Have you ever wondered why AI can beat humans at chess but still can’t understand a simple joke Scientists are studying the human brain to find the answer.
The brain is the most powerful “computer” we know. It can do many things that AI still cannot. For example, when you look at a rainbow, you see seven colors. But in fact, the rainbow has no “colors” at all — it is just light waves of different lengths. Your brain divides these waves into seven groups and gives each group a name. Scientists call this ability “categorizing”.
This ability may seem easy for us, but it is very hard for AI. When an AI sees a rainbow, it only sees a long list of numbers. It doesn’t know how to put them into “colors” the way our brain does. That is why AI still needs a lot of help from humans.
In 2026, Chinese scientists published a new book called Secrets of the Brain. It explains how our brain works in a simple and fun way. The book hopes to help young people understand that our brain is truly amazing — and there is still so much we don’t know about it.
So next time you see a rainbow or tell a joke, remember: your brain is doing something that no AI can do, at least for now.
49. How does the writer start the passage
A.By asking a question. B.By giving an example.
C.By telling a story. D.By showing a number.
50. What does the underlined word “categorizing” in Paragraph 2 mean

C.How to divide light waves into groups. D.How to build a more powerful computer.

Guyu, the 6th solar term in the Chinese lunar year, comes between April 19 and 21 every year. Its name means “grain rain”, because the soft spring rain is quite helpful for the growth of crops. As the weather turns warmer and warmer, the rain makes the whole countryside green and lively, which plays a key role in the coming farming season.
For thousands of years, Chinese farmers believe Guyu is the best time for planting. They often move young rice seedlings to the wet fields, singing folk songs to welcome the warm spring rain. People used to say, “Spring rain is as precious as oil.” Farmers believe the rain is a wonderful gift from nature for a good harvest. Without enough rain, the young crops would easily dry up in the sun. Near the sea, fishermen also keep their special Guyu traditions, praying for a good catch before they start their sailing.
When the rain stops, many families will walk to the green mountains to pick fresh tea leaves. Guyu tea is famous for its special taste, and people believe it can help cool the body on warm spring days. Some cheerful children run after butterflies among the tea plants, with their small baskets full of fresh green leaves.
Besides, Guyu is also the great time for peonies to bloom. Known as “the queen of flowers”, peonies turn the hillsides into pink, red and white. Local people always say, “Three days after Guyu, come to enjoy the peonies!” As spring is going to end and summer is coming near, Guyu makes us realize the importance of being thankful to nature. Every drop of rain and every blooming flower holds the hope of new life.
52. Why is Guyu an important solar term for farmers

C.Because farmers can pick tea leaves at this time.

Holly had been living in the oak tree for three days. The nights grew colder, and her fingers were numb. But she refused to give in. Below her, she could hear her parents arguing inside the house.
“We can’t just leave her up there, John. It’s not safe,” her mother said.
“She’s being unreasonable!” her father shouted back. “I’ve had this plan for months. Why should a tree change everything ”
“Because she loves it,” her mother replied softly.
Holly pulled her blanket tighter. She wasn’t trying to be difficult. She just knew that some things were worth fighting for. This tree had stood here long before her father’s plans. It would still be here long after.
The next morning, her friends Grace and Tom arrived with food. They climbed up to join her.
“Your dad looks really angry,” Tom said.
“I know,” Holly sighed. “But I can’t give up. If this tree goes, everything changes. The birds will lose their home. The shade will disappear. The air won’t be as clean.”
Grace looked at her carefully. “Do you really think staying up here will make a difference ”
“I don’t know,” Holly admitted. “But I have to try. Sometimes you have to do something even when you’re not sure it will work.”
Just then, her father walked into the garden. He stood at the bottom of the tree, looking up. For a long moment, nobody spoke.
Then he said, quietly, “I never realized how big this tree really is.”
Holly’s heart beat faster. “Dad…”
