We all need to eat to live. But food is more than just something that stops our hunger. What, where, when, how, and with whom we eat say a great deal about who we are. At the same time, what we do not eat also says something about us.
Eating habits send messages. Do you use chopsticks or a fork Do you eat everything on your plate Do you avoid some foods like pork These habits send messages about who you are.
Most people think their own eating habits are normal. They might think others who eat differently are a little strange. But eating habits are not just personal choices. People often learn them from their family and culture from a very young age.
The foods we loved as children often stay special to us. They remind us of home and family. Maybe it is the special noodles Mom made, or the delicious cookies Dad baked (烘烤). These foods don’t just taste good; they carry the great moments we share with our loved ones.
※ We eat special foods on holidays, at birthdays, or at weddings (婚礼). These foods help show a change or celebrate a shared experience. They connect us to our family, culture, and history.
So, the next time you sit down for a meal, remember: you are not just eating. You are also sharing a part of your own story.

That Made a Difference to Me
Last term I argued with my mom because she didn’t allow me to join the volunteer club. I thought she didn’t understand me and locked myself in my room sadly. Later my mom talked with me patiently. She said she just worried my study would fall behind. I promised I would balance study and volunteer work. Then she agreed.
This experience taught me communication is the key to solving problems. Since then, I will talk calmly instead of getting angry when disagreements happen. It really changed me a lot.
