Many concerts are held in different cities every year. Music lovers always look forward to these nights to see their favorite artists. Attending a concert is about having fun, but there are some rules to obey at the same time. Following these rules will help make sure that all audience members enjoy the concert without problems!
√ Do eat and drink beforehand to make sure you have enough energy for the concert. Most concert venues (场馆) don’t let you bring food or drinks inside—this keeps the seats and floors clean for everyone.
√ Do dress properly and comfortably. You can check the venue’s front desk or website for any banned (禁止的) clothing, like clothes that show too much skin or have bad words on them.
√ Do make friends with people around you. After all, you already have one thing in common—your music taste! A short talk about your favorite songs can make the night even happier.
× Do not block the view of the people behind you. Avoid wearing big head accessories (头饰) like large hats, or raising your smartphone high to record. This way, everyone can see the stage clearly.
× Do not scream or shout while an artist is speaking. It’s polite to listen quietly so no one misses what the artist says.
× Do not throw things at the stage or the artist. This is dangerous and rude to both the performers and other fans.
× Do not fight over things the artist throws into the crowd, like signed photos. Be kind and take turns—winning a small gift isn’t worth spoiling (破坏) the fun for others.
21. Why can’t the audience bring food into concert venues

I was born in Portugal (葡萄牙), and when I was one year old, my family moved to France. At home, we spoke Portuguese. When we had guests, we spoke French. Therefore, I was born knowing two languages.
But I never went to Portuguese school. When I became a teenager, I felt something was missing. I felt like I could not fully understand my culture. I decided to teach myself to read in Portuguese. I went to a bookshop near our house and bought some classics. I still have them and love them very much.
The best memories of my childhood were when I went back to Portugal. If I did not know a word, my brain would go into French mode and I would translate it directly. Once, I was talking to my aunts about star signs. I said that my sign was Cancer (巨蟹座). In Portuguese, the correct word is “Crab.” Cancer is only used for the disease. I can still see the puzzled look on their faces. After working out what I meant, they had a good laugh.
Now I speak more languages than before. I speak Spanish with my husband, French with my children and English at work. The result is that I often blurt out (脱口而出) “Portunhol,” a funny mix of Portuguese and Spanish. But isn’t that an interesting thing in my life
Anyway, I think every language has its advantages. When I read the same book in French, Spanish and English, I do not feel the same way. That’s why I think that even if AI can one day free us from the need to learn a language, it won’t help us feel the charm of other languages.
24. How did the writer learn to read in Portuguese
A.By going to a Portuguese school.
B.By teaching herself.
C.By asking her aunts for help.
25. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about
A.The writer’s happy childhood memories in Portugal.
B.A funny language mistake the writer made in Portugal.
C.How the writer improved her Portuguese in Portugal.
26. What can we know about the writer from the passage
A.She is not interested in learning languages.
B.She values the charm of different languages.
C.She thinks AI can replace language learning.
27. Which is the best title for the passage
A.When I Speak Several Languages
B.How to Learn Multiple (多种的) Languages
C.The Differences Between Portuguese and French

Are children smarter than adults The answer is “yes” when it comes to learning new things. A new study shows that kids pick up new knowledge and skills faster than adults.
The study was carried out by scientists from the U.S.A. and Germany. In the study, some kids and adults learned the same lessons of new information and skills. The children were 8 to 11 years old. And the adults were 18 to 35 years old. During the process, kids often stayed more focused, while adults sometimes got distracted by other thoughts. The scientists looked at their GABA (γ-氨基丁酸) levels before, during and after these lessons. GABA is a chemical that our brains produce. It helps us remember newly learned information.
According to the study, the GABA levels in the children’s brains increased quickly during the lessons. This increase lasted for several minutes after the lessons were over. In the adults, however, there was no change in their GABA levels during or after the lessons.
The scientists then tested the effects of their learning. The results found that the children did learn more efficiently. They learned more items in the same amount of time than the adults.
This study encourages people to give children more chances to learn new skills, like painting or playing musical instruments. It could also be used to help adults learn faster. “We might develop a new technology, for example, to increase the amount of GABA in the adult brain,” said one of the scientists.
28. How old were the children in the study
A.8 to 11 years old.
B.18 to 35 years old.
C.11 to 18 years old.
29. Why do children learn new things faster than adults according to the study
A.Children have more free time to learn.
B.Children’s GABA levels increase during learning.
C.Most of the adults are not interested in new knowledge.
30. What does “distracted” mean in Paragraph 2
A.Happy and excited.
B.Focused on one thing.
C.Unable to pay attention.
31. Which is the best title for the passage
A.Younger, Faster Learners
B.How to Improve GABA Levels
C.Different Skills for Children to Learn

Last Wednesday, the sky turned dark suddenly after school. I looked up and saw thick black clouds—rain was coming. I remembered I’d left my umbrella at home, and my mom was working late, so no one could bring it to me. I stood under the school gate, feeling worried.
Just as I was about to run into the rain, a voice called my name. It was Lily, my classmate who sat next to me. She held a big umbrella and smiled. “Let’s share it together,” she said. I was so happy. We walked slowly, and the umbrella was just big enough for two people. Lily lived in the opposite direction from me, but she walked me all the way to my building first.
When I got to the door, I turned to thank her. Her shoulder was wet from the rain, because she’d held the umbrella more towards me. “You’re getting wet!” I said. She waved her hand and laughed. “It’s okay! I’ll be home soon.” Then she turned and walked back into the rain.
That rainy day, Lily’s kindness felt like a warm sun in my heart. Now, whenever I see someone in trouble, I try to help them, just like Lily helped me.
