I’ve heard about fashion and product designers. But what is a food designer I want to know more about this interesting job. (Sun Ruoxi,16)
I studied design in the UK, and now I’m working in London as a food designer. (Li Leyu, 28)
Sun: What do food designers do
Li: For us food designers, food is not only something for people to eat. It is also a special way of telling warm and meaningful stories to the public. Sometimes we make creative art installations (艺术装置)with all kinds of fresh food materials. Besides this, we may also design unique dining experiences for customers and even take charge of building and managing local food brands.
Sun: What are the differences between a food designer and a cook
Li: Cooks mainly focus on the taste of food. They care about making food delicious. Food designers may also cook, but they think more about the ideas and experiences around food. So, cooks and food designers often work together.
Sun: What food design projects have you worked on
Li: People often say home is where their roots are, so I used many kinds of root vegetables, like carrots and lotus roots. We cooked them in different ways and shaped them like a sculpture. Visitors could both look at and taste the design! I also worked on a project about lab-grown meat to encourage more people to discuss this new, eco-friendly food.
Sun: What skills should food designers have
Li: In my opinion, food designers need to own many necessary skills. First, they must learn different useful subjects, such as basic science and food anthropology. Besides knowledge learning, they also need to be good at working with others in a team. What’s more, they should be careful and patient when enjoying meals in daily life, so that they can watch small details and get creative inspiration (灵感) for their work.

Did you enjoy playing in the dirt when you were a kid Pamela Conrad did. Growing up on a farm, she loved making little gardens for baby animals. Today, she still does the same thing-but on a much larger scale. She works as a landscape architect.
So,what does a landscape architect do Think of it this way: A regular architect designs the building you live in; a landscape architect designs everything outside of it. They plan outdoor spaces like parks, plazas and schoolyards. It’s not just about planting flowers. It’s about carefully planning every detail, like where to put paths for walking and where to grow trees for shade.
Pamela loved nature when she was little. But she didn’t know this could be a job until she was 12 years old. One day, a neighbor showed her a copy of Landscape Architecture magazine. The neighbor said,”You can go to college for this. “ And that changed her life.
Now, Pamela has a big goal. She wants to use her designs to fight climate change and protect the environment. Her aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of her projects. For example, she designs parks with many trees in specific spots. These trees absorb carbon dioxide(二氧化碳)from the air. She also redesigns waterfronts to stop floods caused by rising sea levels. “I feel lucky that I can help save the world,” Pamela says.
If you want to follow in her footsteps, you can start small. Pamela suggests taking classes in biology and art. You can even try planting in your neighborhood to help bees and birds. As Pamela proves, love for nature can turn into a career that saves the world.
注:每题答案不超过6个词。

6.Does a landscape architect design things inside or outside the building
