Did you hear of “conscious (清醒的) spending” According to Ramit Sethi, conscious spending is all about spending as much as possible on the things you love and cutting costs as much as possible on the things you don’t need. It’s about knowing what you really want and then spending your money on the things you love.
The term “conscious spending” suggests that people experience unconscious spending nowadays. It’s almost like unconscious eating. When we spend our money,we’re just without a plan. And we’re not really paying much attention, especially when using credit cards.
The most important way to deal with unconscious spending is asking yourself some questions.Where did my money go What do I love spending money on and why How much do I need for the things I must have, such as food and bills How much do I want to save and why How much do I want to set aside for unimportant buys, such as coffee with a friend or a movie ticket
Answering these questions can help you feel excited and clear about your money, know what you care less about, and live according to what’s important to you.“Then,it’s a lot easier to cut down on your spending in areas that you don’t need so much,” Klontz said.
Your answers to these questions agree with what Sethi calls your “rich life” — the life of your own, free from what anyone else thinks you should do.When you think about what you really want, you will no longer have to feel anxious or doubtful about how you spend your money.
( ) 8.What is conscious spending
A.It means cutting the cost of the things you like.
B.It means buying a lot of things you really like.
C.It means spending money as much as possible.
D.It means spending money properly on the things you truly love.
( ) 9.Why does the writer mention “unconscious eating” in Paragraph 2
A.To explain how people spend money without thinking.
B.To show that eating without a plan is healthy.
C.To compare two different ways of saving money.
D.To suggest that people shouldn’t eat without a plan.
( ) 10.The writer develops his idea in Paragraph 3 by .
A.listing numbers B.raising questions
C.explaining differences D.giving examples
( ) 11.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs
A.People will feel excited after buying what they really want.
B.People are easily influenced (被影响) by others.
C.Spending money can make people feel anxious and doubtful.
D.Conscious spending can make people know how to spend their money.
D
Let’s imagine this: Your parents are going out of town for a week. You’re left with 800 yuan. How will you spend it It would be silly to spend the money at the mall, especially if you already have great clothes in your room, right A better way to spend that money would be on key things such as food and transportation. You’d probably also want to put part of the money aside for something else.
Well, you just learned how to budget. It’s all about deciding what matters the most to you and how much you want to spend on these things.
Working out your priorities (优先事项) is the most important part of budgeting. For example,if you plan on buying a new smartphone and a cool smartwatch, you should consider saving some money. The next time your friends invite you to go to KTV with them, you might as well decide to pass.
But having a budget doesn’t mean you can’t have fun; you just have to get creative.Instead of meeting your friends at the pizza shop and then going to the movies, you could invite them over to your house. You can buy some frozen pizzas at the supermarket and watch a movie online. It’s a lot cheaper but just as fun.
If you search for budgeting tips, you’ll find many.As a young person, you have plenty of chances to experiment with different ways.Once you find a way that works for you,it’s easier to get excited about budgeting.
Keep in mind that even adults make mistakes at times. If you go over your budget, just try to learn from your mistakes.
( ) 12.Why does the writer suggest spending the money on food and transportation
A.Because they are basic needs.
B.Because they help avoid trouble.
C.Because they cost less money.
D.Because the money is not enough.
( ) 13.What point is the writer trying to make in the last paragraph
A.Making good budgets is a challenge forever.
B.Don’t make any mistakes to go over your budget.
C.Even adults should learn from the mistakes they make.
D.The young shouldn’t be afraid to make mistakes with a budget.
( ) 14.What can we infer about the writer’s opinion on budgeting
A.It can be easier for adults.
B.It can be difficult but helpful.
C.It can stop people having fun.
D.It can help to save more money.
( ) 15.What is the purpose of the passage
A.To share tips on how to make more money.
B.To tell readers the importance of saving money.
C.To help teenagers learn to spend money wisely.
