The Secret Social Network of Plants
Have you ever thought that plants might be "talking" to each other Scientists have discovered something amazing: trees and plants actually communicate!
When a tree is attacked by hungry insects, it cannot run away. Instead, it sends out special chemical signals through the air. These signals act like a warning message. Nearby trees "smell" these signals and start producing chemicals that make their leaves taste bad to insects-. It's like the tree is shouting to its neighbors, "Danger! Danger!"
This discovery surprised many researchers. Professor Li from Beijing Forestry University explains, "We used to think plants just sit quietly and do nothing. But now we know they have their own 'social network' underground too." Trees connect through their roots and share food with sick or weaker trees.
In a forest, a mother tree can send water and nutrients to her baby trees through this underground network. Some trees even help their "friends" by sending extra food when they are in trouble. Isn't that like a big plant family
The largest and oldest trees in a forest—called "mother trees"—play the most important role. They connect many other trees and keep the whole forest healthy.
So when you walk through a forest, remember: you are walking through a busy, noisy city of plants that are always talking to each other. You just can't hear them!

Daily Tasks:

Tuesday Ask a classmate about their hobby.
Wednesday Call a grandparent or a relative.
Thursday Help a neighbor with something.

Wang Fang, "Calling my grandma was difficult at first—we usually just text. But hearing her voice made me feel so warm. She said my call was the best gift of the week."
Zhang Wei, "I helped my elderly neighbor carry her shopping bags. She gave me homemade cookies and told me about her childhood. I realized that talking to older people can be really fun!"
The "No-Phone" Rule: No phones during meals, no texting when someone is talking to you, and at least 30 minutes of face-to-face conversation every day.

The "Perfect" New Classmate
A new student named Chen Hao joined our class this term. He was good at everything—math, English, sports, even playing the guitar! At first, I felt jealous. Why was he so perfect while I struggled with almost every subject
One day, I decided to find out his secret. I started watching him carefully. Here is what I noticed:
Chen Hao never played phone games during breaks. Instead, he reviewed his notes. He went to bed at 10:00 p.m. every night and got up at 6:00 a.m. to read English. He kept a small notebook for new words and reviewed them every morning-. He also asked the teacher questions immediately when he didn't understand something—he never waited until the next day.
I realized that Chen Hao wasn't a "genius." He was just more disciplined than me. I used to stay up late playing games and then felt sleepy in class. I never reviewed my notes and always forgot what I learned.
So I decided to make a change. I started a study plan: review for 20 minutes every night, go to bed earlier, and ask more questions in class. It was hard at first, but slowly my grades improved.
One day, I told Chen Hao about my plan. He smiled and said, "I'm not better than you. I just started earlier. We can study together if you want!"
Now we are good friends. I learned that comparing myself to others is not bad if it helps me become better. We are different, but different doesn't mean better or worse—it just means we have different starting points-.
