Inside the hall, the door was shut. Poor ten-inch-tall Alice found a cake on the floor. She soon ate it all.
“How strange! How tall I am!” said Alice. She was now over nine feet tall, which meant she still couldn’t get through the door. She sat down, and had a good cry until there was a large pool of tears around her.

Sayram Lake (赛里木湖) is one of the most famous and beautiful lakes in China. Every year, it attracts a large number of tourists from different places. Today, let’s take a closer look at it.
Sayram Lake lies in the west of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang. Its name “Sayram” means “the lake on the mountain ridge (脊) ”. It is influenced by warm and wet air from the Atlantic, so people also call it “the last tear of the Atlantic Ocean”.
It is a famous highland lake. It was formed about 70 million years ago because of the strong earth movement. The water of the lake is clear and clean. It mainly comes from snow, rain and underground water. It has a temperate continental (温带大陆) climate, so winter is cold and long, while summer is cool and comfortable.
The lake is clean and bright blue. Around it are green grass, colorful flowers and snow-covered mountains. It is home to many kinds of special plants. Some rare birds like mute swans (疣鼻天鹅) also live here, and there are very few of them in China. The best time to visit Sayram Lake is from May to October. In early summer, all kinds of flowers come out everywhere. In autumn, the grass turns golden and the sky is clear blue. In winter, the whole lake freezes over. Visitors can enjoy amazing blue ice.
