I have been interested in natural wonders since I was a child. I have read many books about famous explorers and dreamed of following in their footsteps. Last summer, I finally got the chance to visit the Grand Canyon科罗拉多大峡谷 with my parents.
We arrived at the South Rim early in the morning. When I first saw the canyon, I was completely speechless. It was far more amazing than any photo I had ever seen. The guide told us that the canyon was formed by the Colorado River over millions of years. Its depth reaches 1.6 kilometers, and its width is up to 29 kilometers.
We spent the whole day hiking along the trail. The weather was changeable, and it rained suddenly in the afternoon. But it didn’t ruin our trip. The rain made the canyon look even more beautiful, with rainbows appearing in the sky. We took hundreds of photos and talked with other travellers from different countries.
In the evening, we watched the sunset over the canyon. The sky turned from orange to red, and the rocks glowed in the sunset. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. I realized how small humans are compared to nature, and how important it is to protect these natural wonders.
