1. Complete the postcard. (Activity 1)
Ask the students to complete the postcard with the correct forms of the words below.
2. Think and share.
Ask the students to discuss the following question in groups and then share their opinions.

Suggested answer:
She admires the unique architectural details most. Renting a car lets her see wonderful sights freely, and her credit card being usable here saves her from carrying lots of cash. Besides, she also packed comfortable walking shoes for long walks.
3. Read and Mark. (Activity 2)
①Ask the students to read the conversation and mark the phrases expressing future plans.
②Ask the students to role-play the conversation with a partner. Pay attention to their stress and intonation.
4. Think and share.
Ask the students to discuss the following question in groups and then share their opinions.
What travel plans does Paul have during his four-day stay in Lijiang, and what preparation has he made for the trip to Yulong Snow Mountain
Suggested answer:
He has visited the Old Town already, and he will visit Yulong Snow Mountain by cable car tomorrow. If time permits, he also plans to visit Blue Moon Valley and Yak Meadow. He brings sweaters and coats to keep warm on the cold mountain.

（二）Project: Design a travel brochure

Ask the students to read the posts and find out what each student's reason is for travelling.
2. Group work. (Activity 2)
Ask the students to work in groups and then research, plan, and design a tour.
①Ask the students to brainstorm different types of tours and add them to the list provided in the textbook.
②Ask the students to choose one person and a tour they might like. Work out a week-long travel plan for the tour.
3. Design a travel brochure. (Activity 3)
Ask the students to design a travel brochure for the tour and make their brochure as attractive as possible.

Suggested answer:
There are a few places like Machu Picchu in China. For example, near Turpan, Xinjiang there is the ancient walled city of Gaochang. The city was destroyed by war in the 14th century, though some buildings and the city walls still remain. Since that time, no one has lived there. Gaochang is like Machu Picchu in that at one time it was a great city, but no one lives there any longer, and that it is in a fairly remote area.
Should tourism be stopped in places like Machu Picchu Why or why not
Suggested answer:
Tourism should not be stopped in places like Machu Picchu. While such places need to be protected, this should be balanced by the need for the world to see and experience their wonders, and the need for local people to make a living.
