Tiana Barron, founder of Jaxx Fontaine D’eau, a high-quality spring water brand for dogs, regards her bond with animals as her source of healing. Her rescued dog from Hurricane Katrina inspired the business, which she imagined for five years before launching in Orange County. “I’ve given my dog bottled water for years, even before it was common for humans,” she explains. However, her decision to formalize (使规范化) this practice into a business originated from a deeper purpose: “I wanted to honor the unconditional love animals give us. They fill emotional gaps that humans sometimes can’t.”
Scientific studies highlight dogs’ ability to improve mental health — reducing loneliness, stress, and depression. Tiana’s experience aligns with these findings. Her dog helped her address personal struggles, offering companionship even her children couldn’t match. “Animals have pure souls; they’re irreplaceable,” she says. For Tiana, this connection goes beyond practicality — it’s emotional and spiritual.
Launching Jaxx Fontaine D’eau faced considerable barriers: relocating, home redecoration, and financial risks. Yet Tiana carried on it, driven by perseverance and sympathy. “I’m a fighter. I’ve had a tough life, but I always get up and fight again. Everything happens in your journey when it’s supposed to, not when you want,” she asserts. Her journey reflects that she ranks animal welfare over profit. “This isn’t just a business — it’s a tribute (致敬) to the love dogs deserve.” she adds.
Tiana’s story is not just about business success; it’s about living in grace and trying hard to create a better world. She hopes that her story will inspire others to respect one another, regardless of their differences. “I’m so sensitive to people and emotions, and it upsets me to see division. I don’t care how you choose to live your life, but be nice to each other. We’re not here to judge and be mean,” she emphasizes.
14. What drove Tiana Barron to launch Jaxx Fontaine D’eau
A.Her appreciation for animals’ love.
B.Her belief in dogs’ healing power.
C.Her ambition of making a fortune.

From social relationships to work challenges, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek to address different personal issues. They describe sharing their thoughts and receiving helpful feedback from the popular chatbot. As a rising trend on social media, AI therapy (疗法) is changing the way people seek mental health support. But can AI truly replace a human therapist
Globally, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not receive it, with barriers including cost and a lack of providers, according to Huntington Psychological Services. Daniel Lowd, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the lack of therapy services. “If people can find some support and perspective by talking to ChatGPT or chatbot Claude, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek.
Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’s needs for emotional support to some extent. By using basic knowledge of psychotherapy, DeepSeek can help with minor mental issues through comforting responses, Li told Shanghai Observer.
However, he points out that AI cannot completely replace professionals due to the human touch that is important for therapeutic services. Therapists develop a deeper understanding of people’s emotions and needs through communication, which allows them to offer more tailored treatment plans, Shanghai Observer reported.
The use of AI in psychotherapy also raises concerns over the reliability of responses. “AI chatbots will respond as therapists if asked, without any of the inspection, training or responsibility of a human counselor or even a specialized and tested piece of software,” Richard Lachman, an associate professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, told Newsweek.
Experts believe the key to effective AI therapy lies in proper government regulation. Wysa, for example, is a mental health app that offers therapeutic conversations with an AI chatbot. In 2022, it worked with the UK’s National Health Service, following a list of strict standards. As AI becomes more a part of our lives, understanding its effects on human psychology means finding a balance between what’s helpful and what’s dangerous.
17. How could AI help us according to Daniel Lowd
A.By improving the quality of therapy.
B.By reducing the cost of therapy.
C.By providing more psychological aids.
D.By curing human of mental issues.
18. What is Li Yong’s attitude towards AI therapy
A.Pessimistic.
B.Optimistic.
C.Objective.
D.Ambiguous.
19. Why is a human counselor mentioned in paragraph 5
A.To question the reliability of AI therapy.
B.To praise human’s insight into mental issues.
C.To prove the necessity of professional training.
D.To stress the responsibility of human therapists.
20. What does the example in the last paragraph show us
A.The need for suitable state control.
B.The importance of developing more advanced AI.
C.The dangerous effects of AI on human psychology.
D.The popularization of AI across nations.

九、书面表达(读后续写)
59. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The first week of the new semester always carried a strange kind of energy — new classes, new faces, and the quiet hope of starting over. As a 11th-grade transfer student, I walked into the noisy classroom with my head low, clutching (紧握) my backpack strap like a lifeline. Everything felt foreign — the laughter, the inside jokes, the invisible circles I wasn’t part of. My new desk mate, Olivia, sat by the window, her notebook perfectly organized, her confidence filling the space between us. When she noticed me hesitating, she smiled, slid a neatly written class schedule across the desk, and in a soft voice said she’d show me around at lunch. That small gesture made me want to belong — to be seen.
So when she mentioned the debate club after class, I told her I’d been on the debate team and had even won a regional contest. It wasn’t planned. The lie just slipped out, smooth and effortless, like it had been waiting for its cue. Her eyes lit up, and for the first time, I felt noticed — no longer just the quiet new kid.
A few days later, Olivia came running up with a sign- up sheet.“ The annual school-wide debate competition is in a month — we should team up!” she exclaimed, her enthusiasm unshakable. I tried to match her energy, but the panic settled deeper each time I imagined standing on stage. Four weeks to prepare — it felt endless and terrifying at the same time.
At our first rehearsal (排练), I stumbled over debate terms, struggled to organize arguments, and froze when asked to practice rebuttals (反驳). Some teammates exchanged eye rolls and quiet laughs that stung more than their whispers. Olivia didn’t say anything; her smile faded, polite yet puzzled.
By Friday, the lie felt heavier than the weight on my shoulders. Each“ keep going” she offered sounded like a test I couldn’t pass. That night, I stared at my debate notes, the words swimming before my eyes. I knew I couldn’t keep pretending. Something had to give.
注意:
1.写作词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
During the next rehearsal, I finally admitted the truth to everyone.

八、倡议信范文
Dear fellow students,
To build a low-carbon campus is vital to protect our environment and form good living habits. Small green actions can greatly cut carbon waste.
We can take practical steps. Save electricity by turning off unused lights and taps. Bring reusable bottles and cloth bags instead of plastic ones. Walk or cycle around campus rather than take electric vehicles. Sort waste strictly and avoid food waste.
Let’s start with ourselves and work together to create a green, beautiful campus.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
九、读后续写范文
During the next rehearsal, I finally admitted the truth to everyone. My voice trembled as I explained I had lied about my debate experience just to fit in. I apologized sincerely for wasting their time and was ready to drop out of the team. Unexpectedly, Olivia patted my shoulder softly. She said honesty mattered more than perfect skills. Other teammates comforted me and promised to train me patiently in spare time.
A month later, Olivia and I stepped onto the stage together, ready for the big day. Thanks to weeks of joint practice, I mastered argument organization and quick rebuttals. Though we didn’t win first prize, we finished the debate calmly and fluently. Standing side by side, I realized true friendship and self-worth never need false lies to support.
