Dear friends,
Summer vacation is coming. Reading great books can make your holiday wonderful. Here I’d like to share four great works with you.
The first one is Alice in Wonderland. A girl named Alice runs after a strange white rabbit and falls into a rabbit hole. She enters a magical world with talking animals and experiences many exciting adventures. It is full of fun and imagination. Next is Robinson Crusoe. After a shipwreck (沉船), Crusoe arrives on a lonely island. He builds a house to survive and makes a good friend named Friday. They go through all kinds of adventures together on the island.
Then I suggest Charlotte’s Web. It shares a warm story full of care and love. The book shows different personalities and records ordinary but meaningful daily life. You can feel the love of family and friends from it. The last book is Treasure Island. It follows a boy called Jim Hawkins. With a treasure (财宝) map, he sets sail for a treasure island. During the journey, he faces many dangers and tries his best to get the treasure back. It’s an exciting story about courage and wisdom.
Pick one and start your happy reading journey!

Sarah had worked at the elephant rescue centre as a volunteer since three years ago. During that time, she cared for a tiny baby elephant named Bamboo. Bamboo had lost her mother to hunters and was very weak and sad. Every day, Sarah fed her warm milk, sang soft songs, and slept beside her. Slowly, Bamboo grew stronger and happier.
When Bamboo was ready, the keepers moved her to the wild forest. Sarah was happy for Bamboo, but her heart felt heavy. She missed the little elephant deeply.
Three years later, Sarah returned to visit the centre. The keepers told her that Bamboo now lived in the nearby forest with other elephants. Sarah walked quietly to the edge (边) of the forest and waited.
Suddenly, a large young elephant walked out from the trees. It was Bamboo. She stopped and lifted her trunk (象鼻) high into the air. Then she walked faster and faster toward Sarah.
Sarah’s eyes filled with tears. Bamboo touched Sarah’s face gently with her trunk, just like she did when she was a baby. She made soft, happy sounds and stayed close to Sarah’s side.
The keepers watched in silence. One of them whispered, “She remembered you.”

Have you ever seen a sandstorm It is a big storm that fills the sky with thick, yellow dust (灰尘).
Sandstorms happen when the weather is very warm and dry. When it does not rain for a long time, the ground gets very dry. Then, strong winds come and blow the dry dirt and sand high into the sky.
Sandstorms cause a lot of trouble. The thick dust makes the sky dark, and it is very hard to see. Sometimes, you cannot even see things that are close to you! Because it is dangerous to go outside, planes cannot fly, and students have to stay home from school.
The good news is that sandstorms are happening less often in China. Why Because China is planting millions of trees!
In the 1970s, China started a big project called the Three-North Shelter Forest Program. Trees are great because their roots hold the dirt in place. When the wind blows, the trees stop the sand from flying away. Thanks to these trees, the deserts in China are getting smaller every year.
China also has a smart weather warning system (系统). It uses colours like red, orange, and yellow to tell people if a sandstorm is coming. This gives everyone time to get ready and stay safe inside.

六、书面表达参考范文
Good morning, everyone! I’m happy to be here for today’s Daily Talk Show. The topic is “Our Hobbies”.
I did a survey about our classmates’ hobbies last weekend. 40% of us like playing computer games, while only 10% take exercise like basketball or running. 35% enjoy reading and 15% watch TV.
Spending too much time on screens is bad for our eyes and bodies. We may become weak and lazy.
I have two suggestions. First, cut down screen time and do more sports. Second, choose more meaningful hobbies such as reading.
Let’s develop healthy hobbies and keep fit. Thank you!
