1. What's that 那是什么
What's that 是特殊疑问句,询问远处的某个物品;若询问近处的某个物品应用“What's this ”。
“What's this/that ”的答语为“It's a/an+单数可数名词”,不能用“This/That is...”回答。

—It's a pen.它是一支钢笔。
—What's that 那是什么?
—It's a dog.它是一只小狗。

What are these 是特殊疑问句,询问近处的某些物品;若询问远处的某些物品,应用“What are those ”。它们的答语为“They're +复数可数名词.”

①雏鸟;幼兽(此处为名词作定语,修饰chickens)

②婴儿
This baby is sleeping.这个婴儿正在睡觉。
(2)chicken:①【可数名词】鸡
I have two chickens on my farm.我的农场里有两只鸡。
②【不可数名词】鸡肉
I like eating chicken for lunch.我午饭喜欢吃鸡肉。

4. tomato plants 番茄秧
名词作定语:此处名词tomato作定语修饰名词plants。作定语的名词说明中心名词的材料、用途、类别等。作定语的名词一般有三种情况:
①一般用单数形式
These tomato plants grow well.这些西红柿苗长势很好。
②名词man,woman作定语时,要与所修饰的名词的单复数一致
Five women teachers work in our grade.五位女老师在我们年级任教。
③sports,clothes等作定语时,常用复数形式。
I want a pair of sports shoes.我想要一双运动鞋。
That clothes shop sells nice dresses.那家服装店售卖好看的连衣裙。
