Hard-boiled eggs are delicious and healthy. However, many people find it difficult to cook them well and peel (剥壳) them easily. (1)
First, place the eggs in a pot and add cold water until it reaches about 2.5 cm above the eggs. Adding a little salt can make peeling easier later.
(2) Then turn off the heat and cover the pot. For hard-boiled eggs, let them sit in the hot water for 7-10 minutes. By changing the cooking time, you can get soft or firm yolks (蛋黄), just as you like. After that, take out the eggs and cool them quickly in cold water. (3)
To peel the eggs, gently hit them on a hard surface to break them first. (4) Now you can start peeling from the larger end. If the shell is difficult to take off, you can peel the egg under running water.
(5) You can also steam, bake or fry them for different tastes.

B.Next, heat the water until it boils.
C.Then roll them softly to loosen (松动) the shells.

For over 100 years, scientists have wondered how cats always land on their feet when they fall. Some parts of this mystery (谜) have been solved, but much remains unknown. Now, researchers in Japan have found it could be about the way a cat’s spine (脊柱) is built.
In 1894, a scientist took the first pictures of a falling cat turning in the air. The cat turned itself over and landed on its feet. This seemed to go against the laws of physics. Scientists called it the “falling cat problem”.
Normally, for an object to begin turning in midair, it must have a force (力) pushing on it. Scientists later showed that cats can turn over by using their own bodies. But exactly how they do it is still unknown.
Now, researchers at a Japanese university say the answer may lie in the cat’s spine. They studied the spines of five dead cats. They looked at two parts: the front half and the back half. They found the front half could turn about three times as much as the back half. The front was much more flexible (灵活的).
The team also studied two living cats. Using a high-speed camera, they recorded each cat falling onto something soft from about one metre high. The videos showed that the cats did not turn all at once. Instead, the front half turned first, followed by the back half. This helps explain how cats can turn in the air.
26.What does the underlined word “it” refer to in paragraph 1
A. The cat. B. The way. C. The spine. D. The mystery.
27.When was the “falling cat problem” first recorded

28.Which of the following best describes a cat’s front half of the spine
A. Lighter. B. Shorter. C. More flexible. D. More colourful.
29.How can cats turn in the air according to the last two paragraphs
A. By using a force pushing on them.
B. By falling from a height within one metre.
C. By landing softly on something from a high place.
D. By turning their front half first and then the back half.
30.What is the best title for the passage
A. Why Cats Have Flexible Spines
B. How Cats Always Land on Their Feet
C. Who Took the First Photos of Falling Cats
D. What Scientists Still Do Not Know About Cats
