In 1640, a man was ill. He had to end the last trip of his life. Back home, people asked him, “You spent your whole life on the road. Do you regret (懊悔) it ”
“I walked through many wonderful places in China,” he answered. “People say I’m as great as Zhang Qian and Xuanzang. So I don’t regret it at all.” This man was Xu Xiake, the greatest traveller in Chinese history.

In December, Lona from the UK was on a special list. Every year, Cycling UK makes a “100 Women in Cycling” list. Those women and girls encourage others to try cycling.
Lona was the youngest person on the 2024 list. Now she is 11 years old. Last week, The Week Junior spoke to Lona and her dad. Lona said her father started her love of bike trips. Two years ago, she did her first big cycle tour with her dad. It was a biking trip over a few days. One of Lona’s favourite things about cycling is “seeing different things around her”.
