Should students bring snacks to school Let’s hear what some kids and a teacher think about this.
I once saw my classmates drop cookie crumbs (食物碎屑) on the classroom floor. The crumbs went everywhere, and it was hard to clean them up. Also, some snacks have strong smells. They make it hard for us to listen to our teachers in class. —Tom, 13
Some snacks, like candies and potato chips, are not healthy. I ate too many candies last month and got a tooth pain. Banning (禁止) snacks can help us stay away from unhealthy food and keep our bodies healthy. —Lily, 14
I often feel hungry between morning and afternoon classes. Bringing a small apple or some cookies gives me energy. When I don’t feel hungry, I can listen better to the teacher in the next class. —Ben, 12
The question is not black and white. I think we can find a middle way. Schools should let students bring only healthy snacks and eat them at the “snack corner” to keep the school clean. This way, it’s a win-win! —Miss Wang

A young girl felt sad. Her small greenhouse used to be her pride (骄傲) and joy, and she spent hours every day looking after the plants. However, things became bad. Her beautiful rosebushes, which she hoped would bloom (开花) for the Spring Festival, showed no sign of flowers. Only a few weak and yellow leaves stayed on the branches.
“All my hard work has been useless.” she said to herself sadly. That evening, an old gardener came and found the young girl hopeless.
Without saying anything, the old man picked up a trowel (小铲子) and loosened the soil (松土) around the roots. He then cut off some of the weakest branches. The young girl was angry. “Stop! What are you doing You’re killing my roses!” she shouted.
“Don’t worry,” the old man said calmly. “A rose can’t bloom if it has too many weak branches. We must cut them off to help the plant grow well. If you don’t do that, it will exhaust itself because it wants to protect (保护) every leaf.”
The young girl stepped back and watched. Weeks later, following the old man’s advice, the roses finally bloomed. At the end of spring, the whole greenhouse was full of beautiful red flowers and sweet smell.
