Do you know how to show love to your parents Many teenagers think their parents just don’t understand them. But my mother always says, “Communication is the bridge between hearts.” Last year, I had a fight with my mother because she didn’t allow me to have a smartphone. I was angry and didn’t talk to her for several days.
One evening, my mother sat beside me and said softly, “I know you’re upset. But I’m not trying to control you. I’m just worried that a smartphone might take up too much of your study time. Can we talk about it ” I was surprised by her gentle words. I told her that all my friends had smartphones and I felt left out (被冷落). After a long talk, we reached an agreement: I could have a phone, but I had to set time limits for games and social media.

On a cold winter morning, a young man was walking along the beach. After a heavy storm, the beach was covered with thousands of starfish (海星). Some people threw them onto the shore and they couldn’t get back to the sea. Without water, they would soon die.
The young man noticed an old man bending down (弯腰) again and again. Each time, the old man picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea. A Volunteer Activity Made Me Grow
Last month, I took part in a volunteer activity at the old people’s home. I chatted with the elders and helped clean their rooms. At first, I was shy and didn’t know what to say.
After several hours’ staying there, I opened my heart to them. I listened to their old stories and shared my school life with them. I used to be selfish and only cared about myself, but now I learn to care for others.
This activity teaches me that love and care can warm everyone. I will keep taking volunteer work and pass kindness to more people.
