A mother and daughter in England have been putting smiles on strangers’ faces with random (随机的) acts of kindness.Every week, Sophie-Louise Corrigan allows her 5-year-old daughter Amina to choose random strangers to put a smile on their faces.
When Corrigan is with her daughter Amina, Corrigan will let the little girl go to whoever she is drawn. Later, Corrigan will ask why Amina opts for them. Her answer is always because she likes something about them, either their tops or their hair. Amina always takes her pick.
It’s a tradition that started with Corrigan’s own mother. “Mum and I used to do it. Whenever we had some money left from the weekly shop or if we really wanted to do it that week, we took out something from the shop to make sure we had the money. We would always do it,” said Corrigan.
“Now, we do it everywhere, even when we went on holiday to another city, we did a random act of kindness there. We find flowers and chocolates whether it be in Ormskirk, Liver-pool or Wirral. Wherever we go, we do it,” said Corrigan.
“The reaction is amazing and is one of the reasons why we carry on. A number of people who spoke to us didn’t even know what to say. They were speechless. There were a lot of people who gave Amina a hug after it. She loves such a hug. There were others who had tears welling up. They said that they had such a terrible week either with bills or a family death. Amina will always say to me that although the person was crying, it was happy tears. She is in the process of understanding how acts of kindness work and how feelings work.”
24. What does Corrigan ask Amina to do every week
A. Stay with her mother.
B. Be kind to strangers.
C. Make friends with others.

A. People need happiness.
B. Few people live a hard life.
C. Some people like being silent.
D. Most people are friendly to others.
27. What can we conclude from the text
A. Only good people have friends.
B. Where there is life, there is hope.
C. Kindness is like a ray of sunshine.
D. A kind man can gain more from others.

Adaptation and innovation (创新) of traditional opera is an important trend in Chinese opera circle in recent years. In order to attract young audience of new generation and catch up with the time, traditional opera circle makes efforts to create new works. In recent years, traditional opera has come across the change of time and society. It gradually lost the main elderly audience and was not attractive for the young.
In order to find new opportunities, using modern sound, light and digital stage effects, China’s traditional Peking, also known as jingju, Opera is appealing to young people in a fashionable and innovative way, as the classic art faces an aging audience.
The centuries-old Tianleyuan Theater in Beijing has introduced fashionable performances of Peking Opera. The opera combines instrumental music, vocal performance, mime (哑剧表演), dance and acrobatics (杂技).
Tianleyuan has a jingju art experience section and fashionable performances. It has attracted more than 2,000 audience members, mostly young people, according to theater staff.
“Good art should keep pace with the times, so does jingju,” said Zhang Zishang, a 22-year-old performer of The Drunken Beauty, one of the classic jingju plays performed in the theater. “I feel today’s performance is very special,” Zhang added. She was born into a family of jingju performers and has had 10 years of stage experience. “Innovation is good, but we must also carry on the basic elements of jingju,” another young performer Deng said.
According to Deng, innovation is perhaps the best way for jingju to deal with the problem of an aging audience. It has made successful attempts to combine jingju with local opera forms such as ballet when organizing performances abroad. “Innovation can help traditional arts go further. We are happy to see many young faces, and some of them even come twice to experience the ‘new’ art,” she added.

Many people have an immediate negative reaction to the word fat But according to a new study, fat tissue (组织) itself is very, very important for health. It’s an important place to store the extra energy in our body. Fat tissue is supposed to be stored under the skin. If it can’t go there, it’s going to other places such as your liver, heart or pancreas (胰腺). More fat in those organs could affect how well they function. Exercising regularly over time makes fat tissue a more accommodating place for extra energy under conditions when we do gain weight.
To see how exercise impacts fat tissue, researchers compared fat tissue just under the skin from two groups of 16 people with overweight problem: those who reported exercising at least four times a week for at least 2 years, and those who did not exercise regularly. People who had a history of regular exercise in the past had fat cells with features that allowed them to store more fat.
Result from the former group showed several structural changes in fat tissue, including slightly smaller fat cells and more of them, and changes in proteins (蛋白质) that adjust body fat remodeling. However, many of the above changes disappeared when regular exercise stopped. Dr. Horowitz, professor of movement studies at the University of Michigan, said, “This is one of the big reasons why it is so important to be physically active most days. A lot of the body’s exercises help you to keep going longer or push harder in your works.”
The key takeaway of the study is that we’re broadening our understanding of why it is helpful to exercise. There are so many ways to exercise, and figuring out a way to make it part of the daily routine plays an important role. Of course, you should check with your doctor first to make sure it’s safe.

D. Its function is to control health.
33. How are the participants in the research grouped
A. By their health problem.
B. By their body weight.
C. By their workout habit.

A. Weight loss depends on less fat tissue.
B. Exercise can reshape protein structure.
C. Harder training results in stronger fat tissue.
D. Fat tissue is sensitive to exercise frequency.
35. What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A. To raise a proposal.
B. To present evidence.
C. To prove the finding.
D. To advance the study.
