"Making a podcast is a process of overcoming a sense of shame for me," Chen said. "I have accepted my voice and can appreciate it now."

A 22-minute brisk walk, jog or cycle every day is enough to offset (抵消) the negative health effects of too much sitting down, research showed.
Experts found that people who sit for long periods — such as working in an office or watching TV — are more likely to die earlier, but moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) eliminates this risk. The study backs up the UK chief medical officers' recommendation that people aim for 150 minutes of MVPA per week-roughly 21 minutes per day.
Examples of moderate activity include very brisk walking (4 mph or faster),heavy cleaning such as washing windows or mopping, cycling at 10-12 mph,or badminton.Vigorous activities include hiking, jogging at 6 mph or faster, fast cycling, football, basketball or tennis.
UK guidelines say: "For good physical and mental health, adults should aim to be physically active every day.Any activity is better than none, and more is better still."
In the new study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, experts examined data for 11,989 people over 50,with a 50/50 split between male and female, from Norway,Sweden and the US.People in the study wore activity trackers that measured their MVPA.In all,5,943 people spent fewer than 10.5 hours sitting down every day, while 6,042 spent 10.5 or more hours being sedentary(久坐的).Over a five-year follow-up,6.7%(805)of the people died. The research showed MVPA for 22 minutes each day offset the negative effects of being sedentary and removed the risk of dying early due to sitting for a long time.
Author Edvard Sagely, from the Arctic University of Norway, said: "In our study,we found that only those people doing more than 12 hours per day sitting had a higher risk of death. We are talking about any sitting behavior—such as being in the office or watching TV for long periods of time."
8.What does the underlined word "eliminates" in Paragraph 2 probably mean?______

Nowadays, various kinds of AI-powered companions for kids have entered the market.Even Disney is part of this now, putting its famous characters into new AI technology.
Whether they're just voices,on-screen characters,or cute stuffed toys, these products are totally different from any toys before:they talk, listen and respond in a very human-like way.On the surface, these companions seem kind, sweet and educational, providing both fun and learning for kids.
A toy company website says its toys are "designed to cut back on screen time and improve interaction." Indeed, science tells us warm and responsive back-and-forth interactions are directly tied to children's language development, thinking ability,self-control and more.Up to this point, only humans provided such interactions.
Now,AI systems are made to copy these interactions. But today's parents are at the risk of welcoming a would-be gift without understanding the danger that lies inside. After all,we don't really know how these toys' algorithms (算法) work or their long-term influence on children's developing minds. In fact, warning signs are everywhere.Reports have shown many disturbing conversations with kids' AI toys, such as a toy suggesting where knives could be found. As adults form strong emotional bonds with their AI companions and teens turn to them for mental health support,we must consider what this technology might mean for young children.
Parents cannot afford to wait and see.Conclusive research takes years, but children's developing brains don't have that time.Early relationships form the very structure of a child's development. The emotionally rich human interactions serve as the important guide for children's brain development, which AI systems are made to copy.
Early evidence suggests AI can be believable.Babies as young as six months respond to robots similarly to how they respond to people. This shows a reality:AI carries great educational and healing potential.I believe well-designed AI can support human connection, but I warn against technology designed purely for fun that risks taking the place of human interaction.
12.What is special about the new AI-powered toys?______
A. They look like famous Disney characters.
B. They can interact with kids in a human-like way.
C. They help children cut back on playing outdoors.
D. They are designed to improve children's thinking.
13.Why does the author mention "knives" in paragraph 4?______
A. To show hidden risks that lie inside AI toys.
B. To argue AI technology is not ready for teens.
C. To prove AI toys harm children's physical safety.
D. To show parents should not buy AI toys as gifts.
14.Who is the passage mainly intended for?______
A. Companies B. Kids C. Parents D. Engineers
15.Which would be the best title for this passage?______
A. The Risk of AI Replacing Human B. The Value of Human Interaction
C. The Popularity of AI-driven Toys D. The Danger of AI-powered Toys

Our school has launched a "Book Drifting Corner" to encourage everyone to share books. The purpose is to make good use of our books, reduce waste, and build a campus where knowledge flows freely.
This activity carries great meaning in two ways.On one hand, sharing books allows us to pass on knowledge and joy.A book left untouched on the shelf is a wasted treasure, but once shared,it gains new life and reaches more eager minds. On the other hand, reading itself opens doors to different worlds, enriches our minds, and offers peace in our busy school years.
So let's take action!Bring your gently used books to the corner and let's pass on the joy of reading.
