【答案】范文:
I realized I had put personal feelings above what was best for the class. As a monitor, I should have been responsible for the whole performance rather than favoring my best friend. After careful thought, I made up my mind to correct my wrong decision. I first went to find John and talked to him sincerely. I apologized for ignoring the team’s benefit and explained that the main role needed professional singing skills to guarantee the show’s quality. To my surprise, John understood my dilemma and agreed to give up the role willingly. He said he also hoped our class could present the best performance.
Jack smiled and told me he didn’t mind the small role, but he was willing to take the main part if it helped our performance. From then on, Jack devoted himself to rehearsing diligently every day. With his beautiful singing and careful acting, our play became more wonderful day by day. Meanwhile, John practiced his own part earnestly and supported the team actively. Finally, our class put on a stunning show at the art festival. This experience taught me that true friendship and good leadership lie in fairness and responsibility for the whole team.陕西师范大学附属中学2025-2026学年下学期7月月考高一英语试题(考试时间:120分钟,试卷满分:120分)

According to a new study, great whites and whale sharks are among the species at risk of dying out over the next century.
Pimiento is the lead author of a research published in Science Advances. The research looks at how the extinction of large marine (海洋的) species would influence the ecological roles of ocean ecosystems. “The worrying extinction challenges scientists to better measure the variety of biology: how will the total variety of life on Earth be affected as human activities lead to the losses of more and more creatures ” they said. In the oceans, the biggest animals are thought to play important ecological roles, and are also facing high levels of threat from human activities such as fisheries and climate change.
The team was looking to move beyond traditional species extinctions, to find out more about the functional diversity, the range of roles that these species perform, and how biodiversity (生物多样性) might respond under different extinction scenarios (预测). They ran two different extinction scenarios. In one, researchers looked at extinction probability based on their current IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) status. In the second, they assumed all species listed as threatened, around 40 percent, had gone extinct.
Sharks were found to be one of the worst affected groups. “We already knew that sharks are one of the most threatened groups in the ocean,” they said. “They are also very easily hurt due to their large size and low reproductive rate. Our results show that the most functionally unique and special shark species would be more likely to die out in the future, contributing to greater ecological losses.” They also found the biggest threats to marine megafauna (大型哺乳动物群) are fishing, either through getting caught up by accident or directly targeted, and climate change. Reducing these threats could be the best way to protect these species.
The good news is that the study identifies key species that can be targeted and protected. Sometimes ocean preservation can be a triage game. The science helps us know which species really need our help and which species we really cannot afford to lose.
4. Why did Pimiento carry out the study
A. To show that great white sharks and whale sharks are endangered.
B. To study the main cause of the extinction of some large species in the sea.
C. To work out the ecological role of large animals in the ocean.
D. To offer us the best way of balancing variety of biology with human acts.
5. How did the team conduct its research
A. By checking current data. B. By predicting extinction rates.
C. By measuring marine biodiversity. D. By analyzing traditional experiments.
6. What does the research result show
A. The risk of sharks reproducing in the ocean.
B. The reasons for sharks being hit hardest in the sea.
C. The influence of sharks’ extinction on the ocean.
D. The solution to large sea animals’ dying out.
7. The underlined word “triage” in Paragraph 5 means _________.
A. challenging B. interesting C. easy D. sorting
C
The Yellow River is the cradle (摇篮) of China’s civilization. And flood control and prevention have always been key to the well-being of the people living along it. Now, scientists can better work on these issues by giving the river a digital twin.
The digital twin of the Yellow River uses various technologies, including big data, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things. Devices set up along the river collect and transmit information to the command center. Based on the information, a 3D model of the river is presented on the computer screen. It’s like the Yellow River has a twin that reflects its real conditions.
One big breakthrough in the river’s digital governance (管理) is “smart stones”. According to Wang Qin, a lead researcher at the Information Center of Yellow River Henan Bureau, a smart stone is a water-proof stone-shaped device with chips, a battery, and a signal transmitter (尤指电台或电视信号的发射机). They are buried in important dike (堤坝) locations to record and report the movement of dike stones. “Upon feeling movement of the dike stones, the smart stone sends an alarm to the command center for quick response,” Wang said.
“In the past, researchers had to learn the conditions of the dike on the spot by themselves, putting their lives at risk,” said Zhao Xiaoxiong from the bureau. “Now the smart stones can do this for us, more safely, quickly, and accurately.”
And in the sky, drones are flying. On the routes designed by engineers, the drones become expert patrollers (巡逻员) of the river, looking at its dikes and flood prevention projects. According to Shen Lin from the Yellow River Conservancy Commission, thanks to the drones, researchers at the command center can get first-hand photos and information. “Researchers then update the 3D model according to the changes the drones reported. The newly updated model helps us test our floodwater release plans (泄洪计划) in case we need to batten down the hatches,” said Shen.
Under the water and up in the sky, intelligent systems are helping to protect the Yellow River Basin on all fronts. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, in the future, we can expect to see the construction of an even more comprehensive digital system for this important river.
8. What is the main purpose of creating a digital twin of the Yellow River
A. To study the wildlife in the Yellow River.
B. To raise public awareness of river protection.
C. To improve flood control and prevention efforts.
D. To provide a virtual reality experience of the river.
9. How do the “smart stones” contribute to the river’s digital governance
A. They record water quality.
B. They enhance the river’s beauty.
C. They monitor and report dike movements.
D. They serve as markets for important locations.
10. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 5 probably mean
A. To update the 3D model for accuracy.
B. To prepare for a potential flood event.
C. To strengthen the riverbanks and dikes.
D. To increase drone monitoring over the river.
11. What does this passage mainly talk about
A. The cultural and historical importance of the Yellow River.
B. The future plans for improving the Yellow River’s construction.
C. The use of smart stones and drones for flood control and monitoring.
D. The development of a digital system for the Yellow River’s management.

In Mexico, everyone spoke Spanish and ate tacos. Here, I couldn’t even order pizza without ___18___.
One Saturday, my Filipino neighbor, Mrs. Cruz, knocked on our door. “Tomorrow is our town’s ‘Unity Picnic’,” she said, handing my mom a plate of lumpia (spring rolls). “Everyone brings a dish from their ___19___.” My mom hesitated, as she only knew how to make mole (a Mexican sauce). But Mrs. Cruz insisted.
The next day, our family arrived with a pot of mole. I saw Korean kimchi, Vietnamese noodles, and American apple pie. The school art festival was just two weeks away, and as the class monitor, I was in charge of our class’s performance. We had decided to put on a short play about friendship. The main role required someone who could sing well, and most classmates agreed that Jack would be perfect for it. After all, he had won first prize in the school singing competition the year before.
However, when I announced the casting (角色分配), my best friend John pulled me aside. “Please let me have the main role,” he begged. “You know how much I love performing, and this might be my last chance before graduation.” I felt torn between what was best for the class and my friendship with John. After much hesitation, I made the difficult decision to give the main role to John, even though Jack was clearly more suitable.
During rehearsals (排练), it became obvious that John couldn’t do the singing parts well. He often forgot the lyrics and couldn’t reach the high notes. The other classmates started complaining quietly. Jack always came to rehearsals on time and helped others with their lines, even though he only had a small role. I could see the disappointment in his eyes every time John struggled with a song.
One afternoon, our teacher, Ms. White, stayed to watch our rehearsal. After seeing John perform, she took me aside. She asked me if I thought John was the perfect person for the role. She gently reminded me that a good leader needs to make fair decisions for the whole team, so our class can put on the best show possible. Her words kept echoing (回响) in my mind. That evening, I saw Jack practicing the main role’s songs in the empty classroom. His voice was beautiful and full of emotion. I stood outside the door, feeling increasingly guilty (内疚的) about my poor decision.
