Hello, everyone! Today I will tell you about a special traditional celebration in Scotland. It's the New Year's Eve celebration called Hogmanay, which is one of the biggest celebrations of the year there.
When midnight comes and the new year starts, people first open the front door of their house. This is to let the old year out and welcome the new year in.
Then, people will go to visit their close neighbors. Everyone brings something with them when they visit, and different things stand for different wishes. For example, people bring a piece of shortbread bread for good food in the new year, and they bring a bottle of whisky for good cheer.
The most special gift people bring is a block of dark coal. As the tradition says, the coal will bring good luck and warmth to the family in the new year. Many young people still keep this lovely tradition today.

The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival for Chinese people, and people always start to prepare a few days before the lunar new year comes.
First of all, people will clean every corner of their house. They sweep out all the dust and dirt. As the old tradition says, this activity helps sweep away all the bad luck from the past year.
Next, people will put up red couplets on the two sides of the front door, and hang red lanterns in the yard. Red is the luckiest color for Chinese people, and it can bring good wishes to the whole family.
