◇教学过程◇
Step 1 Leading in
Greet the class warmly.
Show a quote on the screen: "Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom." Ask students to think about what this quote means. Invite a few students to share their understanding.
Introduce the topic of this unit: We all have different personalities. Our personalities can influence what we are good at and what jobs we may choose in the future.
Step 2 Work on Part A
Present the six pictures and the six adjectives on the screen: organized, patient, modest, creative, energetic, curious. Teach the pronunciation and meaning of each word with simple examples.
Ask students to look at the pictures in Part A and read the sentences. Help Millie complete the sentences with the correct words from the box.
Let students complete the task individually. Walk around the classroom to offer help.
Check the answers together. Invite some students to read out the complete sentences and translate them into Chinese to check comprehension.
Answers:
Suzy is very organized. She keeps all her things in good order.
Mr Wu is patient. He explains the grammar rules to us carefully.
Andy is very clever, but he is modest and never shows off.
Daniel is creative. He often comes up with new ideas.
Simon is very energetic. He always plays football for hours.
Billy is curious about everything. He likes studying different things.
Explain the key phrases: in good order, show off, come up with.
【课堂巩固练习——匹配】(用时约3分钟)
Present a matching exercise on the screen. Ask students to match the personalities in Column A with the corresponding behaviors in Column B.
Column A (Personalities) Column B (Behaviors)
1. patient A. never shows off even when he is clever
2. modest B. keeps all her things tidy and in good order
3. organized C. always asks questions and wants to know everything
4. curious D. explains things again and again without getting angry
Ask students to complete the matching individually, then check answers with their deskmates.
Answers: 1-D, 2-A, 3-B, 4-C
Step 3 Work on Part B
Present the conversation between Millie, Paul, Sandy and David on the screen. Ask students to read it silently and underline the words and phrases that describe personalities and abilities.
Explain the key sentence patterns:
I'm patient and I don't get angry easily.
Neither my parents nor I think I will make a good accountant.
I would be good at creative jobs, I suppose.
Highlight the structure "neither...nor..." and explain that it connects two negative subjects. Give additional examples: Neither Tom nor his sister likes swimming. / Neither the teacher nor the students were in the classroom.
Organize students to work in groups of four. Ask them to talk about their own personalities and possible future jobs, using the conversation as a model. Encourage them to use the adjectives from Part A and the key sentence patterns.
Walk around the classroom to monitor group discussions, offer help with vocabulary, and encourage quieter students to participate.
Invite two or three groups to present their conversations in front of the class. Provide positive feedback and correct any major errors gently.
