Sasha Minsky was a student at The Potomac School in Virginia,US.He loved swimming and was a competitive swimmer.Minsky had a dream to help children in a faraway place called Alexandra,a busy township in South Africa.
In Alexandra,a river flows through the town. Many people, especially children, are at risk of drowning(溺水).Minsky wanted to change that. So,he started a special program called the Alexandra Youth Swim Academy. This program teaches children how to swim for free.

As Kunqu Opera comes back to life, young performers are bringing centuries-old traditions into modern times.
He Xinyue is one of the 38 fifth-generation performers at the Jiangsu Kunqu Opera Theater, all born after 2000.She works hard to make Kunqu fit the taste of today's audiences."Kunqu is elegant because its stage is simple. Its sense of grace grows with just 'one table,two-chairs,""she said.
However, learning Kunqu takes years of training.Performers start young, practicing tongzigong-skills like backflips and backbends(背弓).
In December 2024,the young artists staged their first complete show of A Dream Under the Southern Bough,a Ming Dynasty(1368-1644)play by Tang Xianzu. It was a shorter,17-act version with a modern style. The original has 44 acts and follows Chun Yufen's dreamlike journey.
For Cai Yisheng, acting as a Buddhist monk was difficult."I didn't have the calm manner the role required,"he said. For Song Bofan,it's not only about physical skills."You need to really take in the lines and understand the different feelings of the character,"he said.
Kunqu's lines are a mix of Suzhou dialect(方言) and zhongzhouyun,or ancient Chinese pronunciation. This makes the performance harder. But for Li Jingyang,it's part of the charm. "Each line follows a qupai(a fixed musical pattern).like a poetic tune from the Song Dynasty (960-1279),"she said."It opens a window to classical literature"
For this generation,Kunqu is a way of life."Even in everyday talking about characters and storylines,"Li said."It just comes naturally to us."

24.What can we infer about the young performers from the last paragraph? ______

Urban flooding is becoming more common as climate change continues.Rising temperatures are causing sea levels to go up,and experts say this will continue and cannot be stopped in the next 20 years.
We've seen major flooding in places like China and the US.One report,The Growing Threat of Urban Flooding, warns that this is a big problem. In Europe, more heavy rain is expected, especially in winter, while summers may stay very dry in many areas.
Cities often flood when rivers or the sea overflow. But another reason is that city drainage systems(排水系统) are not strong enough.Cities don't have much open land,so rainwater must be sent to rivers or sewers(下水道).But if the system can't manage too much water, even light but steady rain can cause big trouble.Urban flooding happens when rain hits hard surfaces and can't soak into the ground.
Some cities are trying new ideas to stop flooding. In Norrebro,a district in Copenhagen, they use a special pavement(人行道) that lets water pass through into the ground. These are not too hard or expensive to build and keep.Smart technology can also help. The Copernicus Climate Change Service gives early warnings about flooding in cities to help people stay safe.People can help too.Using less plastic, reusing rainwater, and not throwing waste or harmful liquids into drains or rivers can all make a difference.
In China, the"sponge city"idea was created in 2013 by Professor Yu Kongjian. These cities use special designs to catch and clean rainwater, helping reduce floods while protecting nature and saving water.
26.What can we learn from Paragraphs 1 and 2? ______
A. Urban flooding will disappear within 20 years.
B. Climate change makes urban flooding more frequent.
C. Europe will face dry winters and rainy summers in the future.
D. Floods only take place in China and the US around the world.
27.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about? ______
A. How city drainage systems are built.
B. Why cities should have more open land.
C. Why light rain is even more dangerous.
D. What causes city flooding to happen.
28.What does the underlined phrase"soak into" in Paragraph 3 mean? ______
A. Flow over. B. Go through. C. Dry up. D. Fall off.
29.Which of the following action helps cut down urban flooding? ______
A. Pouring harmful liquids into sewers.
B. Using more plastic in daily life.
C. Collecting and reusing rainwater.
D. Building more hard pavement without gaps.
30.Where can we likely find this text? ______
A. In a diary. B. In a storybook.
