Glaciers are made of ice and snow. They slowly move over land and shape mountains on the earth. Mountains with glaciers are home to lots of life. But glaciers don’t just change the land. When glaciers turn to water, they give nutrients (养分) to lakes, rivers and seas, supporting the growth of living things.

About 25% of the world’s people need water from glaciers. They live in places like the Himalayas, Karakoram and Hindu Kush.
However, climate change brings serious problems to glaciers. Many glaciers disappeared. For example, Colombia lost 90% of its glaciers.
