“I can’t wait any longer,” I thought. I took a flashlight (手电筒) and walked into the forest. Tree shadows looked terrible, so I held the light tightly. As I was worried that Dad might be lost or in trouble, I walked into the forest hurriedly.
The wind blew harder, and the leaves made noise. I was afraid and kept looking back, but I saw nothing. The light of the flashlight became weaker and weaker. It was dying. Just then, I heard someone shout, “Xiaoyu Is that you ”
It was Dad! I shouted, “Dad! I’m here!” I saw the light move, and then I saw his orange ranger clothes. “Son, why are you here ” Dad asked. Scientists have studied orcas (虎鲸) and dolphins (海豚). They found something amazing: the two sea animals may work together to hunt (捕猎) salmon (大马哈鱼)! Both are smart, but it’s unusual for different kinds of animals to team up like this.
Orcas, also called “killer whales”, are strong and usually hunt in groups. They live near Canada’s coast (海岸) and love eating big salmon. Dolphins here, however, usually eat small fish and can’t catch salmon alone. Scientists once wondered why dolphins often stayed near orcas.
Recently, scientists recorded the animals hunting. They found dolphins often led the hunt! Both use “echolocation (回声定位)” to find things. They take turns to send sounds. Orcas follow dolphins’ echoes to find fish.
Dolphins act as “scouts”. They use their speed to find and go after salmon. Then strong orcas catch the fish. This teamwork helps both: orcas get more food, and dolphins eat the leftovers (剩余食物).
But here comes the question: Is this really true teamwork, or just a lucky habit Scientists are still not sure. They will watch these animals more closely to find out the answer.

You just don’t get along with some people. That doesn’t mean you dislike them, but you don’t have much to talk about. This can happen to anyone—yes, even you.
So, if you meet such people, what can you do Here is a good way to break the ice: find a goal you can work on together!
Scientists from the UK did a study with children aged between 6 and 8. They wanted to see how friends and non-friends talk to each other during different activities.
In the study, the scientists put children in different pairs. Some pairs were good friends. Other pairs were familiar with each other but weren’t close friends. Each pair spent time in two different ways. First, they had free play time. Next, they had a task to finish together.
The scientists watched how they talked. Here is what they found. During free play, non-friend pairs did not talk much. But when working on a task together, they talked a lot more! In fact, they talked even more than the friend pairs did.
Emily Goodacre, one of the scientists, explained the finding: “If you want to work better with someone you’re not friends with, just find a shared goal. It can help you talk more and get along better.”
So, next time you’re with a classmate you don’t really talk to, why not try it Work on something together—you might be surprised how much you end up chatting!
