Have you ever heard of Chinamaxxing (极致中国化) It is a new popular word made up of“China” and “maxxing”, and it is also known as the phrase “Becoming Chinese”. This trend (趋势) is not about changing your passport or nationality. Instead, it means trying to live in the best Chinese way — a fun and healthy lifestyle trend sweeping social media platforms like TikTok in 2026. Today, millions of young people around the world are now following this trend and trying to live like Chinese people.
What does “Becoming Chinese” actually involve (涉及) It includes many simple but meaningful daily habits. People begin to use Chinese living habits in daily life: they drink hot water or tea instead of ice water, take thermoses (热水瓶) with them all day, and soak (浸泡) their feet in warm water before bed. Many are also trying traditional exercises like Baduanjin, a form of Qigong that helps relax the body and mind. Cooking soft porridge for breakfast or making hot pot with family has also become popular.
Why are so many people joining this trend Modern life is busy and stressful, and Western ways of relaxation hardly work. People love these Chinese daily habits because they are comforting and great for health. As more foreigners share their experiences of China online, more people find Chinese daily life warm and interesting. An American blogger also said his life became regular, and he felt less worried and much healthier after trying this lifestyle.
“Becoming Chinese” is more than just a joke — it’s a way for people to connect with a different culture through everyday actions. It shows that good ideas about health and happiness can come from anywhere.
4. Which of the following is NOT the Chinese daily habit the foreigners try
A.Drinking hot tea.
B.Soaking feet before sleeping.
C.Drinking ice water every day.
5. Why do so many foreigners follow the trend
A.Because they want to get a Chinese passport.
B.Because these habits help them feel relaxed and healthy.
C.Because they want to follow a popular TikTok challenge.
6. Which statement is TRUE according to the text
A.Baduanjin is a kind of Western Qigong exercise.
B.Few people share their Chinese life experiences on the Internet.
C.An American blogger becomes healthier after the lifestyle change.
7. Where can you most likely read this article
A.A lifestyle website.
B.A fast-food cookbook.
C.A history book.

Minqin County lies in Gansu Province. It is surrounded by two large deserts, the Tengger Desert and the Badain Jaran Desert. In the 1990s, 94.5% of its land turned into desert. Strong winds blew all year round and sand was everywhere. Local people lived a hard life at that time.
However, great changes have taken place here in recent years. A volunteer activity called “Come to Minqin and Plant Trees” has attracted thousands of young volunteers across China. These volunteers come from different places, including southern Guangdong and northern Heilongjiang. They spend their own money on trips, bring tools by themselves and live in simple houses near the forest base. So far, volunteers have planted 15,000 mu (亩) of new trees, and over 80 percent of the trees have survived.
The weather in Minqin can be very harsh. Spring sandstorms hit this area very often. Last April, volunteers were planting trees when a sudden sandstorm came. They had to stop their work and hide for two hours. But they continued to plant trees as soon as the storm was over.
Zhong Lin is one of these volunteers. He was born in 1998. After graduating from college, he gave up a comfortable city job and went back to his hometown to fight against desertification (荒漠化). He said that his family didn’t understand him at first. But now they support him after seeing more and more green trees.
With the efforts of all volunteers, green plants are replacing yellow sand little by little. Minqin tells us that we can change the environment for the better as long as we never give up.
8. What was Minqin County like in the 1990s
A.It was covered with forests and green fields.
B.Most of the land was desert with strong wind and sand.
C.The weather was always nice and people lived a happy life.
9. What can we know about the volunteers in Minqin
A.They paid for the trips themselves.
B.They lived in the nearby five-star hotels.
C.Most of them come from Gansu Province.
10. What does the underlined word harsh in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Unpleasant and difficult. B.Warm and rainy. C.Sunny and comfortable.
11. Why does the author mention Zhong Lin in the passage
A.To explain how to plant trees in the desert.
B.To compare Minqin with other desert areas in China.
C.To show that young people can make a difference to the environment.
