Step 1 Lead in Show pictures of people communicating(talking face to face, having a conversation with a stranger, smiling and listening)and ask:
"What do you talk about when you meet someone for the first time

2. Write key ideas on the blackboard (conversation, listen, topic, sincere). Share personal experiences about communicating with others, discuss with partners using simple words (e.g., "I talk about hobbies, but sometimes I'm nervous.").
Step 2 Pre-reading 1.Introduce the text: "It's about how to make better conversations, including useful skills and tips. Let's explore the secrets of good communication." 2.Ask prediction questions: "What might the text say about good listening What advice might it give for choosing topics " Predict text content based on pictures and prior knowledge, share ideas in pairs.
Step 3 While-reading Skimming: Ask students to read the text quickly and answer: "Who is the text written for " (People who find it hard to have conversations). Scanning: Guide students to complete the table in 1c with information from the text (tips and examples). Explain difficult words: "sincere" (真诚的)、"body language" (肢体语言)、"pretend" (假装)。 Skim to understand the main idea and target readers of the text. Scan for specific information, complete the table in 1c, and discuss in groups. Note down difficult words and ask for explanations.
Step 4 Post-reading 1. Guide students to do 1d: "Find out what the pronouns in bold refer to" and discuss the reasons. 2. Organize group discussion on 1e: "Discuss the questions about good communication". 3. Ask: "How can you use these tips to improve your own conversations " Finish 1d by identifying pronoun references and explaining the reasons. Discuss the questions in 1e in groups, sharing personal opinions on good communication. Link text advice to personal experiences, explaining how to apply them to future conversations.
Step 5 Language Consolidation Highlight words and phrases related to communication in the text (sincere, body language, listen carefully, choose topics) and practice with sentences: "To make a better conversation, we need to ____." Match communication tips with examples (e.g., "be honest" → "say 'I don't know' if you don't understand"). List and practice key vocabulary and phrases from the plete matching exercise to connect communication tips with specific examples.
Step 6 Summary&Practice Lead students to review the key information about communication skills (tips, examples, importance). Assign a short task: "Write 3 personal tips for better conversations using advice from the text". Retell the key information about communication skills, emphasizing effective methods. Write personal tips with practical strategies based on text advice.
家庭作业 Write a short paragraph about one time you had a good conversation and explain why it went well (using tips from the text).(must do) Create a mind map about "My Communication Tips" including types of skills, examples, and when to use them.(must do) Interview a friend about their best communication experience and report back to the class.(can do)
