Pets like dogs and cats are usually popular with people. If you keep a dog or a cat, do you always turn on the radio or TV when you’re not in just because you don’t want your pet to be lonely A study shows that around 40% of the British people with dogs would like to turn on the radio and that 32% would like to turn on the television. But do pets really like this
Sometimes dogs do respond (作出反应) to human music. A study shows that when there is light music playing, many dogs seem to be quiet. When it comes to rock music, those dogs seem to be very excited; they make little response to popular music and human talk.
For cats, they hardly (几乎不) respond to human music because their hearing spectrum (频谱) is different from that of humans, so what they hear when they listen to our music is different from what we hear. Some studies show that cats respond to the sounds within their own hearing spectrum. Scientists once tried to see what would happen if they played “cat music” for the cats. They asked Professor (教授) David Teie to make special music for cats. And it showed that when they’re playing it to 47 cats, some cats did respond to it.
So, you’d better play different music for your pets. Good news for cat lovers is that you can buy such special cat music online. David Teie once took part in the cat study and he wrote cat music for sale online.

A.How can we look after pets
B.What kind of music do dogs love

D.Do dogs and cats like human music

“I have no more wood for the fire. The lamb (羔羊) is only half cooked. Never mind! Instead of you Pinocchio, I’ll burn some other marionette (木偶). Hey, there! Officers!” Fire Eater said.
Then two wooden officers appeared with hats on their heads and swords (剑) in their hands. Fire Eater shouted at them loudly, “Take Harlequin, tie him and throw him on the fire. I want my lamb well done!”
Harlequin was so scared that his legs doubled up under him and he fell to the floor. When seeing that, Pinocchio threw himself at the feet of Fire Eater. He cried sadly and asked in a pitiful voice which could hardly be heard, “Have pity (怜悯), I beg (乞求) of you, Sir!”
“There are no sirs here!”
“Have pity, your Excellency (阁下)!”
When he heard that, Fire Eater sat up very straight on his chair and suddenly became kind. He smiled proudly as he said to Pinocchio, “Well, what do you want from me now ”
“I beg for mercy for my poor friend, Harlequin, who has never done the least harm in his life.”
“There is no mercy here, Pinocchio. I have spared (饶恕) you. I will burn Harlequin instead of you. I am hungry and my dinner must be cooked.”
“In that case,” said Pinocchio proudly, as he stood up and threw away his cap, “my duty (责任) is e here, officers. Tie me up and throw me on the fire. No, it is not fair (公平的) for poor Harlequin, the best friend that I have in the world, to die instead of me!”
These brave words made all the other marionettes cry. Even the officers, who were also made of wood, cried like two babies.

Pinocchio ran to Fire Eater and gave him a kiss on the tip of his nose.
“Has a pardon (赦免) been given to me ” asked poor Harlequin in a low voice.
