Recently, over 1200 Chinese online fiction writers have signed an open letter calling for joint action against plagiarism, especially AI-powered “article spinning”. Thankfully, positive progress has been made. Major platforms have launched AI-detection systems that check not just word repetition, but also story logic, character relationships and key plotlines. Violating accounts face work removal, account bans or even industry blacklists. Government regulators have also taken action: since September 2025, all AI-generated content must carry clear labels to control tool abuse at the source.
