole the show. Millions watching on television and online platforms could hardly believe their eyes as these mechanical performers moved with surprising grace and power.
The robots appeared in a martial arts program, fighting with some young kung fu learners. They waved swords and sticks, did back flips, and even imitated the famous “drunken boxing” style, shaking and falling backwards like human masters. Some audience later posted on social media that they first thought the robots were real people wearing special suits.
This was not just an entertainment show. Behind the scenes, four Chinese robotics companies showed the world how fast China’s AI and robot technology is developing. Just one year earlier, at the 2025 Gala, robots could only do simple moves like turning handkerchiefs. Now, they completed world-first actions: continuous parkour over tables, single-leg flips, and even seven-and-a-half backflip rotations.
“Chinese robots have made amazing progress in just one year,” said Georg Stieler, a robotics expert quoted by Reuters. He pointed out that these robots’ excellent movement control shows how Chinese companies are improving the “brains” of robots — the AI software that helps them do detailed tasks in factories.
According to market research company Omdia, about 13,000 humanoid robots were shipped globally in 2025, and nearly 90% came from Chinese companies. Morgan Stanley predicts that sales will more than double to 28,000 in 2026.
The message from the Gala was clear: Chinese humanoid robots are moving from the stage to real-world use. As one foreign media report put it, “The Spring Festival Gala showed China’s ambition in AI and next-generation manufacturing.” From factories to hospitals, from schools to households, these robots may soon become a familiar part of our daily lives.
42.What does the underlined phrase “stole the show” in Paragraph 1 probably mean
A. Performed a show about stealing things.
B. Replaced human performers completely.
C. Became the most attractive part of the show.
D. Took away something valuable from the show.
43.What made the audience think the robots might be real people at first
A. They fought with young kung fu learners.
B. They could sing and dance in a usual way.
C. They moved so naturally like human masters.
D. They were wearing special and beautiful suits.
44.Why does the writer mention the 2025 Spring Festival Gala in Paragraph 3
A. To show the rapid development of robot technology.
B. To describe how robots learn to turn handkerchiefs.
C. To explain why robots are better at simple moves.
D. To prove that robots were more popular in 2026.
45.What’s the best title of this passage
A. Large Global Market of Chinese Humanoid Robots
