Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher were lost in McDougal’s Cave (洞穴). It was dark and cold. Their candles (蜡烛) were burning low.
“Tom, I’m so scared,” Becky said in a low voice, holding his hand hard.
“Don’t worry, Becky. I’ll find the way out,” Tom said, though his own heart was beating fast. He remembered seeing a side passage earlier. Maybe it led to the river. They walked slowly, feeling the walls with their hands. Suddenly, Tom stopped. He saw a small light far away.
“Look! Do you see that ” he asked excitedly.
“It might be people searching for us!” Becky cried.
They moved toward the light as quickly as they could. But when they got closer, Tom saw it was not searchers. It was the moving light of a candle — and beside it sat Injun Joe, the dangerous criminal (罪犯)!
Tom quickly put his hand over Becky’s mouth before she could cry out loud. They moved back without a sound, their hearts beating hard and fast. Tom knew they must not make a sound. Injun Joe had a knife and would not wait to hurt them.
After what felt like a very long time, they were far enough away. Tom thought hard. There had to be another way out. He remembered something his friend Huck once told him: “The cave has many secret holes that open to the outside.” Tom looked up and noticed a little daylight high above them.
“Becky, look up there! I see light from outside. If we can climb up, we might get away!”
Becky was too weak to climb, so Tom helped her every step of the way. They used rocks and small trees as steps. Finally, they pulled themselves out into the warm sunshine. They were free!

Can you imagine what it is like to lose your ability to see Everyday tasks like reading a menu, crossing the street, or knowing a friend’s face can become very difficult. But in 2025, a new invention is changing that.
Ally Solos smart glasses are made for people who are blind or cannot see well. These glasses look like a normal pair of glasses, but inside them, there is powerful AI technology. Small cameras are built into the front of the glasses. These cameras can “see” the world just like human eyes. They take pictures of whatever is in front of the user—a restaurant menu, a street sign, or even a person’s face. Then the AI system works quickly to understand what is in those pictures. Finally, the user hears a voice through tiny speakers in the glasses, telling them clearly what is there.
So how do you use these glasses It is very simple. You just put them on and speak. You can say, “Ally, read this menu,” and the glasses will read the text out loud. If you say, “Who is in front of me ” the glasses will tell the person by saying something like, “A woman with a red jacket and short hair.” You can even ask the glasses to search the web for information. The glasses connect to an app on your phone through Bluetooth.
This invention gives blind people more power to do things by themselves. Without the glasses, they often need a guide dog or another person to help them. With the glasses, they can do many things on their own, such as going to a new place, shopping at a store, or reading a letter from a friend. One user said, “These glasses let me live my life without always asking for help.”
Ally Solos glasses can now be ordered before the official sale. They cost about 399 dollars, which is less than the usual price of 699 dollars. The future of AI glasses is bright, and it is bringing hope to millions of people around the world.

A.To sell a pair of smart glasses to the reader.
B.To explain how AI smart glasses help blind people.

D.They take pictures of things in front of the user.
34. How does the article show that the glasses give users more power to do things by themselves

Did you hear of the Ancient Tea Horse Road It was an old trade route in China. This road connected Yunnan and Sichuan with Xizang. It was not just one road. It was a network of paths (小路). Traders had to climb high mountains and cross deep rivers on their way.
Why was it called the Tea Horse Road Because people traded tea for horses on this road. In Yunnan and Sichuan, people grew a lot of tea. In Xizang, people needed tea to help their digestion (消化) after eating meat and milk. But Xizang had very good horses. So the tea traders from the south carried tea to Xizang, and the locals gave horses in return.
The journey was very hard. It usually took traders months to walk on this route. They carried heavy bags of tea on their backs or on horses and mules (骡子). They crossed snowy mountains and climbed steep cliffs (陡峭的悬崖). Many traders got sick or hurt, but they did not give up. They knew that tea and horses were very important to both sides.
The Tea Horse Road was not only for trading. It also helped spread cultures and ideas. People from different places met on the road. They shared songs, stories, and customs (风俗). Buddhism (佛教) traveled along this road into Xizang as well.
Today, the Ancient Tea Horse Road is no longer used for trade, but its history lives on. Visitors can still walk on some parts of the road and see the old stone paths. The road reminds us of the brave traders who connected different parts of China.

How to Use the Internet Wisely
The internet is very important in our life. But some students do not use it in a right way. They spend too much time online, which causes eye problems and affects their study. Some even leak personal information or receive bad messages.
Here are my suggestions. First, we should control screen time and rest our eyes regularly. Second, keep our personal information safe. Never tell strangers our addresses or passwords. Third, ignore bad messages and report them to parents or teachers.
The internet brings us much fun and knowledge. Let’s use it wisely and make good use of it.
