Do you often run outside to keep healthy Do you ever think about how running can help clean up the earth Sometimes a creative mind can bring us a win-win (双赢) way.
Plogging, a new way to exercise, began in Sweden. The name “plogging” comes from two words-the Swedish (瑞典的) word “plocka” It means to “pick up”, and the word “jogging”, which means “to run slowly”. A Swedish man called Erik started the activity. He saw rubbish here and there when riding to work every day. He became worried about the bad environment (环境) and decided not to go to work by bike any more. And then, he began to run to work and pick up the rubbish at the same time. To his joy, more and more people followed him and plogging became popular.
Many people choose plogging not just jogging because they think plogging is a good way to help clean up the earth. Sometimes rubbish is difficult to collect because it may spread out all around. But if the runners pick up the rubbish on the way, it is quite different. After all (毕竟), many hands make light work. Another reason is that plogging burns more calories (卡路里). According to a study, plogging for 10 minutes burns 48 calories, while usual jogging for 10 minutes burns 39 calories.
Everyone on the earth should play a part in cleaning it up! It’s time for us to start together. So ready Let’s plog tomorrow!

June 1,2026 is the start of China’s flood season, and southern China enters its “main flood season” on this day. The main flood season is the time of year when rain is the heaviest, river water is the highest, and floods happen most often. China is very big, so the main flood season is not the same in all places. In southern China, like the Yangtze River and Pearl River areas, the main flood season is from June to August. In northern China, like the Yellow River area, it is from July to August. There is also a “critical flood control period” (关键防洪期) from July 16 to August 15. During this time, floods are very possible to happen all over China.
This year, experts (专家) say the flood problem could be very bad. Early heavy rains make rivers and lakes have high water levels (水位). Some big rivers may have floods in June.
To stay safe, follow these tips: First, watch closely weather and flood warnings (预警) (blue, yellow, orange, red). When we get a warning, stay indoors and stay away from mountains, riverbanks, and low places. Second, if outdoors during heavy rain, keep away from power poles, trees, and metal fences; never walk through flooded streets. Shallow (浅的)water may have strong water flows (水流)or broken roads. Third, if you live in mountains, watch for flash floods. If water rises quickly, go to higher ground at once. Never cross a flooded river. Your life is more important than your things. Finally, prepare some daily needs like drinking water, food, flashlights and a first-aid kit at home. Remember important phone numbers: 110,119,120.
As the old saying goes, “It is better to be safe than sorry.” Following these rules helps keep us and others safe during the flood season.
58.When is the main flood season in southern China
A. From April to October. B. From June to August.
C. From July to August. D. From July 16 to August 15.
59.Why do experts think the flood problem could be very bad this year
A. Because the flood season starts much earlier this year.
B. Because early heavy rains have made water levels in rivers and lakes high.
C. Because there are more big rivers in China this year.
D. Because people don’t know how to prepare for floods.
60.What can we infer (推断) from the passage
A. People in southern China don’t need to worry about floods in June.
B. All big rivers in China will have very bad floods in June.
C. Preparing daily needs at home is helpful during floods.
D. It is safe to walk through flooded streets if the water looks shallow.
61.What is the main purpose of this passage
A. To tell us the history of floods in China.
B. To explain why floods happen in summer.
C. To show us different rivers in China.
D. To introduce flood seasons and safety tips in China.

During the Qing Dynasty, there were special houses for dogs in the palace. Emperor Yongzheng loved dogs so much that he designed clothes for them himself. In the late Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi really loved Pekingese dogs; over 1,000 lived in the palace, and some even had personal keepers.

Sunday, 21 June, 2026 Sunny
Last weekend, I went cycling to the Forest Park with my friends. After breakfast, we set off for the park. Green trees, a sea of flowers, different-shaped hills and fresh clean air calmed our mood.
We walked along the river, took beautiful photos, had a forest picnic and chased a white rabbit but failed. At night, we put up tents and slept under stars. These activities brought us laughter and sweet memories.
It was a rare chance to break away from busy study and get close to nature. I felt peaceful and joyful, treasured this happy day and looked forward to another trip.
