Van Gogh went to stay with his brother in Paris in 1886. There, he experienced the bright colours of famous French painters. This was when Van Gogh developed his famous style—using short brushstrokes of thick paint and bright colours. After moving to the countryside two years later, he painted his most famous works, inclading Sunflowers.
