Come and share your favorite saying from ancient China!
“Physically in Cao’s camp, but heart belongs to the Han.”In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Guan Yu, a brave general, was forced to stay in Cao Cao’s camp to save his partners. Because of his outstanding courage and loyalty (忠诚), Cao Cao tried his best to keep him. He gave Guan Yu gold, fine clothes and a great horse to win his heart. However, all nice gifts could never make him change his mind. His heart was always with his brother Liu Bei. When he got news of Liu Bei, he left everything and set off to look for his brother. (Mike)
“ ” The saying comes from the classic Outlaws of the Marsh. In the book, brave heroes help each other all the time. A perfect example is Lu Zhishen and Lin Chong. When they first met in the capital, Lin Chong, who lived a wealthy life, treated Lu Zhishen with rich food and fine wine. But later, Lin Chong was exiled (发配) to Cangzhou and faced deadly danger on the road, so Lu Zhishen followed and protected him. They stood side by side and got through terrible troubles. To me, this saying reminds me to value friendship, rain or shine. (Luna)

The 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Award was announced at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy. Cai Gao, a famous picture book illustrator (插画家) from Changsha, Hunan, successfully won the award, becoming the first Chinese illustrator to receive this honor.
For over twenty years, Cai has grown flowers like roses and lilies in the garden on the rooftop of her home in Hunan. Almost every morning, she goes up to the rooftop, walks through the sea of colors and greets the rising sun in the east. With childlike curiosity and excitement, she takes time to watch everything in her garden. She loves the garden so much that when her daughter invited her to go on trips, she refused—“Who’s going to take care of my ‘friends’ if I’m far away for so long ”
But Cai’s garden lies not just on the rooftop. The trees in her neighborhood tell their stories in a different way. She says, “They always have something to say, as long as you get close enough to listen.” She still remembers watching raindrops from the roof as a young girl. Over time, it formed a puddle (水坑) on the ground. As the rain continued, more raindrops merrily jumped into it, creating a cheerful musical work of nature. Outside her home, in the street, a girl called out softly while selling flowers. In young Cai’s heart, wherever there was life, there was joy—and a little “garden”.
Year after year, time passes, but Cai remains a child inside. She turns what she sees in the “garden” into short essays and picture books for children, bringing the world more than 40 warm and lovely works. Rain is important to life on Earth. Plants need water to grow, providing food for us and other animals. Rain also fills the rivers and lakes that provide fresh water. In ancient China, Du Fu’s poem “Good rain knows its time right; it will fall when spring comes.” shows how rain helps improve the growth of plants as well as the spirits of people. But where does rain come from
Rain is a key part of the water cycle. It begins with a step called evaporation when the water on Earth’s surface is dried out by the sun and enters the air as unseen water vapor (水蒸气). The air cools as it rises, and the vapor turns into tiny water drops which are so small and light that they don’t fall to the ground, and thus a cloud forms. When millions of tiny water drops get together, they develop into larger drops. These drops will fall to the ground as rain when they are large and heavy enough. It joins the sea, rivers, and underground water, then the water cycle starts all over again.
In cold weather the water in a cloud freezes and forms ice crystals (冰晶). These crystals stick together and fall as snow. Sometimes strong winds can push frozen raindrops up and down. Each time they rise and fall, the frozen drops collect more ice and water. Finally they become so heavy that they fall to the ground as hailstones (冰雹).
However, rainfall and snowfall are not shared in the same way all over the world. Deserts hardly have any rain, tropical regions (热带地区) can have much rain, while in polar areas snow falls instead of rain. This imbalanced rainfall brings serious problems to both nature and human society. To solve these problems, we must learn to make better use of rainwater…
46.Why does the author mention Du Fu’s poem in Paragraph 1
A. To introduce different rains.
B. To explain how rain is formed
C. To show the importance of rain.
D. To express love for the summer rain.
47.The picture shows the process of water cycle, which step represents “evaporation”
A. ① B. ② C. ③ D. ④
48.According to Paragraph 3, what is the necessary condition for hailstones
A. The water in sea freezes.
B. Stones collect much water.
C. The raindrops fall very fast.
D. Strong winds meet frozen raindrops.
49.Which are possible problems caused by imbalanced rainfall ① drought ② flood ③ tsunami ④ earthquake
A. ①② B. ③④ C. ①④ D. ②④
50.What would the author write about after the last sentence
A. What causes heavy snow. B. Which place has the most snow.
C. When it rains in deserts. D. How people deal with rainwater.

I choose book recommendations as my topic for the activity “Find My Voice”. I’d like to introduce The Little Prince. It tells a warm story about a little prince traveling across different planets. He meets all kinds of strange people and gradually figures out the true meaning of love and responsibility. I strongly recommend it because its plain words hide deep life truths. It can always soothe my mood whenever I feel upset or confused.
Reading guides us to think deeply and discover our inner voice. I hope you will take time to read this wonderful book.
Thank you for listening!
