六、阅读理解
A
Many teenagers today are under great pressure. They have to deal with heavy schoolwork, high expectations from parents, and competition with classmates. As a result, some of them may develop mental health problems like anxiety and depression.
Dr. Li, a psychologist from Beijing, says that teenagers should learn to express their feelings properly. "Keeping problems to yourself will only make things worse," she advises. "Talk to your parents, teachers or friends when you feel stressed. They can offer you support and useful advice."
Besides, taking regular exercise is also helpful. Physical activities like running, swimming or playing ball games can not only improve your health but also help reduce stress. A study shows that students who exercise at least three times a week feel much happier than those who don't.
Another useful way is to develop hobbies. Reading, drawing, playing a musical instrument or even gardening can take your mind off worries and give you a sense of achievement. When you are fully focused on something you enjoy, you will forget your troubles for a while.
In short, teenage problems are common and unavoidable. The most important thing is to face them positively and find proper ways to deal with them. Remember, every problem has a solution if you are willing to look for it.

Dear Editor,
I'm a 15-year-old boy and I'm in Grade 9. I love playing basketball and I dream of becoming a professional player one day. However, my parents strongly disagree with my choice. They think I should focus all my attention on my studies and get into a good high school. Every time I go to the court, they get angry and say I'm wasting my time. I feel really upset because basketball means a lot to me. I don't want to give up my dream, but I also don't want to disappoint my parents. What should I do
Yours sincerely,
A Confused Boy
Dear Confused Boy,
I totally understand your feelings. Many teenagers face similar conflicts with their parents. First of all, you need to have a heart-to-heart talk with your parents. Let them know how much basketball means to you and that you can balance your studies and sports. Show them your plan — for example, you can promise to finish your homework before practising and keep your grades at a certain level. Secondly, you can invite your parents to watch your games. When they see how happy and confident you are on the court, they might change their mind. Remember, parents always want the best for you, but sometimes they need time to understand your passion. Be patient and prove yourself with action.
Yours,
Editor
