阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
AI and Energy: Is AI Increasing Power Demand
AI consumes large amounts of energy: a single ChatGPT response uses around 10 times the electricity of a Google search, and its more than 400 million weekly active users increase demand. DeepSeek claimed higher energy efficiency but also faced doubts, keeping AI’s energy use a persistent concern. Here is the daily energy comparison between ChatGPT and Google search.
Operation Type Energy Per Search Daily Energy Use
ChatGPT Response 0.0029 kWh 621.4 MWh
Google Search 0.0003 kWh 10.8 MWh
Given the energy consumption, AI adoption won’t slow as firms view it as essential, so a smart strategy is needed to employ AI’s benefits while meeting sustainable goals. Luckily, industry experts are developing various solutions to address this challenge.
Potential Solutions
Hardware upgrades Simple Models
Use power-limited, carbon-efficient hardware (e.g., IBM’s 2025 new chips (芯片)) to cut energy. Firms choose smaller, low-energy, cost-effective models for specific needs.
Efficient Training Renewable Energy Open Source
End underperforming models training early; design models for energy efficiency (sustainable design) Build data centers near regions rich in renewable energy. AI firms share energy-saving tools instead of competing privately.
The AI-related energy risks have gained visibility, triggering public awareness and action. Yet focusing on energy alone cannot break the cycle of compounding environmental and operational pressures. “To address AI-energy risks and unlock long-term value, companies and investors must move beyond their narrow roles in the AI value chain. They should pursue strategies that create shared value by advancing business goals while benefiting society and the environment,” notes Lauren Smart in World Economic Forum.

When young, I dreamed of becoming many things. I wished I was an astronaut going up into space, finding new planets and jumping around in a cool space suit. I imagined being a cowboy in the west having gun fights and wearing stylish cowboy boots. I pretended to be a famous footballer, using my skills to score lots of goals. I love being able to play the role of somebody, even just for a short time, to try to realize what it might be like to walk in their shoes.
Looking back, I realize that imagination is a wonderful thing. I was able to create entire environments in my head, using nothing more than my brain, and to be able to adapt things in my everyday surroundings to fit the specific story of the day. Growing up with brothers and sisters also helped, as it meant that even bigger stories could be created, combining our ideas and putting our thoughts into action. It also allowed for more varieties in the story, as sometimes I could be the hero while on other occasions, I would be the bad guy.
One of my all-time favorite memories as a kid was recreating the Indiana Jones character in my back garden. I played the role of Indiana Jones, with my younger sister as my assistant and my brother as the evil man. We used everything in our garden, from the path to the fence, as part of the storyline to create obstacle that needed to be overcome, and we would keep the story going for hours!
My personal favorite was Indiana Jones and the Stolen Easter Eggs, where my brother hid small chocolate eggs around and my sister and I had to find them by answering questions or solving a puzzle. It was difficult but eventually we found all the eggs and shared them together.

A.By buying special tools for their game.
B.By planning the whole story before playing.

Countries around the globe are spending billions of dollars and lots of time on various space missions, whether to Mars or other planets much further away. Some people argue that we should stop wasting time and money exploring space. Instead, we should feed the world’s poor and find immediate solutions to other problems, such as pollution and fatal diseases (致命疾病). However, others feel this is a shallow view which fails to realize how exploring space helps us.
Firstly, exploring space has already made a difference in the fight against world hunger. It has directly resulted in the many satellites that now orbit Earth. A number of the satellites record data on land and weather patterns. Then the data is transmitted (传送) to scientists on Earth. After careful analysis, the scientists can provide useful recommendations and advice for farmers. As a result, space-based science has helped farming in its efforts to grow enough food to feed Earth’s increasing population.
Secondly, space exploration has already promoted technological improvements that benefit us all. High-end products around the world are made to a higher standard now because of advanced technology which was first created to meet the requirements for space exploration. For example, space technologies have helped the research and development of different types of new material. They have also helped companies make better heart monitors and other machines that doctors regularly use. Today, space technologies are widely used in all kinds of industries, and everyday products such as GPS, memory foam pillows (记忆棉枕头), and smartphone cameras are changing our lives.
Finally, sending astronauts into space has helped people to think about the world’s problems and even to find ways to solve them. Seeing pictures of our planet as an island in a black sea made people realise that our planet’s resources are limited. In order to provide for such a rapidly increasing population, scientists are trying to find other planets that could one day be our new home. The greatest attention at present is on Mars because it is closer to Earth. In the future, humans may live on both planets.
In closing, exploring space provides the world with many different benefits. Therefore, it should continue so as to provide new and better solutions to people’s short-term and long-term problems.
61. In writing Paragraph 1, the author aims to ______.
A.propose a definition
B.make a comparison
C.present an argument
D.reach a conclusion

A.They can provide useful recommendations for farmers.
B.They can collect information of the land and weather changes.
C.They can fight against world hunger directly.

63. What idea does the author convey in Paragraph 3
A.Our daily life has benefited from the development of space technology.
B.High-end products cannot meet the needs of space exploration.
C.Space exploration no longer requires high-end products.
D.The development of new material is a must for space exploration.

A Space exploration has changed the way our planet works.
B. Space exploration helps to discover and solve Earth’s problems.
C. In the future, all humans may have to move to Mars.
D Resource shortage and population growth are already serious problems.
65. What is the author’s purpose of writing the passage
A.To show the natural beauty of Quxian.
B.To introduce the value and charm of Quxian Hanque.
C.To teach people ways to protect ancient stone buildings.
D.To state the importance of exploring space.
D
Earlier this year, the Pew Research Center released data showing that 55% of people get their news from social media. In a follow-up study, they found that these people are more likely to see misinformation. When that misinformation is about science, it contributes to the growing mistrust individuals have towards science. We, as scientists, need to do our best to correct this misinformation. However, we are mostly stuck behind our lab desks due to the pressure to publish papers.
When we occasionally do approach the public, we often don’t do a great job of communicating in ways nonscientists can understand. Most of us have not been trained to communicate or teach the lay audience. We use complicated words and phrases and a lot of jargon (术语). We may focus on tiny details that the general public doesn’t need to understand. Other times we forget that the people we are talking to are human, with complicated lives and emotions. Just like us. They deserve our attention and respect. This causes the public to rely on other sources for their scientific information, often the above-mentioned social media.
Today we are seeing the consequences of this. Large percentages of people believe that infectious diseases are not real and that vaccines(疫苗) are dangerous. This distrust in science has gone from a mere inconvenience to now being an issue that endangers public health and safety. Distrust in science also endangers our funding. When the public puts less value in science, there is less public support for tax dollars going to funding for research.
So, what can we do to address these issues People trust those they know and interact with. We need to interact with the public more. During these interactions, we should choose our words carefully. We need to cut out as much jargon as possible. Sometimes it may be necessary, but then we must be clear and explain the terms we use. To help people understand and remember concepts, we can use stories and images to illustrate our main points. Most people can remember a story someone told, or a striking image shared.
66. What concern does the author raise based on the Pew study
A.Declining public curiosity about science.
B.Spread of false scientific information.
C.Scientists’ limited time for lab work.
D.Difficulty in publishing research.
67. What does the underlined word “lay” in paragraph 2 mean
A.Nontechnical.
B.Outnumbered.
C.Misinformed.
D.Undereducated.
68 What results from the public’s disbelief in science
A.Much stricter research regulation.
B.Researchers losing scientific interest.
C.An increased risk for well-being threats.
D.Inconvenient access to scientific findings.
69. What does the author urge scientists to focus on
A.Working with other researchers.
B.Releasing more scientific work.
C.Avoiding social media platforms.
D.Making science more understandable.
70. Which of the following would be the best title for the text
A. Why the Public Distrusts Scientists
B. The Importance of Publishing Scientific Papers
C. The Negative Impact of Social Media on Science
D. How Scientists Can Correct Misinformation and Build Public Trust

What Could the School of 2050 Look Like
Thanks to technology-driven advances in education, the school of 2050 may look different in many ways. For example, as soon as the students enter the classroom, biometric scanning (生物识别扫描) will allow students to check in. Teachers will be able to gather attendance data automatically. For the school of the future, there will be no need to deal with heavy curtains or dust-covered blinds; we’ll have smart glass. Windows can automatically adjust their colors, protecting both our eyes and screens.
By 2050, 3D printers will have become a standard appliance, both in the home and at school. As a learning aid, they’ll have become crucial, allowing teachers more flexibility to explain difficult concepts.
Adaptive learning systems driven by artificial intelligence (AI) will have become integrated into the school environment by 2050. Personalized learning experiences will take into account learning styles and create adaptive assessments that adjust in real time based on performance. AI may also be used to analyze pupils’ work, even so far as predicting future performance, helping teachers understand which students need more guidance on a particular concept before they fall behind.
Students will be able to get immediate feedback (反馈), with suggested areas for improvement and more personalized tutoring (辅导) based on their strengths and weaknesses. And homework assignments will mostly be online. From downloading the assignment at the end of the lesson to submitting it remotely, students will be able to view their coursework, see the percentage completed, and track general assessments.
Gone will be the days of carrying heavy textbooks, and hurriedly putting them into lockers after lessons. Students of the future can look forward to having recommended reading materials right at their fingertips via e-readers and tablet devices which can be operated through virtual reality. As a result, dependence on paper products will be reduced. Though paper won’t disappear completely, it’ll be eco-friendly, either recycled or made from fast-growing plants like bamboo.
71. What technology will help students check into the classroom in 2050 (No more than 5 words)
72. What advantage do 3D printers bring to teaching (No more than 10 words)

Dear teachers and fellow students,
It’s my great honor to share my ideas about learning to make choices with you all.
Life is full of choices. When we meet difficulties, we can choose to hold on instead of giving up. When valuable chances come, we ought to catch them bravely rather than hesitate. When standing at crossroads of life, we should follow our true heart and make a wise decision.
Every choice leads to a different path. Once we make up our minds, there is no need to regret. Whether the result is good or bad, we can learn valuable lessons from it and grow stronger.
I hope all of us can stay calm when facing choices, think twice before acting, and never be afraid to take responsibility for our decisions.
Thank you for listening!
