◇教学过程◇
Step 1 Leading in
Greet the class warmly. Review the personality adjectives learnt in the previous lesson (organized, patient, modest, creative, energetic, curious, active, social) by asking students to give a quick show of fingers for which adjectives best describe them.
Present the pre-reading questions on the screen:
"Do you know people who are happy with their jobs Who are they What are their jobs "
"What do you think makes people happy with their jobs "
Ask students to discuss the questions in pairs. Then invite 2-3 students to share their ideas with the class. Write some key factors (e.g., interest, personality, salary, sense of achievement) on the board.
Introduce the topic: Today we will read about four people in Sunshine Town who are happy with their jobs. Let's find out what they do and what makes them happy.
Step 2 Pre-reading
Show pictures of the four people mentioned in the article (Wu Wei, Su Ming, Liu Hao, Fang Yuan) along with their job titles. Ask students to predict what qualities each person might have based on their jobs.
Introduce key vocabulary that may cause difficulty: sculpture, imagination, sales, engineer, detail, standard, meaningful, tough, worth, sick. Teach pronunciation and give simple example sentences.
Explain the idiom "a miss is as good as a mile" and the figurative expression "his work shouts" to prepare students for comprehension.
Step 3 While-reading
1. Extensive reading — Skimming (用时约5分钟)
Ask students to read the article quickly and answer the following questions:
How many people are introduced in the article What are their jobs
What is the main idea of the article
Invite students to share their answers. Guide them to summarize the main idea: The article introduces four people in Sunshine Town who are happy with their jobs and explains why they are suitable for their jobs.
2. Intensive reading — Scanning (用时约10分钟)
Ask students to read the article carefully paragraph by paragraph. Guide them to underline the key information about each person's job, qualities, and reasons for job satisfaction.

Present the following matching exercise. Ask students to match each person with the corresponding description of their job satisfaction reason.

3. Detailed reading — Paragraph analysis (用时约12分钟)
Paragraph 1 (Wu Wei, artist)
Ask students to read the first paragraph silently and find the sentence that best describes Wu Wei's personality and the sentence that describes his work.
Guide students to understand the contrast: "He's quiet, but his work shouts." Ask: What does "his work shouts" mean (His sculptures are impressive and speak for themselves.)
Ask students to identify Wu Wei's qualities: creative, imaginative, quiet, modest (implied).

Paragraph 2 (Su Ming, sales manager)
Ask students to read the second paragraph and compare Su Ming's two jobs: accountant vs. sales manager.

Identify Su Ming's qualities: active, energetic, sociable.

Identify Liu Hao's qualities: serious, careful, modest, easy to work with.

Identify Fang Yuan's qualities: kind, patient, careful, caring.

Step 4 Post-reading — Complete Part A
Ask students to complete the table in Part A with the information from the article individually. Walk around to offer help.
Check the answers together. Invite students to read out the completed table row by row.

Step 5 Summary and Homework
Summarize the key content of this class:

Each person has different personalities and different reasons for being happy with their job.
We learned key vocabulary and expressions: sculpture, win high praise from, a miss is as good as a mile, pay attention to, be worth it.
Key reading strategies: skimming for main idea, scanning for specific information, and detailed reading for deeper understanding.
Assign homework:
Read the article aloud twice and record yourself reading one paragraph.
