Graduation day came. The ceremony was loud. I heard Sarah crying on my left. Owen was laughing the way he always did—big and loud. We had spent six years together at this school. Now we were leaving. But I found it hard to say goodbye to my teachers and friends.
After the event, our teachers led us back to the classroom.
“Everyone, sit down,” Mrs Miller said excitedly.
I heard something being set on the table in front of me. It was a little heavy.
I reached out my hand and touched a smooth surface. Then—a round face,a small nose,a big smile.
My breath caught. “Is this... Sarah ”
“Yes,” the teacher said softly.
I stopped. I touched it again. I had heard that smile so many times. Now I could feel it.
I moved my hand to the right. It was another face with big eyes and a small bump (凸起) above the left eye. That was Owen’s scar (伤疤),earned from a fall out of a tree in the third grade.
“Owen,” I said quietly.
Face after face. All my friends. I learned them with my hands.
Then I reached for the last one. It felt different—older, lines around the eyes,a kind smile.
“Teacher,” I said.
I heard her take a deep breath. “Yes. That’s me.”
I touched her face again—the laugh lines and the kindness written all over her face. This was the woman who had guided me for six years. At last,I knew her face.
Under each face were tiny raised bumps. ‘Sarah Smith,’ the bumps spelled out. Under Owen’s face: ‘Owen Brown.’ This way,we would always remember each other’s names.

Time flies and you will soon graduate from junior high school. It might be a little sad to say goodbye to your teachers and classmates. This same feeling was shared more than 1,000 years ago, when the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei (701—761) had to say goodbye to his friend Yuan Er.
The poem begins with a beautiful morning scene. After the rain, the road is clean and free of dust, and the willows by the hotel are fresh and green. On that day’s morning,Yuan Er is leaving for a place called Anxi (in today’s Xinjiang).
The last two lines are the most well-known. The poet invited Yuan to drink wine because he knew that life in Anxi would be hard. Most cities in China were prosperous* during the Tang Dynasty (618—907),but the Western areas were quite desolate**. Wang thought the journey to the west would be full of hardship. So when Wang says “I invite you to drink a cup of wine again”,he is pouring both his care and good wishes into the cup. This sincere love for his friend made this poem popular back then and it remains popular today.
* The word “prosperous” means “rich and successful”.
**The word “desolate” means “empty and without people”.

A special graduation memory in my heart is our class photo. It was taken on the playground on a sunny afternoon last month.

Everyone was a little sad because graduation was coming, but we tried our best to smile. We hugged warmly and said “good luck” again and again.
This photo means a lot to me. It always reminds me of the warmest and most precious time in my life. I will keep it in my heart forever.
