“Ni hao, we’re all Chinese now.”
This is what many foreign young people are saying on TikTok today. A new trend (趋势) called “Becoming Chinese” has become very popular in the West. Thousands of people are sharing videos of themselves “learning to be Chinese.” Young people are falling in love with the Chinese way of life, and they think it is very cool. Here is some advice to become Chinese!
●Start the day with a cup of warm tea to relax themselves.
●Wear soft indoor slippers (拖鞋) to keep away from “han qi” (cold energy).
●Practice Tai Chi with others in parks.
●Take a hot foot bath (足浴) before going to bed.
In the past, people thought Chinese healthy living habits were only for the old. In China, this is called “Yang Sheng”, which means taking care of one’s health to live a long and healthy life. But now many foreign young people make videos about their practices.
Why is this trend so popular The main reason is that in a busy and stressful (有压力的) world, Chinese habits are helpful for people to feel better. For example, drinking warm water is better for our body than cold drinks. Wearing indoor slippers keeps the house clean and the feet relaxed. Young people find that these small changes can be good for their health and mind.
This trend also shows that China’s “soft power (软实力 )” is growing. From collecting Labubu dolls to drinking Mixue bubble tea, Chinese brands (品牌) are becoming a part of young people’s culture. When people wear clothes made in China, use technology created (创造) in China, and follow trends started in China, “becoming Chinese” is really becoming a popular way of life in the world.
As Chinese teenagers, we should take pride in this. We share our culture with an open heart. Let’s pass on our cultural treasures, tell good Chinese stories, and let the world see the beauty of China.

①The loong is often the main character in Chinese celebrations. Loong dances have been recorded at traditional celebrations since the Han Dynasty, while fire loong dances began appearing in records (记录) during the Qing Dynasty. Some historians say fire loong dances date back to the Ming Dynasty. Today, fire loong dances can be seen all over China as part of the Spring Festival celebrations.
②In Hunan Province, the Xiangxi Steel Fire Loong takes place every year during the Lantern Festival. It is popular thanks to the local people who tirelessly introduce it online. Fireworks shoot out from many bamboo pipes placed on each side of the dance route and loong dancers face the sparks (火花) bravely. Some of the dances end by running the loong into a river; others aren’t over until the loong is completely burnt out.
③In Sichuan Province, Huanglonxi Ancient Town hosts its fire loong dance on the first five days and the 15th day of the first lunar month. Instead of fireworks, molten iron (铁水) is thrown into the air. As the lava cools and sends sparks into the air, the loong “follows” a lantern, creating an amazing show.
④In Guizhou Province, the Dafang County Fire Loong Dance falls on the ninth day of the first lunar month every year. Instead of lighting the loong on fire, it has a colorful lantern that has an artistic design and is lit from within. Fireworks are laid on the ground to create a shiny performance around the dance route as dancers move around the town with their loong.

The Chinese government has started a national plan to help people manage their weight and live healthier lives. Experts say that obesity (肥胖) is becoming a big health problem. This plan encourages better eating, regular exercise, and weight control.
Why is obesity a problem
Being overweight is not just appearance. It can cause serious health problems like blood pressure, diabetes (糖尿病), heart disease, and even cancer. If nothing changes, studies show that by 2030, 70.5% of adults (成年人) and 31.8% of children could be overweight or obese. If people do not act now, they may face serious health problems at a younger age.
What is healthy weight
Doctors use Body Mass Index (BMI) to check if someone’s weight is healthy. For adults, a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24. If your BMI is from 24 to 28, you’re overweight. A BMI of 28 or higher means you’re obese. Also, doctors suggest measuring your waist (腰围) : men should keep it under 90 cm and women under 85 cm.
To stay healthy, people should eat a balanced diet. They can choose whole grains like brown rice (糙米), fresh vegetables and lean proteins (低脂蛋白质). They should stay away from fried foods, sugary snacks, and fatty meals. Exercise is also important. Experts suggest at least 150 minutes of moderate (适度的) exercise per week, like running, cycling or swimming. Getting enough sleep is also important.
How can society help
Schools and medical institutions (医疗机构) are also helping. For example, schools in Shanghai make sure students exercise for at least two hours every day. Hospitals in Shanghai have weight control programs. These programs give experts’ advice on diet, exercise and weight loss. By 2030, China hopes to slow down the increase (增加) of obesity through education and support.
China’s health plan encourages everyone, especially young people, to build good habits. Staying active and eating well today will lead to a stronger, healthier future.
42.Why does the Chinese government introduce this national plan
A. To make people look better.
B. To help people sleep well.

“What do you want in the Emerald City ” he says.
“We want to see the Great Oz.” Dorothy answers.
“It’s important,” the Scarecrow says.
“I am the Keeper of the Gate,” the little man in green says. “I can take you to his Palace. But before you go there, you must put on these glasses.”
He takes five pairs of glasses out of the box. The glass in the glasses is emerald green.
“Why ” Dorothy asks in surprise.
“Everyone in the Emerald City wears them,” the Keeper of the Gate says.
They put on the glasses. Toto has a pair, too. Then the Keeper takes out a big gold key and opens another gate. Dorothy never sees that scene (场景). Everything is green—the houses and the streets. The sky is also green. Children are buying green juice with green money. Men in green clothes are driving green cars along the green streets. Everybody is smiling.
The Keeper of the Gate takes them to a big building in the middle of the city. Oz cannot see them today, so they must stay in the Palace for a few days.

My Grade 7 life is coming to an end. I’m writing to you, the Grade 9 you, to share my growth this year.
This year, I learned to get along well with neighbours and classmates. I often help my elderly neighbour carry heavy bags and share my snacks with classmates who forget to bring theirs. These small acts of kindness make me feel warm and happy inside. I also joined a study group, where we help each other with difficult subjects.
I also took up outdoor activities like cycling and trips. I went cycling with my friends to the countryside every weekend. The fresh air and beautiful landscapes were amazing. It not only built up my body but also made me brave to explore new places.
These experiences made me better. I hope you will keep moving forward.
