When a natural disaster strikes, some animals seem to know it’s coming before humans do. This was certainly true for a dog named Lucky in a small town in China.
Lucky lived with the Chen family. One summer night, everyone was sleeping soundly. Suddenly, Lucky started barking loudly and scratching at the bedroom doors. He wouldn’t stop. Mr. Chen woke up, feeling annoyed. “Quiet, Lucky! Go to sleep!” he shouted. But Lucky kept barking and running to the front door.
Then Mrs. Chen noticed something strange. “The floor feels like it’s moving,” she said. Just then, the bed started shaking. “Earthquake!” Mr. Chen shouted. He grabbed his wife and children, and they ran outside. Lucky ran with them.
Outside, they joined other neighbors who had also run out of their homes. The shaking continued for about 30 seconds. When it stopped, they saw that some houses had cracks in the walls. But everyone in their neighborhood was safe.
Later, they learned that the earthquake was magnitude (震级) 5.2. No one in their town died, and people said it was because of warnings from animals like Lucky.
From that day on, the Chen family treated Lucky like a hero. “He saved our lives,” Mr. Chen said. “If he hadn’t woken us up, we might still be inside when the earthquake hit.” Lucky proved that sometimes the best warning system comes on four legs.

The Big Stone River is the most interesting sight of Taganai Park in Russia. Different from other rivers, it is filled with thousands of rocks and stones. Not a drop of water can be seen. Interestingly, as one comes near to the rocky river, the sound of running water can be heard.
The Big Stone River is about 6 km long and is made up of many small rocky rivers. It cuts through a thick forest like a real river. It is about 200 meters wide and in some places, it is up to 700 meters wide. Some of the rocks weigh up to 10 tons each and the layer (层) of rocks goes down to 6 meters deep.
Scientists believe it is the consequence of the movement of glaciers (冰川) about 10,000 years ago. At that time, ice covered the top of the mountains, reaching up to 4,800 meters in length. As time went by, the ice melted (融化) and turned into water. The rocks fell down from the mountains slowly and became the river of rocks.

Growing up with books
Hi, everyone. I am very glad to share my ideas about reading books with you.
I like reading storybooks best, especially those about brave teenagers. They bring me joy and teach me valuable life lessons.
I love them because the heroes in the stories never give up when they meet trouble. Their spirits always encourage me to face difficulties bravely.
Last month, I finished a story about a girl who kept trying until she realized her dream. Every night I read a few pages before sleep. When I felt upset about my study, the book cheered me up a lot.
Books are my best friends. They grow together with me and make me a better person.
