作文范文:
Good afternoon, everyone. I am Li Hua. I am happy to share my experience of a voluntary work.
I have been a volunteer at the nearby nursing home since last September. Every Sunday morning, I
go there to spend 2 hours with the old people.
I was very busy with many tasks at the nursing home. What I did most is to chat with them.
They loved talking about their past lives, like how they raised their kids. What’s more, I taught them
simple phone skills, such as making video calls to their family. Finally, I read newpapers aloud for
them or played chess with them. I was nervous at first, but gradually I got along well with the old
people. We are like a big family.
Volunteering at the nursing home makes my weekends more meaningful and I have learned
to be more patient and caring. Let’s all take part in the volunteer activities from now on and make
the society a better place.

Facing new challenges can help us grow better
Our comfort zone seems to become smaller as we get older—but if we can keep
expanding it, we’ll open ourselves up to a greater world as we grow. As we step into the
learning zone, we will get more comfortable with the skills gradually and we’ll start to move
into the comfort zone. A study found that learning new life skills can help our brain stay
sharp as we get older.
However, don’t push yourself too far. Have you heard of “Yerkes-Dodson Law” It
means performance increases as stress grows, but only up to a point. If the level of stress
