一、阅读理解
(2026·广东·中考真题)Many schools have started projects to make changes to their school grounds in order to make better use of them. The projects have achieved good results. Some schools have reduced heat, some have got more play space, and others have helped create different learning experiences.
The most common practice of the schools is planting more trees around the playground. Trees provide cooler spaces in summer. They also bring birds and insects. Students, therefore, would like to go to the playground more often. And they become more connected to nature. Some schools even set up reading areas under these trees. Students can listen to birds singing while reading there.
▲ For example, they turn some of the school grounds into vegetable fields or fruit gardens. The students work in teams and learn how to grow vegetables or fruits. In this way, they get hands-on learning experience. At harvest (收获) time, they share what they get from the fields and gardens, and they also harvest the joy of labor and cooperation.
These reshaping projects make school grounds more popular with students. The reason behind the success is that students are included. After all, they are the users of the grounds. In many cases, designers first survey the students for their ideas. Then they draw up several designs for the students to vote on. When the project is completed, the students are invited to feed back on it so that it can be further improved in the future.

(2026·四川广元·中考真题)Can you imagine a world without fire, where food can’t be cooked and there is no way to stay warm in winter In ancient times, our ancestors lived under such conditions.
Back then, people didn’t know that there was fire, let alone how to use it. When night fell, it was as black as a hole, and the cries of wild animals could be heard in the air. People had to stay close together, cold and scared. Without fire, they had to eat raw (生的) food, which often made them ill, leading to early deaths.
This is the point in the story when Suiren appears. Ancient texts show that there was once a place called Suiming, where people didn’t know about the change of seasons or the difference between day and night. In that land, a huge tree called the Sui Wood grew widely.
Much later, a wise man visited the land and rested under the tree. Suddenly, a large bird pecked at the tree, and bright fires broke out. After seeing what the bird did, the man took a small branch (树枝) and drilled it to make fire. From then on, he was known as Suiren.
Suiren became the first person to create fire in ancient China, teaching people to cook food, ending the age of eating raw meat. This made humans different from animals and he is honored as the “Fire Ancestor”. Every year, different kinds of events related to fire culture are held to honor the great man. (2026·江西·中考真题)Scientists in Brazil have found a new method to clean water. They can use seeds (种子) from a tree to clean dirty water. The water often has tiny plastic pieces in it. These are called microplastics. Microplastics are tiny bits of plastic, less than 0.5 cm long. They can be too small to see. They can get inside the bodies of living things, including humans.
There is a kind of tree called a Moringa tree, which grows well in hot areas and lots of people eat its leaves and seeds. For years, scientists have studied if the seeds can work on microplastics to clean dirty water. Now, they have good news. In their latest study, the team found that a substance (物质) from the seeds was very useful. When they put this substance in the water, the microplastics would stick together. So it was easier to take them out with a filter (滤水器).
The scientists first tested the method on tap water (自来水). They added microplastics to the water. Then, they compared their new method with a popular one. The popular method is more harmful to the environment. Surprisingly, both methods cleaned the water well. In some types of water, the Moringa seeds worked even better!
Now, the team is testing the seeds on water that is collected from rivers in Brazil. The results show that this new method works well for river water, too. The scientists say it is a better choice for the environment, because it does not harm nature as the popular method does.
However, more tests are still needed. Scientists want to see if this new method can clean large amounts (数量) of water.

(2026·四川广元·中考真题)The possibility of living on Mars is being explored after a study proved the discovery of saltwater lakes below the surface of Mars.
Billions of years ago, the climate of Mars was warm and wet and had the possibility for hosting microbial (微生物的) life. Scientists are not 100 percent sure what happened to water on it. One popular general idea is solar (太阳的) wind. According to the idea, the solar wind likely blew away CO2 as well as small drops of water from air on Mars over the past billion years, leaving the planet with only 10 percent of its beginning amount of water today.
It is just like when we get our skin wet and there are small drops of water on the surface, the wind will finally dry us off, and the water will be carried away. This is very likely to happen to Mars, causing the surface to become hard and dry.
This discovery was made with the help of the European Space Agency’s Mars Express spaceship, which sent out radio waves to the planet’s surface. Scientists decided what material their radio waves met with. The area with the supposed bodies of water had high reflectivity (反射率), which is why scientists believe that water is stored below the surface.
With temperatures as low as the average on Mars, water is supposed to be frozen. But scientists think that water on Mars is able to keep a water form because of the high level of the salt—so high that the possibility of active life surviving in such a condition is pretty low.
With the salty water and an unsuitable climate, Mars is now not fit to live on. But scientists are still trying to learn more about the life forms that once possibly lived on the planet.
25.What does the underlined word “it” refer to (指代) in paragraph 2
A.Earth. B.Solar surface. C.Mars. D.Microbial life.

B.To provide further information about Mars.
C.To stress the importance of water on Mars.
D.To suggest keeping skin from getting dry.
27.How did the researchers prove there is water on Mars
A.By sending out the spaceship to Mars.
B.By measuring the amount of salt on Mars.
C.By checking the materials collected from Mars.
D.By noticing the number of reflected radio waves.
28.What do scientists think of the future living on Mars
A.Comfortable. B.Hopeful. C.Disappointed. D.Uncaring.
29.What’s the best title of the passage
A.The Exploration of Energy on Mars B.The Situation of Living Things on Mars
C.The Explanation of The Climate on Mars D.The Discovery of Saltwater Lakes on Mars

As the number of bees has fallen much in recent years, many countries are looking for ways to protect these lovely insects. The UK city of Leicester has a plan of its own.
The city has begun to turn its traditional bus stops into Living Roofs or Bee Bus Stops to attract (吸引) bees and other insects. Different from a traditional bus stop, a Bee Bus Stop has a small garden on top with flowers and grass. Every bus stop will help bring in more biodiversity (生物多样性) into the city and absorb (吸收) rainwater that falls on the roof, making it a greener and happier place for both animals and people to live.
A solar panel (太阳能电池板) is fixed on every bus stop to provide lighting wherever possible, which can cut energy use. Besides, building Bee Bus Stops will also help cool down the city by absorbing some of the heat during the summer months.
“We’d love to see the living roofs in every town and city across the UK and even across Europe, which will have a good influence on our planet,” an official said.

(2026·河南·中考真题)Did you notice how nature sometimes repeats itself Something that repeats is called a pattern. There are many patterns for you to study and learn.
Look around you. Patterns are everywhere. You may see bright and colorful patterns if you look at fish in the sea. In a bee’s honeycomb, the six-sided shape is repeated many times. Some leaves always have five points on them.
Listening carefully, you will find a noisy world. Dogs bark, the rain falls and the wind blows. Are these patterns Of course! Sounds that repeat are patterns. A cricket (蟋蟀) uses its wings to make repeated chirping (啁啾叫) sounds. Do you know that a cricket’s chirp changes with the temperature The hotter it is, the more chirps a cricket will make.
Try to find out how living things grow around you. Seeds (种子) grow into plants. A butterfly begins life as an egg. Each living thing has its own pattern as it grows. When a human baby is born, it is small. With time, the baby learns to lift its head and learns to roll over. Finally, the baby learns to stand up and walk. This kind of pattern is called a pattern of development.
If something happens over and over, it, too, forms a pattern. For example, you get up at 7:00 every morning. You get dressed and then eat breakfast at 7:30 a.m. If you repeat this many times, it becomes a pattern. Having a music class every Monday is a pattern. So is going to school five days a week and having Saturday and Sunday off.
It seems as if the world is full of patterns. Just think—without patterns, the world would be much harder to study!

Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have estimated (估计) that the world may need about 1 billion new homes by 2050. According to a researcher from MIT, if people use wood to make so many homes, more than three times the size of the Amazon rainforest may be cut. The MIT researchers tried to find other materials to take the place of wood to make house parts. And they found recycled plastic could play a role.
The MIT team discovered that recycled plastic mixed with bits of glass could be used as a new material to make trusses (桁架)—supports put under floors to make sure that the floors can carry the weight of everything on them.
The MIT team wanted to know how much weight the trusses could carry. In a test, they 3D printed four trusses with the new material. Each truss weighed only about 6 kg—lighter than a comparable wooden truss. The team put the four trusses under a wooden floor model and slowly added heavy weights on the floor. Through the test, the team found the four trusses could sustain objects weighing more than 1,800 kg—about the weight of a car. This showed trusses made from the new material were strong enough to be used in house building in America.
The finding may benefit house building a lot. It will be much easier to send house parts made from this new material to different places. What’s more, the researchers say it is possible to bring down the cost of making house parts. The researchers hope that one day they can 3D print more house parts with the new material, so that more used plastic could be turned into something useful.

(2026·新疆乌鲁木齐·中考真题)Many people used to believe that crying means weakness, especially for men. However, holding back tears can harm our bodies, while sometimes crying actually helps us relax and stay healthy.
Scientists did research on tears. At first, they asked volunteers to watch a sad movie and collected their tears. Secondly, they made the same people cry by cutting onions. The results were very different. Tears from sadness can take away harmful chemicals (化学物质). If the chemicals stay in our bodies for too long, they may cause heart and blood problems. But tears from cutting onions can’t.
More studies show that crying also creates another helpful chemical. This chemical helps wounds heal (愈合) faster. In fact, the more a person cries after getting hurt, the sooner he or she will recover. So crying is not that bad. It is natural medicine for our bodies.
Anybody may meet difficulties or feel sad from time to time. We do not need to pretend (假装) to be strong. Remember that people who allow themselves to cry are healthier.
So, just let tears drop when you feel down!

(2026·湖北·中考真题)In ancient China, letters were sent by pigeons and packages (包裹) by mon people could hardly afford it. In 1896, China opened its very first post office. That was the beginning of China’s own postal service. With a small stamp on the cover, people in big cities could send letters and packages. Bikes, ships and trains carried them across mountains and rivers in the country, even abroad.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the postal service grew rapidly. Post offices were set up all around the country. Their services stretched to even the quietest, farthest villages. That made communication much easier for people in every corner of the country. College students could write to their parents in faraway hometowns. Friends and relatives could send packages on festivals to greet each other.
Since the 1990s, a new branch (分支) of postal service, the delivery (快递) industry, has also grown rapidly. Take the year 2025 for example. Every second, over 6,000 packages were on the move. Every day, more than 500 million packages were processed and put into trucks. In the whole year, over 180 billion were sent across the country. And the fastest delivery took only several hours!
Now, “speed” is no longer the only key word in this industry. Many delivery services have started to go green. Each year, more than 800 million boxes are reused or recycled. Besides, smart packing models are widely used. There’s no doubt that delivery services are smart in our life and friendly to our environment.

(2026·湖北·中考真题)For most foreign teenagers, learning Chinese poems could be boring. But for a group of exchange students in China, it became an amazing trip. To help them learn more, Chinese students in a middle school started a club called “Poetry Gathering”.
In this club, students explored the classic poems in active and creative ways. Chinese students prepared “fun cards”. On the cards were famous poems and theme (主题) paintings. Cards about Li Bai’s moon, Du Fu’s mountains, and Wang Wei’s desert were popular. They helped the exchange students know how ancient poets used Chinese to “paint” pictures.
Besides, they used simple instruments like drums to experience the rhythm (节奏) of the poems. “When I play the drums to a Tang poem, I can hear the music hidden in the lines,” said Alice, an exchange student. “It makes the poem easy to sing out loud and interesting to share.” By putting poems, paintings and the rhythm together, students made the club a fun place where ancient poets met their teenager fans.
When Chinese students and exchange students studied together, they both benefited greatly. “To help them better understand our poems, I have to do some closer reading. Each character means a lot in poems. For example, 水 (shui) shows beauty, sweetness, and a smooth feeling,” said Li Ran. “When my new foreign friend said he could feel the imagery (意境) of the lines, I felt very proud of our culture.” Li added.

(2026·安徽·中考真题)Bull sharks (牛鲨) have friends too, scientists have discovered. People usually think sharks live alone, but a new study suggests that bull sharks have friends they like to spend time with.
Scientists watched 184 sharks over six years. The sharks were fed together inside a protected area. Researchers could go deep down and watch them. The team recorded their actions, such as sharks leading and following each other and how close together the sharks swam.
They found that both male (雄性的) and female (雌性的) bull sharks like to play with females, but males form more social relationships. This might be because males are smaller than females, so having more friends protects them from larger sea animals.
The researchers said that like other animals, bull sharks might learn new skills, find food and stay safe from enemies by social connections.
“As humans, we build different kinds of social relationships. And these sharks are doing similar things,” said Natasha Marosi, who led the research. The scientists said understanding bull sharks’ actions can teach us more about how they live together and move around, which can help with shark protection.

(2026·甘肃天水·中考真题)Teen Inventors Build A Robot To Replant Burned Forests
Like many countries, Portugal has been experiencing increasingly hotter, drier weather. This has caused many big wildfires. Since 2000, the country has lost about half of its forest because of these big fires. More than 60% of these areas are dangerous, making replanting difficult. Two university students have come up with a creative solution—a tree-planting robot called Trovador.
Marta Bernardino and Sebasti o Mendon a, grew up near Portugal’s capital, Lisbon. They spent much of their childhood exploring the nearby woods. Sad to see them burned by fire again and again, they decided to act.
In 2023, they began building Trovador, a tree-planting robot. The first robot, made from recycled parts and costing $17, could plant young trees 28% faster than humans, and 90% of the young trees survived.
Their work quickly got international praise. In 2024, they received $10,000 to improve Trovador.
Trovador now is a four-legged, AI-powered robot. It uses cameras to find its way across difficult ground. It can work up to 3 hours on one full power and plant up to 200 young trees per hour. It is expected to be ready for work by the end of 2026.

(2026·福建·中考真题)Plastic production has been rising since the end of World War II. Plastic has greatly influenced modern life. It is widely used in clothing, electronic goods, cars and healthcare. In fact, plastic is not a single material. A study shows that 16, 000 different chemicals are used in making plastics. When plastic ends up in nature, it can take hundreds of years to break down. It pollutes soil and water.
People have realized the plastic pollution problem. Thanks to modern recycling technology, we see products made from recycled plastic — from T-shirts to bags to building materials. This is the magic of turning waste plastic into valuable products.
Scientists are developing more and more effective methods to recycle waste plastic. For example, researchers break down plastics into reusable chemicals by using heat, pressure and a kind of special water. Another technology creates a plastic mix to break down waste plastic into oil for new plastics. Scientists also use electric current (电流) to turn waste plastic into high quality graphene (石墨烯). The graphene helps to develop new cancer treatments.
Recycling reduces the need to produce new plastic from oil. Besides, it helps to control environmental pollution. However, recycling plastic is not always easy. Different types of waste plastics must be separated and well cleaned.
China has been stressing the importance of recycling and has taken action to improve it. Many schools try to encourage students to recycle properly. For example, students may get an award, such as a small toy or a pencil, for putting empty bottles into smart recycling machines. Factories are encouraged to use recycled materials in their products. With each recycled bottle, China moves one step closer to a future where nothing is truly wasted—everything is just waiting for its next use.

(2026·福建·中考真题)With the world becoming warmer because of climate change, mosquitoes are busy enlarging their living space. Now, a Chinese company has created a new device which can detect mosquitoes and then kill them. The device promises a future in which the peace and quiet of a summer evening is no longer broken by flying mosquitoes.
The small, light device uses AI to discover mosquitoes as small as 2 millimeters (毫米). Within 0.003 seconds, it fires a high-energy laser (激光) that disables a mosquito midflight — a course that can hardly be seen by humans — and can kill up to 30 mosquitoes every second.
The Chinese device is not alone in mosquito control. The Locus, which is made by a foreign company, uses computers to locate (定位) mosquitoes indoors. However, while the Locus focuses on location, the Chinese device goes a step further by killing mosquitoes.
It is not easy to improve the accuracy rate (准确率). The early models of the Chinese device failed to correctly discover mosquitoes within a short distance, as they were influenced by background noise. After years of hard work, careful research and countless tests, the company put AI and laser technology together, enabling a discovery rate of over 95 percent within six meters.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are over 3,500 kinds of mosquitoes in the world. About 200 kinds can spread diseases. Every year, mosquitoes kill more than 700,000 people. Millions of people face this risk every day. This new Chinese device provides a safe and effective way to fight mosquitoes and protect people’s health.

(2026·湖南·中考真题)①AI is used to help solve problems in many fields now. Here’s how it helps save energy, protect animals, and reduce pollution.
②In many office buildings, people sometimes forget to turn off the lights or the air conditioners (空调). As a result, a lot of electricity is wasted. Thanks to AI, the problem can be solved. It learns what the temperature is and how many people are inside the buildings. Then it makes thousands of small changes to save electricity every day. No single change is big, but all of them together can make a big difference.
③Another problem is about hunting wild animals. You can’t imagine how many kinds of wild animals around the world are in danger now. Luckily, AI can collect all the data (数据) to learn from the past hunting events. Then it can guess where the hunters will go next. It was once used in a certain area, and the number of hunting events dropped from 19 a month to zero.
④How can AI help reduce pollution To clean up plastic waste from the ocean, you first need to know where it is. However, it’s difficult because the ocean is too wide. But with satellites (人造卫星), AI can quickly make a map to show where the plastic is. This helps clean up the ocean much more efficiently, because the ships can be sent to the right places to collect the plastic waste quickly.
⑤However, none of these benefits come for free. Training AI also uses a lot of energy. So we should make wise choices.
123.What energy can AI help save in the office buildings
A.Gas. B.Water. C.Electricity.
124.Which paragraph talks about how AI helps protect wild animals
A.Paragraph 2. B.Paragraph 3. C.Paragraph 4.
125.Which words are closest in meaning to “efficiently” in Paragraph 4

(2026·山西·中考真题)Every time Steve woke up, he felt his right hand was on fire. He could not lift a cup or touch cold water. The medicine he took didn’t work well. But one day, he put on a VR (虚拟现实) headset and things began to change.
VR treatment is being used in medical fields, especially for helping people with chronic (慢性的) pain. In fact, VR can give people experiences that are similar to the real world. In a VR program, Steve was trying out a VR headset. Surprisingly, it took him to a different situation where he was able to move his right hand slowly. Jenny also received the VR treatment in this program. Her back pain bothered her for years. Wearing a VR headset, she was surprised to find she got a little better.
So how does VR help Scientists say that the pain is not only about the body. It also has something to do with the brain. When you fully focus on something exciting, your brain pays less attention to the pain. VR uses this idea to help people feel better.
Of course, VR treatment may not suit everyone suffering from pain. It is still being studied, but for those living with pain every day, VR technology brings something important: hope.
127.How does the writer start the text
A.By listing a number.
B.By asking a question.
C.By giving an example.

(2026·江苏扬州·中考真题)What if things in your home—your toothbrush, books, desks, even you!—suddenly seemed weightless and began to float This is what astronauts experience in a space station—microgravity (微重力). Even though the space station and the astronauts inside are in space, Earth’s gravity is still pulling on them, though very weak. Let’s explore the astronauts’ life in space. Though there are some challenges, life in space is a super-fun.
Eating and sleeping
Need to get from one place to another Just push off a surface and glide there! Nothing stays put. Imagine turning on a tap. Water would go flying everywhere.
Astronauts aren’t allowed to eat anything in the space station that creates crumbs (碎屑). Food crumbs can become a disaster if they get into equipment (设备). That’s why astronauts eat specially prepared meals. There’s no “up” or “down” in space, so astronauts sleep in sleeping bags tied to the wall. Their arms will float in front of them while they sleep.
Astronauts have to keep their bodies strong. There’s less stress on bones in space, for gravity is weaker. Muscles (肌肉) aren’t used as much. Their bones and muscles grow weaker. Even astronauts’ hearts can weaken. Every astronaut has to exercise for about two hours a day. Most of the exercise equipment is specially designed to imitate the feel of gravity.
Work and play
Astronauts spend much of their time working. They do a lot of experiments—from space life science to new spacecraft technologies. Sometimes they do spacewalks to make repairs to the outside of the station. When they have free time, astronauts kick back by reading books and looking down at Earth.
