定语从句(关系代词 that / which / who 引导)(单元重点,必考易错点)
1. 定义
定语从句,就是在句子里充当“定语”的从句——说白了,它跟在一个名词后面,用来修饰、限定这个名词。这个被修饰的名词叫“先行词”,连接先行词和从句的那个词叫“关系代词”。本单元重点学习由 that、which、who 三个关系代词引导的定语从句。
2. 详细用法
(1)基本结构
★ 先行词 + 关系代词 + 定语从句
这是定语从句的基本骨架。先行词就是被修饰的那个名词(或代词),放在从句前面;关系代词起“连接”作用,把先行词和从句拴在一起,同时在从句中充当一定的句子成分(主语或宾语)。理解这一点很关键——关系代词不是凭空出现的,它代替的就是先行词,在从句里扮演先行词的“角色”。
(2)关系代词 that / which / who 的选择
★ that — 指人或物,在从句中作主语或宾语
that 是最“万能”的关系代词,既可以指人,也可以指物,作主语或宾语都行。不过在考试中,如果先行词是物,一般优先选 which;如果先行词是人,优先选 who。that 更多用在以下特殊场景(后面会讲)。
例句1:I love music that tells a story.(先行词 music 是物,that 在从句中作主语)
例句2:That’s the only thing that I can do.(先行词 thing 被 the only 修饰,只能用 that)
★ which — 指物,在从句中作主语或宾语
which 只能指物(不能指人),这是它和 that 的区别之一。在先行词是“物”的一般情况下,which 和 that 可以互换。但在非限制性定语从句(有逗号隔开的那种)中,只能用 which,不能用 that。
例句1:The song which uses the violin is my favourite.
(先行词 song 是物,which 在从句中作主语)
例句2:He is listening to the music which he downloaded.
(先行词 music 是物,which 在从句中作宾语,可省略)
★ who — 指人,在从句中作主语或宾语
who 只能指人(不能指物),这是铁律。当先行词是“人”的时候,优先用 who。如果 who 在从句中作宾语,也可以用 whom(更正式),但在中考中 who 作宾语也很常见。
例句1:I like musicians who are creative.(先行词 musicians 是人,who 在从句中作主语)
例句2:He is the kind of man who never gives up.(先行词 man 是人,who 在从句中作主语)
(3)关系代词作宾语时可省略(重点!)
这个知识点考试特别爱考。当关系代词在从句中充当宾语的时候,可以省略——因为它被“省掉”之后,从句的结构仍然是完整的(主语+谓语+其他成分都有了)。但是,如果关系代词在从句中作主语,绝对不能省略,省了的话从句就没主语了,句子就“散架”了。
可以省略:That’s the music (that/which) I like.(that/which 在从句中作宾语,I 是主语,like 是谓语,like 后面缺宾语,that/which 正好补上,省了也不影响理解)
不可省略:I like music that tells a story.(that 在从句中作主语,省了从句就没主语了)
(4)只能用 that 的情况(补充,考试常考)
有时候题目会给你挖坑——先行词明明是物,但 which 不能用,只能用 that。这些特殊情况一定要记住:
① 先行词被 all / every / any / no 等修饰时:All that I have is yours.(不能说 All which...)
② 先行词被序数词修饰时:The first thing that I did was...(不能说 The first thing which...)
③ 先行词被最高级修饰时:The best music that I’ve ever heard...(不能说 The best music which...)
④ 先行词既有人又有物时:The man and his dog that I saw...(既有“人”又有“物”,which 只能指物,who 只能指人,只能用 that)
(5)如何判断先行词和选择关系代词(解题步骤)
做题的时候不要凭感觉选,按以下三步来,保证不丢分:
第一步:找到先行词——看关系代词前面紧挨着的名词是什么。
第二步:判断先行词是人还是物——人用 who/that,物用 which/that。
第三步:看关系代词在从句中作什么成分——作主语不可省略,作宾语可省略。
3. 易错点总结(必记)
易错点1:先行词是人时误用 which
I like musicians which are creative. I like musicians who are creative.
先行词 musicians 是人,必须用 who 或 that,which 只能指物。
易错点2:关系代词作主语时省略
I like music tells a story. I like music that tells a story.
that 在从句中作主语(tells 的主语就是 that),作主语的关系代词绝对不能省略,省了从句就没有主语了。
易错点3:先行词是物时误用 who
The song who uses the violin is my favourite. The song which/that uses the violin is my favourite.
先行词 song 是物,只能用 which 或 that,who 只能指人。
易错点4:在只能用 that 的情况下误用 which
This is the best music which I have ever heard.
This is the best music that I have ever heard.
先行词被最高级 best 修饰,只能用 that,不能用 which。

定语从句(关系代词 that / which / who 引导)(单元重点,必考易错点)
1. 定义
定语从句,就是在句子里充当“定语”的从句——说白了,它跟在一个名词后面,用来修饰、限定这个名词。这个被修饰的名词叫“先行词”,连接先行词和从句的那个词叫“关系代词”。本单元重点学习由 that、which、who 三个关系代词引导的定语从句。
2. 详细用法
(1)基本结构
★ 先行词 + 关系代词 + 定语从句
这是定语从句的基本骨架。先行词就是被修饰的那个名词(或代词),放在从句前面;关系代词起“连接”作用,把先行词和从句拴在一起,同时在从句中充当一定的句子成分(主语或宾语)。理解这一点很关键——关系代词不是凭空出现的,它代替的就是先行词,在从句里扮演先行词的“角色”。
(2)关系代词 that / which / who 的选择
★ that — 指人或物,在从句中作主语或宾语
that 是最“万能”的关系代词,既可以指人,也可以指物,作主语或宾语都行。不过在考试中,如果先行词是物,一般优先选 which;如果先行词是人,优先选 who。that 更多用在以下特殊场景(后面会讲)。
例句1:I love music ______ tells a story.(先行词 music 是物,that 在从句中作主语)
例句2:That’s the only thing ______ I can do.(先行词 thing 被 the only 修饰,只能用 that)
★ which — 指物,在从句中作主语或宾语
which 只能指物(不能指人),这是它和 that 的区别之一。在先行词是“物”的一般情况下,which 和 that 可以互换。但在非限制性定语从句(有逗号隔开的那种)中,只能用 which,不能用 that。
例句1:The song ______ uses the violin is my favourite.
(先行词 song 是物,which 在从句中作主语)
例句2:He is listening to the music ______ he downloaded.
(先行词 music 是物,which 在从句中作宾语,可省略)
★ who — 指人,在从句中作主语或宾语
who 只能指人(不能指物),这是铁律。当先行词是“人”的时候,优先用 who。如果 who 在从句中作宾语,也可以用 whom(更正式),但在中考中 who 作宾语也很常见。
例句1:I like musicians ______ are creative.(先行词 musicians 是人,who 在从句中作主语)
例句2:He is the kind of man ______ never gives up.(先行词 man 是人,who 在从句中作主语)
(3)关系代词作宾语时可省略(重点!)
这个知识点考试特别爱考。当关系代词在从句中充当宾语的时候,可以省略——因为它被“省掉”之后,从句的结构仍然是完整的(主语+谓语+其他成分都有了)。但是,如果关系代词在从句中作主语,绝对不能省略,省了的话从句就没主语了,句子就“散架”了。
可以省略:That’s the music (______) I like.(that/which 在从句中作宾语,I 是主语,like 是谓语,like 后面缺宾语,that/which 正好补上,省了也不影响理解)
不可省略:I like music ______ tells a story.(that 在从句中作主语,省了从句就没主语了)
(4)只能用 that 的情况(补充,考试常考)
有时候题目会给你挖坑——先行词明明是物,但 which 不能用,只能用 that。这些特殊情况一定要记住:
① 先行词被 all / every / any / no 等修饰时:All ______ I have is yours.(不能说 All which...)
② 先行词被序数词修饰时:The first thing ______ I did was...(不能说 The first thing which...)
③ 先行词被最高级修饰时:The best music ______ I’ve ever heard...(不能说 The best music which...)
④ 先行词既有人又有物时:The man and his dog ______ I saw...(既有“人”又有“物”,which 只能指物,who 只能指人,只能用 that)
(5)如何判断先行词和选择关系代词(解题步骤)
做题的时候不要凭感觉选,按以下三步来,保证不丢分:
第一步:找到先行词——看关系代词前面紧挨着的名词是什么。
第二步:判断先行词是人还是物——人用 who/that,物用 which/that。
第三步:看关系代词在从句中作什么成分——作主语不可省略,作宾语可省略。
3. 易错点总结(必记)
易错点1:先行词是人时误用 which
I like musicians which are creative. I like musicians ______ are creative.
先行词 musicians 是人,必须用 who 或 that,which 只能指物。
易错点2:关系代词作主语时省略
I like music tells a story. I like music ______ tells a story.
that 在从句中作主语(tells 的主语就是 that),作主语的关系代词绝对不能省略,省了从句就没有主语了。
易错点3:先行词是物时误用 who
