I walked into a restaurant and ordered some food. After about 20 minutes, a large group of people came in and placed their orders.
I felt angry because the group got served before me. I watched as they began to eat and laughed loudly. I heard one of them talking about how he knew someone who worked at the restaurant. Unable to stand it anymore, I decided to leave. I asked the waiter to cancel (取消) my order angrily.
He told me nicely. “Yours is a special order. The head chef is preparing it himself. It will take a little more time. Please have a drink while you wait.”

The Sahara is the largest hot desert in the world. It covers over nine million square kilometres across North Africa. The weather there can be very different in a day’s time. During the day, temperatures rise above 40℃, while nights can be very cold.
The Sahara is as big as Canada but has very few people. Less than two and a half million people live there and most of them are nomads. Nomads are people who have no permanent (固定的) homes. They move from place to place, carrying everything they need to live. The nomads of the Sahara are called Bedouin, which means “desert people”. They depend on goats (山羊), sheep, and camels (骆驼) for food and transport. Water is the most important for them. They need water to live, so they must carry enough water or know where to find it. Without water, life is impossible.
A desert is not defined (定义) by sand but by the lack of rain. To be a desert, a place must get less than 250 mm of rain each year. Surprisingly, only 25% of the Sahara is covered in sand. The rest is rock and gravel (沙砾).

If you travel by plane in Thailand, you might see some artistic pictures showing lovely cartoon cats from the air. The photo on the right is one of them. In the photo, you can see a cute sleeping cat with a fish.

Tanyapong said, “To make the art, we used a great number of different kinds of seedlings (秧苗) with leaves of different colours. Then we planted them in the right places using GPS coordinates (坐标). Over time, the seedlings grew and the pictures appeared.”
Tanyapong hopes that the art can help attract more tourists and cat lovers to visit the place. “We are expecting tens of thousands to come and see the art in the rice fields,” said Tanyapong.

How to Make a Habit of Reading
Reading brings us knowledge and fun, but many people find it hard to keep reading every day. Here are my ways to build a reading habit.
First, choose books that interest you. You will lose interest quickly if the book is too boring. Second, spend some time reading every day, such as 20 minutes before bedtime. Third, reward yourself after finishing a whole book, like watching a short movie. Besides, you can read with your classmates and share ideas together.
Small efforts every day will make reading become your lifelong habit.
