As a young girl growing up in France, Sarah Toumi dreamed of becoming a leader who could make the world
a better place. Her passion to help others was awakened when, from the age of nine, she accompanied her Tunisian
father to his birthplace in the east of the country during holidays. There she organized homework clubs and
activities for children.
Toumi witnessed first-hand the destructive effect of desertification (沙漠化). “Within 10 years rich farmers
became worse off, and in 10 years from now they will be poor. I wanted to stop the Sahara Desert in its tracks.” A
decrease in average rainfall and an increase in the severity of droughts have led to an estimated 75 percent of
Tunisia’s agricultural lands being threatened by desertification.
Toumi recognized that farming practices needed to change. She is confident that small land areas can bring
large returns if farmers are able to adapt by planting sustainable (可持续的) crops, using new technologies for
water treatment and focusing on natural products and fertilizers (肥料) rather than chemicals.
In 2012, Toumi continued her dream to fight the desert. She moved to Tunisia, and set up a programme named
Acacias for All to put her sustainable farming philosophy into action. “I want to show young people in rural areas
that they can create opportunities where they are. Nobody is better able to understand the impact of desertification
and climate change than somebody who is living with no access to water.”
By September 2016, more than 130, 000 acacia trees had been planted on 20 pilot farms, with farmers
recording a 60 percent survival rate. Toumi estimates that some 3 million acacia trees are needed to protect
Tunisia’s farmland. She expects to plant 1 million trees by 2028. In the next couple of years, Toumi hopes to
extend the programme to Algeria and Morocco.
24. How did Toumi’s holiday trips to Tunisia influence her
A. They made her decide to leave the country.
B. They helped her better understand her father.
C. They fired her enthusiasm for helping others.
D. They destroyed her dream of being a teacher.
25. What is the main cause of the desertification of Tunisia’s farmland
A. Low rainfall. B. Soil pollution. C. Cold weather. D. Forest damage.
26. Why did Toumi set up Acacias for All in Tunisia
A. To create job opportunities for young people.
B. To promote the protection of their farmland.
C. To persuade the farmers not to use fertilizers.
D. To help the children obtain a basic education.
27. Which of the following can best describe Sarah
A. Strict and intelligent. B. Humble but inexperienced.
C. Ambitious but self-doubting. D. Responsible and determined.
C
Urbanization in Canada is rapidly consuming wildlife habitats. This development not only destroys habitats
but also fragments (分裂) them, creating isolated patches that disturb migration and threaten animal populations.
Wildlife scientists are studying how animals adapt to these changes, with some species showing remarkable
adaptation while others struggle.
The key impacts of urbanization on wildlife, according to John Wilmshurst from the Canadian Wildlife
Federation (CWF), include habitat loss, fragmentation, movement barriers like roads and fences, and increased
human-wildlife conflicts. Despite these challenges, urban areas offer abundant food sources for wildlife.
Studies on wildlife urbanization raise questions about whether animal behaviors are changing due to habitat
loss and the impact of climate change on their environments. Wilmshurst points out that it’s difficult to track
species negatively influenced by urbanization, as they often disappear. However, GPS tracking has helped
researchers observe how sensitive animals are to urban infrastructure (基础设施).
Some animals, like wolves, avoid people and built-up areas, changing their behaviors to keep clear of urban
environments. Others, like bobcats, adapt well to urban life, with some species even passing on these behaviors to
their young. Birds have been known to change their song pitches (音高) to adapt to urban soundscapes.
Understanding impact of habitat fragmentation is complex, but Wilmshurst suggests that well-placed
landscape management can reduce some negative impacts. This includes changing fences and creating wildlife
passages on roads to support animal conservation.
People are also adapting to the presence of wildlife in cities, planting pollinator (授粉昆虫) gardens and
diversifying their yards with native plants. Changes in bylaws (地方细则) and building codes, such as keeping cats
indoors and reducing bird strikes with glass windows, reflect a growing effort to maintain a connection with nature
in urban environments.
The CWF believes that maintaining this connection is crucial for our increasingly urban population. Public
policies that help people safely coexist with wildlife in their neighborhoods can improve urban life and support
conservation efforts, showing that both humans and wildlife can adapt to the challenges of urbanization.
28. What is the main threat of urbanization to wildlife according to Paragraph 1
A. Habitat destruction and fragmentation. B. Food shortage and climate change.
C. Frequent human-wildlife conflicts. D. Rapid extinction of those rare species.
29. Which of the following shows successful animal adaptation to cities
A. Birds stop their singing in noisy urban areas
B. Most species decrease their population size.
C. Wolves stay far away from human activities.
D. Bobcats adjust well and pass features to babies.
30. What can we infer from the last two paragraphs
A. Keeping cats indoors has little effect on bird protection.
B. New laws have completely solved human-wildlife conflicts.
C. Human-wildlife coexistence is achievable in urban areas.
D. People prefer some buildings without glass windows.
31. Which of the following is the best title for the passage
A. Wildlife Protection in Canadian Cities B. Wildlife and Human Adaptation to Urbanization
C. Wildlife Reactions to Urban Environment D. Negative Effects of Urbanization on Habitats

Social media has become an important part of teenagers’ lives. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and WeChat
allow teens to connect with others, share moments from daily life, and express themselves. While social media
offers entertainment and a sense of belonging, it also creates hidden danger to teens’ mental health, a growing
concern among psychologists worldwide.
One significant issue is the pressure to create a perfect online image. A 2024 study by the Chinese Academy
of Adolescent Health (CAAH) found that over 68% of teens post edited or filtered photos, showcasing only the
glamorous aspects of their lives, such as fancy meals or exciting trips. This creates unrealistic expectations,
causing anxiety when teens’ real lives don’t match the idealized version they present online. The strong desire for
likes can further harm self-esteem; when posts receive little engagement, teens may feel unimportant or invisible,
worsening their anxiety.
Fear of missing out (FOMO) is also common. When teens see their friends attending events or going on trips
they weren’t invited to, it can lead to feelings of loneliness and exclusion. This can cause anxiety and harm real-life
relationships, as teens may feel disconnected from their social groups.
Finally, cyberbully is a significant concern. Social media’s anonymity (匿名) allows people to post hurtful
comments they wouldn’t say face-to-face, sometimes leading to serious results, such as depression or a mental
health crisis.
To reduce these risks, experts recommend setting screen-time limits, encouraging open discussions about
social media use, and helping teens focus on building self-acceptance. Educators stress the importance of teaching
teens to identify online approval from their true self-worth.
32. What does the underlined word “glamorous” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Touching. B. Attractive. C. Imperfect. D. Unrealistic.
33. What can we infer about teens from paragraph 2
A. They use social media mainly to record real life.
B. They feel less anxious when receiving many likes.
C. They believe their polished online image reflects reality.
D. They increasingly relate their self-worth to online approval.
34. How does FOMO affect teens’ real-life relationships
A. It makes teens feel left out.
B. It reduces teens’ offline social desire.
C. It causes teens more social anxiety.
D. It leads teens to distrust offline friends.
35. What do experts recommend to reduce the risks of social media for teens
A. Developing teens’ inner strength and critical thinking.
B. Stopping teens from using social media.
C. Increasing parental monitoring of online activities.
D. Pursuing more online likes and approval.

Share your gratitude with others. Even people who said thank-you to a stranger reported a strong feeling of
happiness. 39 Call a parent, write a thank-you note to an old teacher, give a friend a thank-you gift or
simply thank the cashier at the grocery store.
Challenge yourself to be grateful in difficult circumstances (境 况 ). There is no situation, no matter how
difficult, in which you can’t find something to be grateful for — and practicing gratitude can go a long way toward
improving the way you deal with hard things. Look back through old journals of hard times and make notes about
what helped you get through them and what you were grateful for. 40

第二节(共 10 小题;每小题 1.5 分,满分 15 分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入 1 个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Along the coast of Quanzhou, Fujian Province, lies a small fishing village 56 women wear flowers like
they wear jewelry. This is Xunpu, home to a unique tradition 57 (refer) to as Zanhuawei — the art of
wearing flower wreaths (花环) as headdresses.
The tradition, 58 (date) back to the Tang Dynasty, 59 (believe) to have been influenced by Arab
traders who brought exotic flowers along the Maritime Silk Road. For local women, these flowers are more than
just 60 (decorate). They represent identity, status, and a deep connection to the sea. As an old saying goes
— “Even if you have to sell your hair, you must still wear flowers.”
Every morning, Xunpu women begin their day by creating delicate flower designs. They skillfully make
various fresh seasonal flowers 61 colorful wreaths, arranging them tightly around their hair buns. The
brighter the flowers, the 62 (happy) the occasion — red for celebrations, yellow for blessings, and white
only for mourning.
What makes this practice 63 (true) remarkable is that it has survived modernization. While educated in
cities, young Xunpu girls return home 64 (learn) this ancestral art from their mothers and grandmothers. In
2008, Zanhuawei was added to 65 national intangible cultural heritage list, ensuring that this “garden on the

Emily and Zoe had been best friends since second grade. They went to the same school, played on the same
soccer team, and even wore matching bracelets (手链). Everyone around them said they were like two sides of the
same coin. They believed nothing could come between them. But things started to change when a new girl Daisy
came to their class.
One day, their teacher, Mr. Lynn, announced a big group project. “Pick a partner,” he said. Emily immediately
turned to Zoe, expecting her usual smile and a quick “yes.” But to her surprise, Zoe was already talking to Daisy.
“I’m going to work with Daisy this time,” Zoe said to Emily, almost too casually. Emily felt like the air had been
knocked out of her. She nodded and forced a smile, but inside, she was confused and hurt. That night, she stared at
her phone screen, hoping for a message that never came.
Over the next few days, she avoided Zoe. Their texts stopped, they no longer sat together during lunch, and
the bracelets they once wore daily were now left at home. Even during class, Emily found it hard to focus, her mind
replaying the moment when Zoe chose someone else.
Weeks passed. The school organized a three-day camping trip in the mountains. Students were divided into
several groups. Emily and Zoe ended up in the same one, along with Daisy and two other classmates. Though they
barely spoke, they worked together to put up tents and gather firewood. Their conversations were limited to short,
polite exchanges — nothing like before.
On the second night, dark clouds rolled in and heavy rain soon followed. Everyone rushed into their own tents.
Emily quickly discovered that hers was leaking. Cold and upset, she went outside, seeking for help. The wind
howled around her, and each raindrop felt like a tiny needle against her skin.
注意:1.续写词数应为 150 左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Just then, she saw a flashlight approaching.
With Zoe’s help, they soon fixed the tent.

Dear Peter,

festival, families gather to enjoy a feast and chat happily. People also hang red decorations to wish
for good fortune. Besides, children can get lucky money and take part in various festive activities.
It is a perfect chance for you to feel authentic Chinese culture. I believe you will have an

第二节(满分 25 分)
67. Just then, she saw a flashlight approaching. In the dim light, Emily recognized it was nobody
else but Zoe. Her face was filled with concern when she saw Emily struggling in the cold. “I
thought you might need help,” Zoe said softly. Emily’s eyes widened with a mix of surprise and
relief. Without a word, Zoe stepped forward and examined the tent. She explained that she could
fix it with the spare raincoat she had brought. As they worked together, the awkwardness
gradually melted away. Emily realized that Zoe still cared and the rain seemed to have washed
away the misunderstandings between them.
With Zoe’s help, they soon fixed the tent. Back inside the tent, Emily took a deep breath and said,
“I was so hurt when you chose Daisy for the project.” Zoe looked at her apologetically and replied,
“I’m sorry. I just thought it would be better to include the new comer, but I never meant to hurt
you.” That night, they had an open-hearted conversation, clearing up all the confusion. Until then
did they realize that friends need open communication and their bond became even stronger. From
then on, they wore their matching bracelets again, a symbol of their unbreakable friendship

8【原文】M: Anna, I heard you are going to Italy The Winter Olympics are already over. Why are
you going there
W: I’m going there for a vacation with my parents. They love the country.
M: I heard Mark is going there too. What is he going to do there
W: He is going there to take part in a competition.
M: A competition What’s it
W: Have you heard about the RoboCup
M: No, what is it
W: The RoboCup is for people who love creating robots. During the event, teams of robots will
play football in a game.
M: Really That sounds amazing. Is this Mark’s first time taking part
W: No, he started back in 2021. He took part in his first RoboCup that year, and then three times
in a row. But last year, his team didn’t qualify, so they missed it.
M: So this year will make it his fifth time. Will you go and watch it
W: Yes, I’ll go and cheer for Mark’s team.
9【原文】M: Nancy, can I have a word with you about your last essay
W: Of course, Mr. Green. Is there something wrong with it
M: Well, I noticed that your essay seems... a bit too perfect. Did you write it yourself
W: Emm... I used ChatGPT, which produced really good ideas.
M: I understand that AI can be helpful and timesaving, but the purpose of writing an essay is to
express your own ideas and develop critical thinking abilities.
W: I see your point, but isn’t it okay to use AI as a tool I mean, it’s everywhere now.
M: It’s fine to use it for information gathering, brainstorming or grammar checking, but your
work should reflect your own thoughts. Learning is about engaging with the material, not just
copying it. Remember, think critically and write in your own words.
W: Thank you, Mr. Green. I’ll do that.
10【 原 文 】 W: According to a recent report from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the
population of African elephants has shown a significant increase in certain areas over the past
decade. This positive change is largely the result of government’s anti-hunting laws and
community-based efforts. In countries like Kenya and Botswana, governments have taken
stronger measures to protect elephants from illegal hunting. Besides, some countries like Gabon,
Tanzania and Namibia have used advanced technology, such as GPS to monitor elephant
movements in real time. The advanced technology can save time and cut costs. Additionally, local
communities have been actively involved in protecting these animals, as they increasingly
recognize the importance of elephants. Elephants attract thousands of visitors each year,
generating income and jobs for locals, which encourages communities to participate in
conservation programs. However, despite these successes, challenges still remain. Habitat loss
due to human activities continues to threaten elephant populations. Climate change is also
affecting their access to water and food, leading to more frequent human-elephant conflicts as
animals go into villages in search of resources. Conservationists emphasize that while progress
has been made, protecting African elephants is a long-term process.
