Last summer, I signed up for a volunteer program at Sunflower Camp, a place for children with autism (孤独症) . Stepping into the quiet classroom filled with colourful toys and gentle music, I thought, “What if they don’t accept me ” My mum’s words repeated in my mind, “Just be patient and kind.”
On the first day, Leo, a thin boy with big eyes, sat in the corner, waving his hands quickly like butterfly wings. I took a deep breath and sat beside him, rolling a soft ball towards him. He glanced (扫视) up, silent. I rolled it again, but still nothing happened. For the third time, he pushed it back! A smile appeared on his face, like a shy star. My heart melted (融化).
Over five weeks, we built wooden towers, drew rainbows, and sang songs. Gradually, Leo started looking at me when I spoke. One morning, he said “hi” to me — so soft, yet it hit my heart. His teacher said he seldom spoke to others. Pride filled my heart.
Then came the day Leo handed me a drawing, two persons holding hands. He pointed to one, saying “you”, and then the other, saying “me”. My tears came out. And I knew it was a bridge of trust.
Even now, I send Leo postcards monthly. His mum says he waits by the door, eyes bright, for the postman.
This experience taught me the true magic of love and patience. I used to judge others quickly, but my experience at Sunflower Camp changed me. Most importantly, it also inspired Leo. Years later, he decided to join me in volunteering at the camp. I came to understand that even small acts, when done with patience, could build great connections.

Do you know how to deal with your feelings when you are upset Everyone may feel sad, worried or angry sometimes. These feelings are normal, but if you keep bad feelings inside for too long, they will be bad for your health and study. Here are some useful ways to cheer yourself up when you are in a bad mood.
First, talk to someone you trust. Many teenagers choose to keep their problems to themselves. They are afraid that others will laugh at them or think they are strange. In fact, talking is the best way to release stress. You can talk to your parents, teachers or close friends. When you share your trouble with them, they may give you some useful advice. Just speaking out your feelings will also make you feel relaxed.
Second, do some sports or outdoor activities. Doing exercise can make your body produce special things that make you happy. You can go running, play basketball or swim in your free time. If you don’t like sports, you can take a walk in the park, enjoy the fresh air and beautiful flowers. Being close to nature can calm your mind and drive away bad moods.
Third, do something you enjoy. Everyone has hobbies. You can read interesting storybooks, listen to soft music or draw pictures. Hobbies can take your attention away from your troubles. When you put your heart into your favorite things, you will forget unhappiness little by little. You can also watch funny cartoons or comedies. Laughter is the best medicine for a bad mood.
Fourth, learn to think in a different way. Sometimes bad feelings come from our wrong ideas. If you fail an exam, don’t always think you are stupid. Instead, find out the reasons and try to do better next time. Learn to accept small mistakes and encourage yourself all the time.
Life is full of ups and downs. Bad feelings are just small parts of life. Use these ways properly, and you will become a happy and confident person.
