一、阅读理解
Passage 1
High school clubs are key to a rich campus life. They help students develop interests, build friendships, and gain practical skills. Here are three popular clubs at Chengdu No. 1 High School.
English Drama Club
Founded in 2018, this club focuses on improving English through drama performances. Members meet every Wednesday afternoon to practice lines and stage skills. Each year, they put on two plays — classic works like *Romeo and Juliet* or children’s stories such as *The Little Prince*. Last year, three members won awards in the provincial English Drama Competition.
Science and Technology Club
For students interested in invention, this club offers a great platform. Members work on small projects: building simple robots, designing mobile apps, or conducting environmental experiments. The club has a well-equipped lab with 3D printers and microscopes. Every summer, they take part in the national high school science innovation contest.
Volunteer Club
This club centers on community service. Students volunteer at local primary schools, elderly care homes, and urban parks. They help teach kids basic English, assist the elderly with daily tasks, and organize environmental clean-ups. Each semester, they hold a large-scale volunteer day that attracts over 200 participants.
1. When was the English Drama Club set up
A.In 2017. B.In 2018. C.In 2019. D.In 2020.
2. What do members of the Science and Technology Club do
A.Put on English plays. B.Teach kids science. C.Work on invention projects. D.Clean up public parks.
3. Which club organizes community service activities
A.The English Drama Club. B.The Science and Technology Club. C.The Volunteer Club. D.The Art Club.
Passage 2
For 15 years I read the books, took the courses and downloaded the apps to try to become a better person. Nevertheless, none of it helped.
I was in my mid-20s when I fell into one of the most toxic relationships of my life. I remember buying my first self-help book, which promised I could be healed of anything. I devoured it in days and was hooked.
Over the next 15 years, I bought hundreds of self-help books, courses and apps, and tracked down every self-styled personal improvement expert in the hope that they could teach me how to become happier, more confident and more lovable.
Growing up in an environment of addiction and domestic conflict made me vulnerable to the industry’s promises of self-improvement. I believed self-help authors could be the instructors I had never found. My dependency became strong after my father died in 2022. I managed to spend an enormous amount of time reading about how to grieve well instead of doing the right things: sitting with my feelings, allowing myself to cry and processing the loss.
My obsession (痴迷) with self-help had become toxic, and something had to give. It started to dawn on me that instead of helping me, the advice was making me feel worse.
I talked with a loved one and recognized that in trying to change my life, I was trying to change things that were out of my control. Instead of focusing on who I wanted to become, I had to quit self-help to learn and accept who I really was. Spending time alone, often walking, and listening to my thoughts without trying to silence or change them helped.
Since I quit my self-help craze, I’ve realized that focusing all my energy on improving myself can really suck the joy out of life. It makes happiness conditional: only when I look that way can I be loved. It can also stop me from unconditionally accepting my imperfectly perfect self. After a long time, I am finally coming round to the idea that perhaps I never needed fixing at all.
4. Why did the author become obsessed with self-help materials
A.To escape from her family. B.To overcome personal failures. C.To look for a way to kill time. D.To find guides to better herself.
5. What does the underlined word “hooked” mean
A.hung B.ruined C.absorbed D.cheated
6. What caused the author to quit her obsession
A.The death of her father. B.A conversation with a loved one. C.The suggestion from an instructor. D.An app on self-improvement.
7. What does the author want to convey in the text
A.Embracing the true self. B.Focusing on the strengths. C.Seeking professional advice. D.Developing the positive thinking.
Passage 3
World Book Day falls on April 23rd every year, but do you know that it is also Shakespeare Day Everybody may have heard of Shakespeare, but do you know how many plays he wrote
Shakespeare’s plays have three kinds: tragedies, comedies and histories. His most famous play is the tragic story of *Romeo and Juliet*, which deals with two young lovers who are not allowed to marry by their parents. It was best-known to people. Other tragedies include *Hamlet*, *Othello*, and *Macbeth*.
Shakespeare’s comedies include *Much Ado About Nothing*, *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* and *Twelfth Night*. *Twelfth Night* is a play about unclear identities. Two twins are shipwrecked (遭海难) and the sister, Viola, dresses up as her brother, Sebastian, who she thinks is dead. It’s funny, because the brother reappears and there’s a big love problem going on: Viola is in love with the Duke, who is in love with Olivia, who falls in love with Sebastian except that she doesn’t realize that Sebastian is actually Viola dressed up! Everybody falls in love with the wrong person, but it is all made right in the end.
Some of his history plays, such as *Antony and Cleopatra*, *Richard III* and *Henry V*, are based on the lives of real historical people. In *Antony and Cleopatra*, Cleopatra becomes Antony’s girlfriend and Antony becomes so crazy about her that he loses control of the army. Cleopatra kills herself in the end and Antony kills himself too.
Shakespeare’s plays can be very difficult sometimes. Some of the themes they deal with are heavy, so they almost always include a lighter subplot with characters that are not so important. They are often used in tragedies to lighten the mood of the play and to keep the audience interested in the main plot.
8. Which of the following plays is best-known to people
A.*Twelfth Night*. B.*Antony and Cleopatra*. C.*Romeo and Juliet*. D.*Much Ado About Nothing*.
9. Which is a comedy character according to the text
A.Othello. B.Sebastian. C.Antony. D.Hamlet.
10. Which of the following is wrong
A.World Book Day falls on April 23rd every year.
B.There are three kinds of Shakespeare’s plays.
C.Shakespeare’s plays can be very difficult sometimes.
D.Real historical events can be found in every history play.
11. What is the purpose of the subplot in Shakespeare’s plays
A.To lead the development of the main plot.
B.To help the audience understand the plays.
C.To make the difficult plot of the plays simple.
D.To relax the audience and make them follow the main theme.
Passage 4
Researchers at Columbia University have developed a new artificial intelligence(AI) method that can accurately predict gene (基因) activity in any human cell, essentially revealing the cell’s inner mechanisms (机制). Detailed in the latest issue of *Nature*, this system has the potential to change how scientists study cancer, genetic disorders, and other diseases.
“Predictive generalizable computational models allow to reveal biological processes in a fast and accurate way. These methods can effectively conduct lots of computational experiments, boosting and guiding traditional experimental approaches,” says Raul Rabadan, senior author of the new paper.
Traditional biological methods show how cells function or respond to changes, but they lack the ability to predict these processes. Recent advances in AI and massive biological data collections are making this shift possible. However, using AI to predict gene activity inside cells has been a greater challenge — until now.
Rabadan’s team developed an AI model trained on gene expression data from over 1.3 million normal human cells. Unlike earlier models trained on limited data, this system uses genome sequences (基因组序列) and accessibility data to predict which genes are active in any cell. The process is similar to how language models like MindLink, an AI chat tool, work: It learns patterns from data and applies them to new situations. Testing showed the model could accurately predict gene activity in cell types it had not encountered, matching experimental results closely.
The researchers applied the AI model to study pediatric leukemia, a childhood cancer caused by inherited mutations (遗传变异). The model predicted how these mutations disturb critical processes in cells, a finding later confirmed through experiments. This understanding highlights the specific mechanisms causing the disease. The AI model could also reveal unexplored regions of the genome, often linked to cancer. These “dark” regions may play key roles in disease.
Already, Rabadan is working with researchers at Columbia and other universities, exploring different cancers, from brain to blood cancers, learning the grammar of regulation in normal cells, and how cells change in the process of cancer development.
12. What is a problem about traditional biological methods
A.They are difficult to combine with AI.
B.They can’t predict how cells work.
C.They are expensive in plenty of research.
D.They can’t collect biological data effectively.
13. Why does the author mention MindLink in paragraph 4
A.To remove public doubts about AI chat tools.
B.To introduce the disadvantages of AI tools.
C.To explain the experimental results from Rabadan’s team.
D.To clarify how the AI model functions.
14. What does paragraph 5 mainly stress about the new AI model
A.Its popularity. B.Its application value. C.Its complexity. D.Its design inspiration.
15. Which can be a suitable title for the text
A.New AI Model Exposes Secrets of Human Cells
B.Scientists Unlock the Secret of Blood Cancers
C.Advances in AI Fuel a Heated Debate in Biology
D.AI Tools Are Widely Used to Treat Rare Diseases

When my brother Jake left for college, gone was the laughter that once filled our home. Jake wasn’t just my brother — he was my best friend and the one who always knew how to pull me out of my darkest moods. His absence left a huge hole in my life, and no amount of video calls or texts could fill it. Then came the news: Marco, an exchange student from Italy, would be staying in Jake’s room.
“Marco In Jake’s room ” I asked, my voice trembling. “But that’s his space.” My mom, trying to comfort me, said, “Marco’s excited to be here. You might even learn something new.” I wasn’t convinced. The idea felt like a betrayal (背叛), as if we were replacing Jake.
When Marco arrived, he was nothing like I had expected. He was tall, with dark curly hair and a confident smile that seemed to light up the room. He greeted me with a cheerful “Hello!” and immediately started unpacking his things. I stood awkwardly in the doorway, watching as he transformed Jake’s room into his own space. Overwhelmed (不知所措的), I whispered a quick “Hi” and returned to my room.
The first few days were tense. Marco, chatting with my parents about Naples, tried to include me, but I kept my distance. One evening, I overheard him talking about how much he missed playing soccer with his friends back home. “It’s not just a game,” he said. “It’s a way of life.” I rolled my eyes.
Then, one Saturday afternoon, everything changed. My parents had to attend a wedding out of town, leaving Marco and me in the house. I busied myself with my own things in my room, trying to avoid any interaction. But around midday, Marco knocked on my door. “Hey, I’m going to play some soccer in the backyard. Want to join me ” he asked. I hesitated. Soccer had never been my thing — I was more of a basketball person. But the thought of sitting alone in my room all day didn’t sound appealing either.

1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Finally, I followed Marco into the backyard.

五、读后续写参考范文
Finally, I followed Marco into the backyard. He handed me an old soccer ball and patiently showed me basic skills. At first, I kept missing the ball and felt embarrassed, but he never laughed at me. Instead, he encouraged me gently and shared funny stories about his soccer teammates in Italy. We ran, passed and chased the ball under the warm sun. All my coldness and prejudice faded away little by little. We talked freely about our hobbies, hometowns and favourite sports as we played.
That day marked a turning point in my relationship with Marco. We gradually got along well after that afternoon. We shared meals, watched movies and chatted every day. He taught me simple Italian while I helped him with his Chinese. Though Marco could never take Jake’s place in my heart, he brought brand-new joy and warm friendship to our quiet house. I finally understood that new friends don’t replace old ones; they just fill the empty space with new beautiful memories.
