【答案】Dear fellow students,
A green campus is far more than a pleasant learning environment — it’s a living classroom where we nurture environmental awareness and sense of responsibility. Protecting our campus environment is vital for sustainable development and sets a positive example for the wider community.
Yet, we often witness wasteful behaviors: lights and air-conditioners run in empty classrooms, and plastic bottles litter the corridors. To reverse this, let’s form small but impactful habits: switch off devices when leaving, carry reusable water bottles, and sort waste properly.
Every small effort counts. Let’s join the Campus Green Initiative and work together to turn our campus into an eco-friendly haven!

Lying in bed, Nancy kept thinking about this question. She recalled how she’d forced herself to gush about Alice’s favorite pop singer even though she preferred classical music, and how she’d pretended to love spicy noodles just to match Alice’s taste at lunch. Each memory made her chest feel heavier. “If being myself means being lonely, maybe loneliness is better than feeling like a fake,” she whispered. Suddenly, she sat up — she’d rather have no friends than keep hiding who she was. Tomorrow, she decided, she’d stop trying so hard to please.
The next day, Alice commented on a film, but Nancy didn’t nod. “It was so boring — I fell asleep halfway through,” Alice sighed. Normally, Nancy would have agreed, but this time she shook her head. “Actually, I loved the ending! It felt so real,” she said, holding her breath. To her surprise, Alice’s eyes lit up. “Really I thought I was the only one who hated the bad reviews. Let’s talk about it at lunch!” Nancy smiled — for the first time, it felt like a real one.湖南衡阳市第一中学2025-2026学年高一下学期7月模拟英语试题

Norwegian playwright and author Jon Fosse has just been awarded the 2023 Nobel prize in Literature for his “innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable”.
The Swedish Academy credit s Fosse as “one of the most widely performed playwrights in the world”, although the 64 -year-old originally made his name as a novelist, beginning with Red, Black in 1983. He has since written many works of prose and poetry. “His literary works, spanning a variety of genres(体裁), consist of about 40 plays and a wealth of novels, poetry collections, essays, children’s books and translations,” said Anders Olsson, chairman of the Nobel committee for Literature.
Jon Fosse draws inspiration from his rural living environment and personal struggles which have deeply influenced his distinctive writing style. Growing up in a small coastal village, Fosse was lost in the beauty of nature and the vastness of the sea, which filled him with a sense of solitude and introspection(内省) that is reflected in his works. Fosse’s writing discussed themes of loneliness, longing, and the search for meaning in life. Additionally, his battles with depression have enabled him to explore the depths of human emotions and existential despair.
“He touches you so deeply when you read his works,” said Anders Olsson. “What is special about him is the closeness in his writing. It touches your deepest feelings -anxieties, insecurities, questions of life and death -which are things that every human being actually faces from the very beginning. In that sense I think he reaches very far and there is a sort of a universal impact of everything that he writes - it has appeal to this basic humanity.”
Fosse is the first-ever winner of the award writing in Nynorsk, one of the two official languages of Norwegian, but only used by just 10% of the population. As The Guardian writes, “Many Nynorsk speakers see Fosse ‘as a kind of national hero’ for his championing of the language.” Fosse’s recognition on a global stage contributes to the visibility of Nynorsk as a written standard. It will attract more attention to Nynorsk literature, inspire and encourage Nynorsk speakers to continue preserving and highlighting their linguistic(语言的) heritage.
4. What can best describe Jon Fosse’s writing life
A. Productive. B. Historical. C. Unrecognized. D. Unfulfilling.
5. What is Para.3 mainly about
A. Fosse’s education background. B. Fosse’s growing environment.

6. What is special about Fosse’ works according to Anders Olsson
A. They explore the meaning of rural life. B. They appeal to young people especially.
C. They access the core of human emotions. D. They show bond between human and nature.
7. Why was Fosse viewed as “a kind of national hero”
A. He resets writing standards of Nynorsk. B. He inspires the preservation of Nynorsk.
C. He promotes interaction across cultures. D. He champions Nynorsk as a global language.
C
On my fourth birthday, my father found me at the bottom of the pool, sharing air supply with a family friend: I was having my first scuba (水肺潜水) experience. I’ve been diving ever since and, from age seven, have gone on to explore some of the most remote parts of the globe.
My grandfather, Jacques Cousteau, was a pioneer of ocean exploration. He contributed to the invention of many of the tools he needed — scuba, submersibles (潜水器), underwater cameras and more — because he saw the need for innovation to learn and explore. He believed that we would conserve only what we love — and love only what we understand. That belief had driven him to go beyond the known, and to push the boundaries of comfort and routine.
I dive into the unknown because the ocean is unique, magical, and mysterious. It is Earth’s life-support system, without which we cannot exist. Many of our body’s vital functions rely on the fact that we live in a liquid world. Foods we eat and our mild weather also depend on the sea.
In all of modern ocean exploration, we’ve barely scratched the surface — we’ve explored far less than 10%. This should not come as a surprise, considering that the ocean totals 99% of our planet’s living space. Add to this the complexities of ocean below the surface, and it becomes clear why our knowledge is still so limited.
One could imagine that understanding the system that makes our planet tick and managing its health would be a top priority. However, in 2022, NASA received more than 500 times as much funding as NOAA did for ocean exploration and research. Space exploration is vital, but exploring the seas of our planet is equally critical. Our planet faces urgent challenges, and the seas are stressed, perhaps almost to a breaking point. We must stay in the water and pursue knowledge and answers as quickly and as wisely as we can.
How wonderful it is when all the efforts pay off with a discovery that solves a problem facing humanity or nature! My passion for and dedication to ocean exploration and conservation come from two generations who have passed down this curiosity and love of the blue planet. And I will do everything I can to make sure that my grandchildren can do the same.
8. Why does the author mention his grandfather in Para.2
A. To criticize modern explorers for lacking creativity.
B. To indicate the origin of his own passion for the ocean.
C. To show how previous inventions enabled the exploration.
D. To compare past and present methods of underwater research.
9. What does ocean exploration mean to the author
A. It is mainly a family tradition and personal hobby.
B. It is exciting but less urgent than other global issues.
C. It should be left to scientists and not involve the public.
D. It is essential for understanding and protecting our planet.
10. The underlined phrase “scratch the surface” in Para.4 is closest in meaning to .
A. take it for granted B. throw in the towel
C. make little progress D. build castles in the air
11. The author wrote this passage to .
A. urge immediate action to research and protect the ocean
B. analyze how ocean ecosystems help sustain human life
C. inspire future explorers with their thrilling adventures
D. describe the author’s personal diving experiences
D
Predicting extreme weather events is a challenging business. Changing climate conditions have increased the frequency of severe storms, floods, and heatwaves, along with larger wildfires. As a result, scientists are using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for more accurate forecasts that help to reduce damage and save lives.
Researchers at Pennsylvania State University have worked together with meteorologists (气象学家) to analyze more than 50,000 weather satellite images to quickly identify storms. They found comma-shaped (点状) cloud formations that often lead to severe weather such as high winds and puters were then taught using computer vision and machine learning to automatically detect these clouds from satellite images, with almost 100 percent accuracy, in less than a minute.
By refocusing meteorologists' attention on potential storm cloud formations the AI tool helped predict 64 percent of severe weather events and beat established detection systems. Senior meteorologist Steve Wistar said it let forecasters find storm formations in a sea of cloud data. “ The calling of our business is to save lives and protect property, ” he said. “ The more advance notice we give to people that would be affected by a storm, the better we're providing that service.”
Using AI techniques generates highly accurate and inexpensive forecasts for hours or days ahead. Negative impacts from climate change on weather are being felt everywhere. The US National Climate Assessment says frequent severe events will affect communities across the nation. There were 20 billion dollar weather disasters in 2021 alone, including wildfires, winter storms, floods, and tornadoes. “And average costs associated with extreme weather events in the United States have increased steadily since 1980,” said Renny Vandewege, a company's vice president of weather operations. “ These have costly impacts on cities’ basic services, housing, human livelihoods, and health. AI helps us to calculate that risk and can be used as a preventive measure.”
12. Why do scientists use AI techniques for extreme weather forecasts
A. To prove AI techniques' accuracy. B. To prevent the occurrence of disasters.
C. To obtain weather satellite images. D. To reduce impacts of disasters and save lives.
13. What can we know from paragraph 2 and paragraph 3
A. Most cloud formations can lead to severe weather.
B. Computers can finish its predicting task in less than a second.
C. Established detection systems help forecasters find storm formations.
D. The AI tool has better predictive power than established detection systems.
14. Which statement will Renny Vandewege probably agree with
A. City services should be improved at all costs.
B. AI may help people reduce the cost of living.
C. The US spends most on dealing with extreme weather.
D. AI is the only measure to predict natural disasters.
15. What is the suitable title for the text
A. The Future Will See More Uses of AI
B. AI Has Entered Every Corner of Our Life
C. AI Helps to Predict Extreme Weather and Save Lives
D. Extreme Weather Will Claim More Lives in the Future

Nancy stepped into the high school hallway with a pounding heart. It was her first week, and she clutched her notebook tightly, scanning the crowd for familiar faces. Back in middle school, she’d learned that smiling widely and agreeing with everyone kept her from being lonely. “I’ll just do what works,” she thought to herself.
At lunch, she spotted a girl with curly hair sitting alone by the window. “Hi! I’m Nancy. Mind if I join you ” she asked, already pulling out a chair. The girl looked up — Alice, according to the name tag on her desk. “Sure,” Alice said, but her tone was flat.
Nancy spent the next two weeks trying to win Alice over. She saved the last chocolate in her lunch box for her, laughed loudly at her jokes even when she didn’t get them, and copied Alice’s notes word for word, hoping to spark conversations. “Your handwriting is so neat!” she’d say. Alice would just nod and turn back to her book.
One afternoon, Nancy lingered by the classroom door, holding a drawing she’d made of Alice’s favorite band. Through the half-open door, she heard voices. It was Alice, talking to a friend. “Nancy’s so annoying,” Alice said. “She agrees with everything I say and brings me things every day. It’s like she’s trying too hard to please everyone. Such a people-pleaser.”
The drawing slipped from Nancy’s hand. Her throat felt tight, and her eyes stung. She ran to the bathroom, locked herself in a stall, and stared at her reflection in the mirror. For the first time, her old way of making friends didn’t just feel tiring — it hurt. She thought about all the times she’d pretended to like things she hated, just to fit in. Was this really what friendship meant
注意:(1)续写词数应为150左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸相应位置作答。
