By showing the troubles and growth of young people, it reminds the audience to care about teenagers’ mental health and learn to face themselves honestly. Its touching songs and realistic themes have won wide recognition among young viewers.
Le Rouge et le Noir
As a famous French musical, Le Rouge et le Noir is adapted from Stendhal’s classical novel of the same title. It tells the life story of Julien Sorel, a young man born into a poor family who fights to achieve his ambition in a society full of class differences. Each year, more than 1.2 billion smartphones are produced globally. The production of electronic devices (设备) uses a lot of energy and takes valuable natural resources. Meanwhile, devices are aging faster than ever — users replace their still-functional phones on average every 2 to 3 years. Although the most sustainable (可持续的) solution would be to change people’s behavior and consider more carefully whether their new model truly needs replacing, this is easier said than done.
Creativity often begins not with something new, but with a new way of thinking about the old. According to a research team, old smartphones can be successfully repurposed into tiny data centers, which have a wide range of applications. For example, they could be used in city environments like bus stops to track the number of passengers in real time, while guarding personal information. This would provide valuable decision-making guidance for city officials to improve public transportation networks.
In another project, the researchers took out the phones’ batteries and replaced them with outside power sources. Then, they put four phones together, added 3D-printed covers and holders, and made a working model. The model was then tested underwater, where it surveilled sea life. Normally, these kinds of tasks require a swimmer to record video and bring it to the surface for researchers to review. But with the model, the whole process was done underwater without human help.
Different devices have different hardware (硬件) abilities and setups, which makes it hard to reuse electronic waste widely. To solve this, software systems that can work with different devices are needed, no matter their power or resources. These systems need to give each device the right amount of work based on its abilities so that no device slows down the process.
The team’s results show that outdated technology doesn’t have to end up as waste. With fresh and wonderful ideas, these devices can contribute to the development of more environmentally friendly digital solutions. “Sustainability is not just about protecting the future — it’s about reimagining the present, where yesterday’s devices become tomorrow’s opportunities,” said Ulrich Norbisrath, an Associate Professor of Software Engineering.
28. What is the major problem about electronic devices
A.Resource waste.
B.Repair difficulties.
C.Slow performance.
D.Costly advertising.
29. What is a possible application of old smartphones
A.Checking passenger behavior at stops.
B.Supporting safe crowd data collection.
C.Showing traffic conditions to passengers.
D.Surveying passengers’ service satisfaction.
30. What does the underlined word “surveilled” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Easily saved.
B.Clearly guided.
C.Carefully avoided.
D.Closely observed.
31. What is important to reuse electronic waste widely
A.Error-fixing ability.
B.Large storage space.
C.Effective energy use.
D.Adaptive workload.

A new air-powered robot can practically walk right off the 3D printer. One day, robots like this could work underwater or in dangerous environments, its creators say.
Yichen Zhai, a mechanical engineer at the University of California, and his colleagues gave their robot six flexible legs, like an insect. Air from a canister (小罐) flows through tiny tubes and chambers (腔) in the robot’s body to power it. As the pressure in each of these chambers changes, it opens and closes different tubes. That moves air into different sets of chambers, and the process starts again. This cycle moves the robot’s legs to head forward.
The robot’s design is quite interesting. Typically, making a robot involves designing different parts from different components and combining them, but this one’s body is a single piece made of just one material. The robot may be soft, but its shape actually makes it quite stable (平稳). Having six legs helps it stay upright on rough and uneven ground. Whenever it takes a step, three of its legs move at once while the other three stay on the ground, which helps it not fall over easily. And because the design doesn’t contain any electronics, it’s also water-resistant.
The six-legged walker could work in areas where electronics might be a fire risk, such as in mines. But the new soft robot isn’t quite ready for these conditions yet. The robot has to be able to move faster first, which will let it move farther on a single air canister. As of now, the insect-like robot moves along at a leisurely pace of 4 centimeters per second. That’s a little faster than a snail, but slower than a turtle.
The researchers are currently building a faster version of their machine, while hoping to find a way for the robot to avoid blocks. “Until the robot gets these upgrades, it won’t be doing heavy-duty work. But now, people can still enjoy interacting with it. The robot is like a toy and it can be cheaply and easily 3D printed. If they love it, people can make it. That’s enough,” Zhai says.
32. Why are tubes and chambers applied in the robot
A.To store air for energy supply.
B.To control movement with air.
C.To strengthen its leg structure.
D.To spare pressure for extra tasks.
33. What is special about the new robot
A.It can survive hard falls and knocks.
B.It has six legs for improved mobility.
C.It takes shape from a single material.
D.It employs 3D printing to reduce costs.
34. What can we infer about the new robot from paragraph 4
A.It operates well in fire-risk areas.
B.It moves faster on a single air canister.
C.It uses electronics to avoid overheating.
D.It shows a notable limitation in speed.
35. What do Zhai’s words mainly imply about the new robot
A.It plays a satisfying role at present.
B.It hardly makes sense in reality.
C.It leaves little room for advancement.
D.It goes beyond original expectations.

Festivals are lively celebrations that bring together music, art, food, and culture. Whether you’re a first-timer or a festival regular, making your experience unforgettable takes some planning and preparation. Here are some useful tips to help you make the most of your festival trip.
Choose the right festival. Start by picking a festival that suits you. There are so many options — music festivals, food fairs, or art events. Take time to find one that matches your interests. 36 For example, if you love jazz, look for a jazz festival. If you enjoy local food, find a festival that features regional dishes.
Plan ahead. First, buy your tickets early, as tickets to popular festivals often sell out fast. 37 Also, check the festival schedule ahead of time. Knowing the lineup and key events will help you plan your days effectively. And don’t forget to arrange your travel and stay in advance.
Get into the culture. Every festival has its own typical culture. 38 Take the time to explore different aspects of the festival beyond just the main events. Chat with local artists, join a workshop, or attend a talk. These small moments often enable a deeper connection to the event and its theme.
39 Part of the fun of festivals is the unexpected. You might come across a small hidden performance, discover an artist you’ve never heard of, or find a quiet spot away from the crowd. Try to attend some of the less popular events. These can offer unique experiences, and may lead you to your new favorite activity.
Document your experience. Take photos and videos to remember the joyful moments. You could also keep a journal (日记) or blog to reflect on your experiences. But make sure to truly enjoy the moment; sometimes the best experiences are the ones you don’t document but feel deeply. 40
A.Be open to surprises.
B.Connect with professionals.
C.Early-bird tickets can save you money.
D.It means appreciating what you have right now.
E.And enjoying it can lead to unforgettable experiences.
F.Consider factors such as the style, location, and atmosphere.
G.Thus, balancing memory-keeping with being present is significant.

Cheerful and smart, Sara was a typical high school student. When she was free, she took great pleasure in music and performing magic — a hobby that brought her popularity among her peers.
One morning, as she walked into the classroom, she caught an excited murmur. A crowd had gathered around Alice, her best friend, who was showing off her new wireless Bluetooth earphones with pride. The earphones were delicately designed and offered exceptional sound quality, leaving everyone in awe. Fascinated by the earphones, Sara made her way over to Alice, hoping to have a go. However, the class bell rang just then, cutting her off. Kids took their stuff and rushed to the lab for an experiment.
During the experiments, Crystal, their teacher, needed extra copies of the experiment guide and sent Sara to fetch them from the classroom. Back in the empty classroom, Sara spotted Alice’s earphones on the desk. After a brief pause, her strong desire to try them got the better of her. She picked up the earphones and was ready to dive into the tunes. Just then, Ms. Crystal’s voice came through the classroom PA system (广播系统), urging her to return immediately. In a hurry, Sara stuffed the earphones in her pocket and dashed back to the lab.
Immediately the experiment ended, students rushed to have lunch. After the lunch break, all the students got back to the classroom. Alice soon realized her earphones were gone and, in a fit of anger, ran to Ms.Crystal, tearfully accusing someone of stealing them.
Ms.Crystal calmed the chattering class and asked who had seen the earphones. Everything happened so quickly and unexpectedly. Sara, among the students, unconsciously reached for her pocket and felt the earphones.

Sara’s heart beat fast. Frozen with fear, she felt her cheeks burning with shame. She knew she had made a terrible mistake. Driven by desire, she had taken her best friend’s belongings without permission. Seeing Alice’s tearful and disappointed look, Sara was overwhelmed with guilt. After struggling mentally for a while, she finally gathered up her courage. She raised her hand slowly, stood up nervously, and took the earphones out of her pocket. With her head hung low, she apologized sincerely to Alice and the whole class.
Hearing Sara’s words, the class was shocked. No one had expected the friendly and popular Sara would do such a thing. A dead silence fell over the classroom. However, instead of scolding her, Ms. Crystal praised Sara for her bravery to admit her mistake. Alice was greatly relieved and chose to forgive her best friend. This incident taught Sara a precious lesson. True growth lies in facing mistakes bravely rather than escaping from them. From then on, Sara became more honest and responsible, cherishing every friendship around her.
