We asked you, our readers, “What would make your life better ” Here are some of your answers. Jessie
A clone (克隆人). If I had a clone of myself, I would have so much more time. I’d send my clone to do all the things I don’t like doing. He would take all my exams and he would wait in all those long boring queues for me. That would leave me more time to do the things I really want to do. Oliver
I wish I had a super-quick travel machine. You know what I mean, a machine that could send me anywhere in the world in seconds. So, imagine you’re in one place. You enter some coordinates (坐标) into the machine and two seconds later you’re there. For example, you could visit the Amazon in the morning and spend the afternoon at the South Pole. If there was a machine like that, I’d visit the whole world. Matthew
The thing that I would like most is a huge lab under my house. Down there I’d do lots of research and experiments. Then I would invent lots of different things that would make people’s lives better. Aimee

A.play with him all day
B.finish his boring daily work

B.To encourage readers to become inventors (发明家).

Think about walking in a quiet place in Australia. Suddenly, you hear a strange “Oom” sound. This sound may come from a bird in great danger—the plains-wanderer (领鹑)! Scientists in Australia use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to find and protect these birds.
These birds are very tiny, only about 15 cm tall. They are also very careful about their home. They live in places with grass, but the grass can’t be too much or too little. For this reason, scientists call them the “Goldilocks of animals” because they need a place that is just right.
Long ago, many of these birds lived in the east of Australia. Now, there are only 250 to 1,000. They are not good at flying. When they are afraid, they don’t fly away, but they hide or run. “There is no bird like it in the world,” says a scientist.
To protect these birds, scientists first need to know where they are. They know the mother birds make the “Oom” sound. They try to catch these sounds. However, it is difficult for humans to recognize all of them, so the team uses AI to help.
The AI finds the bird’s sound in two places. One scientist says it feels like “finding gold”. It is the first time in over 30 years that people have found these birds in the west of Melbourne!

The word “zhiyin” in Chinese comes from a famous story during the Spring and Autumn Period. Yu Boya was good at playing the guqin. Though many people liked his skills, Boya felt lonely because he believed no one could really understand the feelings in his music.
One night, while traveling to Chu, Boya had to stop his boat at the Hanyang River because of strong wind. After the wind passed, a full moon rose slowly. Touched by the beautiful night, Boya began playing his guqin. A woodcutter named Zhong Ziqi, who was passing by, stopped to listen. Boya played a piece about high mountains, and Ziqi said, “How great! It sounds like Mount Tai reaching the sky!” Then Boya played another piece about flowing water, and Ziqi said, “How nice! It sounds like a great river running forever!” Boya was deeply moved because Ziqi understood his music so well. They talked all night and became close friends. Before leaving, they promised to meet again the next year.
Unluckily, when Boya returned, he heard that Ziqi had died from an illness. Heartbroken, Boya went to Ziqi’s tomb (坟墓), played one last song full of sadness, and then broke his guqin into pieces. He decided never to play again, saying, “Because my only ‘zhiyin’ is gone, I won’t play for anyone else!”
To remember this deep friendship, people in the Song Dynasty built Guqin Tai in Hanyang. Today, it is not only a historical site but also an important part of local culture, reminding us of the value of true understanding between friends.
12. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about

In 2050, the future classroom will not only be a cool place with new technology, but also a place where students can learn and make good friends. The smart walls will not just be touch screens. They will make lessons fun and let everyone share the fun together. When students learn history, the walls will show 3D pictures of the Great Wall or the Pyramids (金字塔). Students won’t just watch history—they will talk about it, ask questions, and even work in small groups to write short stories about the old times.
Heavy textbooks will disappear (消失). Instead, students will use light tablets (平板电脑). These tablets can do more than just show words. They will check how well each student learns. If grammar is hard for you, the tablet will suggest short videos to help you practice. If you like biology, it will let you join online talks with scientists from all over the world. The best part is that robot helpers won’t replace teachers’ jobs—they will just help teachers. They will help teachers do the boring and repeated (重复的) work. So teachers will have more time to ____________, listen to their ideas and help them make their dreams come true.
The future classroom will teach us an important lesson: Technology is a tool, not a goal. What makes learning meaningful is not the 3D pictures or smart tablets—it’s the way we use them to learn together, grow together, and become better thinkers and friends. Technology opens doors, but our interest and kindness keep them open.
