Can you imagine that when you’re sleeping at night, somewhere far away, the sun is just rising That’s because different places have different times. Why The Earth turns itself around once every 24 hours. As it turns, different parts of the Earth face the Sun. We have daytime when our side faces the sun, and night when it turns away.
Long ago, people used the sun to tell time. But when trains and telephones came out, people needed a better way. If every place used its own “sun time”, things could get messy. For example, when it was 12:00 noon in Chongqing, it might still be late at night in New York, making it hard to plan trips or calls. So in 1884, scientists from around the world had a meeting. They divided (划分) the Earth into 24 time zones. Each zone is about 15° wide, because the Earth turns 15° every hour.
The starting line for the time zones is called the prime meridian (0 度经线). It goes through Greenwich, England. London is in the southeast of England. It lies in the 0 time zone (UTC+0). Traveling east Add one hour for each zone. Going west Take away an hour.
However, some large countries make their own rules. For example, China crosses 5 time zones, but still uses Beijing time (UTC+8). That makes daily life and travel easier.
Time truly works in an amazing way. Time zones help the world run in order.

A. UTC-3. B. UTC+3. C. UTC+6. D. UTC+8.
44.What does the word “That” in paragraph 4 refer to
A. Making plans. B. Adding one hour.
C. The starting line. D. Using Beijing time.
45.Why does the writer write the passage
A. To introduce “sun time”.
B. To tell how to plan trips.
